Ebay Experts, I Need Your Advice On Multiple Listings...

Hey Ebay Warriors

I have a quick question. I want to sell my unique physical product on Ebay, but I know you can only have one "Buy It Now" or fixed price listing at a time. I would like to have more listed, so I'm thinking of maybe putting another one up with a little lower price.

I was thinking of offering yet another auction version, but in this one I want to offer them access to videos in an exclusive members area. But how can I do this if it isn't a physical product? Can I just say I will send them the details separately, maybe on a CD?

Any suggestions on how to do this? It would be nice to get 4 listings up...

1. One with the product at one price (fixed)
2. One with the product at a slightly lower price (fixed)
3. One with the product PLUS access to member videos online (fixed)
4. One auction listing

Suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated!

I have always had success with fixed prices. If it is your product..no need to lower price with a different listing. Listing a different package (as you stated..members area) is a good idea and then mail them the CD (as mentioned above/$3.00-$4.00 s/h).

Is it ok to just mail them a letter with the instructions instead of a CD? I want to keep free shipping to help with my Ebay rankings as well. Thoughts on that?

I bid for some item on eBay the other day, it was a poster, and I lost the bid someone sniped me at the last moment.
To my surprise I get an email from eBay saying the seller was offering me a copy of the product at the price I bid! ("He may have duplicates for sale")
Just ask eBay how you can sell duplicates and at the lower bid price someone as lost a bid at.

You can set it up as a multiple item sale.

Ebay will provide a drop down selection for "quantity" and keep your listing active as long as you still have stock available.

If it is clothing or shoes, Ebay will also let you add a 'size' selection so you can have multiple sizes on the same listing too.

There are multiple ways to do it, really.

The best way IMHO to list the same item more than once at the same time, is to slightly change keywords in both tittle and description.

    i.e

    Tittle 1 Amazing white t-shirt size M
Tittle 2 Awesome t-shirt white FREE SHIPPING
Tittle 3 Outstanding White t-shirt BEST PRICE FREE SHIPPING.

That way, eBay bots think you're selling different items.

Description needs to be changed a little too. And you don't really need to change the price.

Also, make sure you're using more than one picture, so you can change the main pic every time you release an item.

This seems like if someone reported me to Ebay or they found out, I might get in trouble. Just changing the words doesn't make it a new product or different offering. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I've done, no one reported me..just don't get too caried away with quantity..

Even if someone report you, all eBay gonna do is remove the duplicates, eBay don't punish for this.

PS. About your original post, just think about it, who wants to buy a product at original price, when they can buy the same product at a lower price with a bonus video?

      Dayne,
If you can put the videos on a CD, you can definitely sell it as a physical product and you should have no issues with eBay.

That's how I sell my software. Originally, I was trying to sell it as a digital download and eBay started cancelling my listings. To get around it, I created a CD where I put the installer for the software, created nice label, took a picture of the CD and mention in the listing that user is buying physical CD. I've been selling like this for over a year without problems.

I don't want to put my videos on a CD. I want them to be for members only, online access. This way they are not ripped off and resold.

What stops someone from gaining access to your membership site, downloading your content and then reselling it as his own? Bottom line is, you can't stop piracy 100%. Do what you can to secure your products to the best of your ability and leave the rest. There are always ways to circumvent things for those who know how to do so. Rather invest your time and energy in the profitable aspects of your business and don't let those that will want to rip off your products as theirs prevent you from taking action. All the best!

For one, I don't have the rights to sell on DVD. And second, the videos are only playable on my site, not downloadable, and locked down.

Ebay allows you to sell in multiple quantity and in variation.. So you may mix 4 listings in one fixed price listing. To make they looks difference need to setting on variation. You can add/edit variation you want.

Why don't you burn the files into CD/DVD and send them via POst?

Edit : Just saw you don't want to put into CD.. You make take alook at ebay and put keyword like 'wordpress' and start study from there.. many sellers sell digital products and sellers claimed something on their sales auction to avoid MC (listing remove)..

    Please take alook..

      Hi Dayne,

I sometimes sell multiples of the same item at different price points to test the market.

But I also have 3 eBay accounts...

That's the solution here - if it's worth doing, open another eBay account and spread your listings among the two accounts.

eBay will shut down duplicate listings, but not if they are "somewhat similar" listings, and from two different accounts.

As far as the added bonus membership / download info, you can say in your listing that you will send the log-in info via snail mail.

Then, simply email the customer the log-in info right after the sale and then ask them if they still want you to send the info via snail mail. Most people will say, "No, why would I need that - you just gave it to me?"

Dave, I also sent you a PM asking this question, but thought I would post it here as well to see what other Ebay experts would advise...

What do you recommend as far as how long to let fixed auctions run on Ebay? Or do you let them run continuously?

I think I'm going to setup 3 FIXED listings on eBay. They will all be based on my physical product (a manual), but each will have variations to avoid EBay's duplication policy...

    #1: Manual Only
#2: Manual + Online Videos Access
#3: Manual + Online Videos Access + Bonus Ebook

As far as how to handle the online stuff such as video access and the ebook, I will just tell them this in the listings that I will snail mail them instructions, but I will actually just email them after the transaction if that's easier for them.

Would the three fixed price listing above be ok with Ebay?

And lastly, should I also do 3 AUCTION listings of the items listed above as well? This would make for 6 listings total on eBay, that will give me a lot of coverage.

    Thoughts?

I keep selling a lot of digital ebook and videos on eBay.
I know it is "illegal" but everybody is doing it and so am I. I am not selling illegal products but eBay requires to send the digital products on a DVD or similar.
I set up a sort of autoresponder with my gMail that automatically sends the link for the download after I get the payment. All I do is collect the money. The prices are very low, expectations are low, and so far had no complains, no trouble. If eBay will strike me with some sort of punishment...ho well, every business has its risks.....
If you decide to ship the dvd, you can always give as a courtesy to your buyers the link for instant download, this way you can use the powerful words "Instant Download" and still comply with eBay.
Sorry for the bad advice but these are my thoughts.

To get around the same item multiple times rule, just use different titles. At least that's how I do it.
