Ezines - where to look for them and how to start

Hi Warriors.

I just recently started building my list and I'd like to start advertising in some e-zines. I'd like your advice on how to start off, where to look for them and how to recognize if they're worth it.

Also, do you have experience with DOE ? I'm thinking about becoming a member, but it's a bit expensive for me now.

P.S. my niche is fitness/health

Not sure you're definition of ezines is the same as mine.

Ezines are basically article repositories, or in layman's terms a place where articles are stored. Thus, you really are not advertising, so much as storing your articles for others to find, and share with your permission.

If by advertising, you mean; syndicating your content... whereby, you persue (and offer) magazines, newspapers, and blog/website owners permission to use your articles... *in exchange for a link back to your website/blog* - then sure this equates to advertising, if you view it in this way.

However, advertising in the article itself, is generally frowned upon, even forbidden. The point is to write quality content, worthy of third party publishers (i.e. websites, magazines, newspapers, etc...) the opportunity to provide their established viewers (traffic) the use of your quality content, in exchange for a link back to your website. Also known as your resource box.

The best place to learn more, and submit your articles for free is EzineArticles.com

Better still, simply browse threads here, and look for Alexa Smith, as she is pretty much the resident expert on this subject, I am merely a disciple of sort, as I am still perfecting my efforts in syndicating my articles, and in gaining exposure to highly targeted traffic, and quality backlinks.

Charlie Page has been around for quite awhile, and I would say it would be money well spent, as joining the DOE remains on my to do list. However, I read every email he sends me to this very day, lol.

If money's tight, stick around this forum, you'll likely receive some mind blowing revelations when you learn to apply proper use of the resources you've mentioned thus far.

What you've described here is an "article directory", Art, not an "ezine".

"Ezine" (or "e-zine") is a contraction of the words "electronic magazine". It's a newsletter (free or paid-for), sent out to its subscribers.

Article directories are websites. Ezines are distributed by email. (It's true that a few of them also eventually get one copy of each issue of the ezine archived on a website somewhere).

The name of the well-known site called "Ezine Articles" causes some confusion: when it started, before I was born (ok, I exaggerate a tiny bit), it was intended to be a repository and source of articles for ezines. Nowadays it's also used (and maybe more commonly used) as a source of articles for websites too, of course, but we can't expect it to change its name to "website articles". The "Ezine Articles" website and business, in other words, is an article directory, not itself "an ezine" at all.

I'm afraid these may not really be as helpful as the DoE (I can't vouch for how accurate or up-to-date any of these sources is) ...
