How Do We Know If The Solo Ads We Buy Are Genuine!

I recently subscribed to Paul Myers newsletter and i am really impressed to say the least.

In the second letter i received he talks about Solo Ads and the devious ways some sellers work. Some will sell clicks that really are not clicks they are actually exposures on traffic exchanges or PPV networks.

How do we know who is legit and who is not and does anyone recommend any good Solo Ad sellers on this forum or anywhere else.

You should first search out people that you know personally that has used their services. Second pay attention to the testimonies on there sale site. Third buy small, track it yourself and if your offer converts well with their list buy medium then buy big.

    Or you could use safe-swaps.
Basically, I like it because it gives you testimonials by previous buyers from that certain seller it also gives you a rating & shows you how reliable it is

Even Safe-swaps is not that reliable,
I have solo ads that overdelivered by 20% in Clicks but converts like craps.

You need to have a overall plan for this business.
Once in a while, you will have such results.
As long it doesn't affect the overall results,
    then it should be fine.

No need to make a big fuss out of it.

Start with the warrior forum in the JV section or classifieds and look for those threads with countless good reviews stating how many opt-ins and conversions they got!

I find Reed Floren's diectory to be quite reliable.
I had good results from 2 sellers there.

They do it all the time.

For the OP. Do your research. Head to the search bar and type in "solos ads for sale". Check out the posts there then read the feedback. After that head to the next post and look for solo's offered by the same people who were leaving reviews for the last guy. Solo ad providers like to do reviews for each other. Cute and all but "it can be" misleading.

So I always search for people that get reviews from warriors not offering solo's. This may seem time consuming, and it is. I always say that the more research someone is willing to do before spending their money the more return they will see (provided the offer is a good one). Research, research, research.

This is true. It's partly to be expected, as they tend to buy as well as sell. This is not an indication of anything sneaky by itself.

That said, I would definitely recommend taking Bill's advice on this. Don't rely solely on comments from other sellers. And, if you can, take a look for the sign-up pages of the buyers. Make sure you're not depending on comments from someone who exists only as a forum profile or service site account.

No way of telling really. Getting the clicks won't be the problem, it's getting buyers. The seller can easily buy one of your products with your own money, and you would think you got a good deal out of it. You could get a list of freebie seekers, and never sell a thing to them. It's a roll of the dice, when it comes to sole ads IMO.

I've gotten a lot optins from supposedly good sellers which have never converted into buyers.

I've gotten smaller optins from great sellers which have converted into buyers.

If you find a golden egg solo ad seller, make sure to constantly purchase from that person!

      This is also my experience.

I've also had those people send traffic from traffic exchange services.

... and some are on Reed Florens list. (I appreciate he's not directly to blame though!)

yea.. how about the url referrals? Actually does it tell us anything? Anyone can help on this? My friends and I would share feed backs. The thing is that even if the SP would be similar, we would get very different results..
As for safe swaps.. the clicks never seem to be get delivered within 48hours.

Solo ad is a good way to promote your offers but like everything else, you can't win with it all the time. Just make sure to buy small first and then if it works, you buy big. It's difficult to tell who sells good solo as every seller will tell you they have buyers in their list.

My advice would be that once you are ready to start buying solos, create an Excel file and start putting together a list of solo ad sellers for yourself. Ensure to add everyone you buy from in this list but those that perform well for you, mark them as green and those that are not good, mark them as red - which means you'll never buy from them again. For example, if you buy from a seller and make sales, mark the seller as green and buy from him again.

    Hope this helps.

I would say Safeswaps is the best place to buy 'em but even then, there's tons of scammers with brilliant feedback over there.

Safeswaps - like any other community - you'll find good people, bad people, scammy people, honest people... All sorts of people basically.

The trick is with Safeswaps is to look for feedback where people are reporting sales - not just optins. If you see this then this is a good indicator that they're a good seller.

If you see loads of feedback where people are saying they got loads of optins but don't report any sales, then I'd be wary for a few reasons as this traffic could be...

    1. Traffic that is burned out as it's been adswapped and soloed once or more a day which leads to burned out leads that hardly, if ever buy.

    2. List could be built using underhand methods like scraping email addresses, Adfly etc which once again, never buy.

If you do buy solos - start of cheap and just buy small amounts of clicks of sellers and over time, you'll build a list of quality solo sellers that you can keep buying traffic of them on a monthly basis.

Good luck with the solo route

I also recommend Reed Floren's review list as above mentioned plus WF jv.

Following these when you have a sufficient sized list you can start Safeswaps on your list to build it out

I have just started to use the warrior forum to find reliable solo ads.

Unfortunately there is no way of telling. I have decided to use someone who has very good reviews and offered a lower package so I could do some testing.

I think it is all part of the learning curve as soon as I find one that gets me good results I will invest more with them.

Looks for recommendation and testimonials on here, if there have been a few from people that you're familiar with, then it would probably mean that you're safe.

You could also try to PM the people, to find out the sorts of results they got too?

Track and call them out. No matter what anyone says I haven't been using a double opt-in anymore. No real need. I always had an offer email that I only checked a couple times a week so I don't bother. I trim my list all the time as well. One way to be sure that the provider is using shady traffic. Aweber will make it a double opt-in if the traffic is all coming from the same IP. So if this happens to you. Lay it out on their thread and call them out.

No matter where you get the ads from make sure you let all other buyers know. I think that some people get so caught up in not pissing people off that they forget to be honest on threads.

The fact is there will always be good solo ads and bad ones it's just up to you to identify the best ones

Unless you can get a list of sol ads that are proven to work and send buyers then you need to start testing and keep track of everything

One of the things that really annoys me is so many people leave feedback and comments about solo ads saying how many opt ins they got or their opt in conversion was really high. None of those make absolutely any difference.

The only figure which you need to be concerned with is how many buyers they got from the ad and what price points they were purchased at.

It's no good you getting 100 opt ins resulting in a 80% opt in conversion rate if no one buys
I would rather get a 20% conversion rate and generate 5 sales

So always bare this in mind when you read testimonials and feedback

Most people will NEVER actually tell you how much money they made from a solo ad

I purchased a 125 click solo ad for $40 2 days ago and got a 54% opt in conversion rate which is fairly good which resulted in me making back $69 which is a good campaign

Very good conversation here on solo ads. I've been testing the water here over the last few weeks, and I can attest as well. Truthfully, I had just put up a capture page fresh and didn't know how it would convert. So my first go around was about 9 % conversion and no sales. I guess I got about 12 leads (over delivered on a 100 click order). Then I tweaked the page a little bit, tried a different source and got about a 20% conversion.

I further tested the same page with a different source and got less than stellar results. I can't recall exactly what the number was but I know it wasn't that great. Now in total fairness, your opt in page has a lot to do with the conversion as well as your sales page. All the blame can't be put on the solo provider. It goes both ways. But, I would agree with you that there are some sneaky stuff going on in the solo world because the demand is too great and they have to deliver the clicks.

Sometimes it brings out the worst in the good ones who tried tried to STAY good, but greed took over. It happens I guess and we on the back end are the ones who suffer.

I know this thread is about solo ads, but i need to throw this out there. On average i generally pay anywhere from $40-$80 per 100 click solo ads. Results vary depending on the source, but i generally get 50-60 opt-ins, normally zero sales.

Another great way to go about it is posting up a free wso. Cost is $40. You need a good product, but you should already have that for your squeeze page. Now, depending on the offer, i generally see anywhere from 50-150 opt-ins and OTO conversions are always better.

Seeing as the traffic is coming from the wso section, they are quite prepared to spend some money, and quite often do.

I just thought i would throw this out there. It is a great alternative to solo ads, for similar cost. You decide which one is better

Not sure anybody said explicitly, but adding some analytics to your landing age will help. Be it statcounter, piwik etc, I've run both solos and some ppv's and the stats look very different.

I was looking thru the classified section for solo vendors and I found one where a buyer did a screen capture indicating the clicks came from a traffic exchange maybe, all the clicks came from the same place. Needless to say, the vendor never responded.

Joe Benjamin is on the money, literally. Look for buyer stats in the reviews. While opt-ins may eventually become buyers, bigger buyer stats might be a better indicator of the list quality overall.
