My IM Journey - $500/week

Hey guys,

I just wanna share my story, and hopefully inspire someone to WORK and reap the BENEFITS! from the beginning...

I was the type to read and read and read...always getting distracted with a new shiny object. I've never made more than 10 dollars online, so I was almost at a point of feeling like I can't do this...

I would leave my office job, come home, throw something in the microwave ( yes, I'm a woman who can't cook) lol , then hop on google and warrior forum searching for ways to make money online..NEVER committing to ONE method.

I finally opened up to a co-worker about my intrigue with making money online. He said he himself was interested but with his new son, he couldn't focus on it at that time. Being the competitive person I am...i suggested that we make a bet.

Our Agreement
1. Pick ONE course we both agree on
2. Stick with it until we see our first dollar
3. Whomever gets there first wins (FREE lunch for a WEEK)...I'm motivated by free food and my ego wouldn't let me lose
Finally Taking Action
I will say we did help each other out with setting everything up. Since we work together, we even used our lunch breaks to work on websites or keyword research...Even though we were both lurkers ( read A LOT on forums) we were still intimidated by TAKING ACTION..so after we did our keyword research ( 2 hours MAX) then set up our site ( 30 minutes)...the rest is history.. it took WORK!!!!!!!!!!! There is no EASY WAY to making money online!

We set up Amazon stores early January..the money was slow, but it's like a snowball effect..

Oh yeah, I made my first dollar online..i think because I chose a better niche.. We set up our sites on a Wednesday and I made my first sell that friday afternoon, I remember it was 7 bucks! lol. It was MY 7 BUCKS

Yeah it's a small amount, but when your traffic builds..it adds up FAST! I don't think I would have gotten to $2,000 + per month WITHOUT a partner.

He only did one site, and honestly loves our occupation so he is comfortable making less than 2 grand a month ( i think he is making $800)..it's just extra money. I HATE my job so I'm pushing the envelope and going above and beyond to make full time income (well over 2 grand/ month for me) so I have a ways to go.

I'm now looking at odesk for a VA, so I can make this hands-off as much as possible. I get drained from work sometimes and it's starting to feel like a chore doing keyword research and constantly making stores and social bookmarks, backlinking..etc.

LET SOMEONE KNOW
If you can, let someone (anyone) know about your IM Journey. Make them check in, so you will be held ACCOUNTABLE!!! It's easy to stop moving forward when no one knows about your goals! Tell people who believe in you!!! Or tell people who don't. Sometimes we are more motivated by those who think we can't do something. Either way, let someone know.

**Don't EVER think that someone else is smarter, or more priveleged than you!! ANYONE CAN MAKE MONEY ONLINE...ONLY A FEW DO BECAUSE ONLY A FEW WORK!!!!

*MAKE IT HAPPEN*

Like I said I was an avid lurker, so my post count is too low for pm's or links so I will do my best to answer any questions on the forum.

Wow that is really great Tiffany, I agree with you on letting someone know of your success. Or at least publically state that what your doing is working. For example right now I'm making about $25 per month using amazon. So I have just started to post my monthly earnings to my blog, so I can see if I'm going up or down. Also I can show friends/family/whoever that what I'm doing is generating income.

Great post Tiffany! Thanks for sharing with the forum.

Having an "Accountability Partner" is a great way to motivate yourself to take action, and that's what it's all about.

Balancing the learning with actually taking action on what you have learned! And be prepared for the odd blip or failure here and there. It will happen. The key with this is to use the intel you gain from it in a positive way to push forward!

      Wishing you every success!

$2,000/month is a magic number. It means you can take care of your living expenses comfortably so that you can devote your full time in trying to create something magnificent.

That's awesome Tiffany...thank you for sharing with us.

I would love to know how many sites and how long it took to get to the $2000/month mark.

Did the course provide all the information you needed to make this work...picking a niche, keyword research, website setup, traffic generation, etc...

I just find that so many programs tend to leave stuff out.

    Gratz again Tiffany

Yes it provided me all the information, it did take me like 3 months to get to 2k and I have 25 sites...it's not a lot considering how easy it is to create an amazon store. It is a lot considering all of the before (keyword research/market research) and after (SEO and WAITING) that it entails. It is worth it.

      Hi Tiffany

      great inspiring story.
Amazon is what I do lately too and it's very promising.
Maybe it would have been a good Idea to stick to it 2 years ago but I must admit I was distracted by other shiny object that were promising One click to become a Millionaire solutions.
      That never happend.

You need to work on a proven system. The money will follow.

The only way to move forward is to actually put some work in. Despite what all the shiny objects would like you to believe.
You won't see success if you only read, I learned that soon
    Congrats on your journey!

    Inspiring indeed.

I have just a question. When you say Amazon store is this the aStore type of website that you just embed or you created a dedicated website?

Great Journey! Inspiring indeed. I now have second thoughts about letting my friend to become my partner. I was unwilling since I know his character too well but his skills would prove handy. Should I reconsider it again and push each other?

    hmmm..

    Thanks Tiffany!

Very inspiring indeed, we should be more social even we sat on computer all the time in working time. Become an Internet Marketer doesn't mean we should keep our job progress to our self. I always share my IM stories with my co worker too, sometimes he laugh and didn't believe that I really make money online. Anyway, I am also an Amazon affiliate marketer, we should share our stories some other time.

Once I'm focused on something, I go hard. That is all.
I don't sell a lot of product, but the products i sell are high value.
I self maintain, thats why i need a VA. I'm a stats person so I have to know whats going on with everything, and the more I build the more micro managing i have to do.. its getting old.

Congrats On Getting Some Other Income in! I'd suggest working on something that pays more than Amazon when you get sick of it. Commission is too low to I think to make it work forever but that's just my opinion.

Well done! It's nice to hear great stories and inspiration! Nice journey! I believe in a simple formula MASSIVE ACTION = MASSIVE RESULTS! I used to read and read and read and buy x 100! lol! I concentrate on a couple of things now and it's working much better than working fleetingly on 12 things at the same time!

    Keep it up!

That was a great story. It was very real. That's exactly how I felt after my first $49 sale (which I had to pay $49 to get). That's MY break even amount!

Since you seem to dislike the micromanaging so much (and I don't blame you), maybe it would be more profitable to get a site up and running, see some success, and then flip it (and sweeten the deal by including a guide on how to do what you do to drive traffic or something) for 6mo+ income?

You've been doing this for a while, so you can probably see the trend when sites start to "plateau" so to speak. I know it's different for different niches, but still. :>

Congratulations and it shows what can be done with Amazon even in a short space of time.
It's all about taking action and putting in the hard work - setting up 25 Amazon sites in a few short months is certainly hard work but once set up if you keep them maintained they should keep on earning and growing.

    tiffany10,

    Congratulations on your success!

How many different niches or markets are you working in?

What's your plan going forward? Did the course you studied give you a blueprint or a system to scale things up? Can you put your 25+ sites on auto-pilot?

    Awesome idea!

It's cool to see someone who started so recently already making some money. I'm just getting started myself and I will definitely be on the hunt for someone to do this with, much like you and your coworker.

Do you have a blog where you talk about your progress in more detail?

    Thanks!

Great story! I have a couple of questions that I hope you won't mind answering.

Question #1: Did you first sale come from your Amazon store? Or did you create your own product?

Question #2: Did you use any PPC campaigns to launch your website? How did you get enough traffic to your website in 2 days to make one sell?

I also believe competition will help keep you working. I have always preferred to work alone and generally keep my whole internet marketing plans a secret but now I think I should find someone to team up with or at least - compete with.
