Do you enjoy marketing?

Hi fellas.

Just preparing to go to bed after an inspiring day of learning and marketing. Being a marketer or a marketeer is the occupation to be.

So how about you guys? Do you enjoy marketing? If so, why and how?

Cheers,
Alfonso

  • Naturally, there's the money aspect of what we do. And the fact that there are so many different ways to generate an income. But, there's also the fact that you can learn something new everyday and apply it to your business in the same time frame. This makes marketing to my mind, a lot more fun than any form of traditional schooling.

Still, for others there's time freedom. You can work when and where you want, provided you have internet and if you're creating content, even without. I suspect for a lot of us here it is the combination of the ability to earn far more than we would in a regular job AND to have ultimate control over our lifestyle and time.

There is another reason that I haven't seen talked about much and that is: this business gives you the opportunity to help far more people than you could in any other profession, while still being true to yourself. In no other profession have I seen the potential to build yourself into a recognized authority while simultaneously building your business brand and to be able to do it quickly, without much cost.

I've always looked at it like this: before you decide to set up a website, promote a product, or anything else online, consider WHY you want to do it. The reason for being is what should drive all of your business decisions. Traffic, niche research, memberships, all these things are necessary to be successful. But if you don't have WHY nailed down to specifics and revisit it every so often, you'll just spin your wheels. Ultimately, this overriding reason is what will keep you going and growing.

I enjoy how easy it is. It's really just a matter of writing a load of dribble and following the paths that have already been laid out. The rest is down to perserverence: the time that you put into it. The phoniness of it sometimes gets to me, as it has with all occupations involving customer service. Fortunately, I have not held many jobs involving customer service. And, that's a good thing, because I hate putting on an act and being over-the-moon ecstatic about something, all of the time. Basically, that's why I didn't succeed as a door-to-door salesperson.

But, I just love writing. Any area of work where I can write, at least somewhat creatively, is a great avenue for me to go down. It wakes up my mind, makes me enthusiastic and makes me feel good about myself. If only there wasn't that inappropriate feeling of dread before I start any writing project, there would be no limits to constrain me.

I studied marketing in college and I hated every second of it. Yet here I am doing internet marketing.

I didn't study it EVER - and I detest that part of being online. I love to write, though, so produce the products happily enough. It only takes one look at one of my salespages to get the drift of how I feel about marketing. LMAO - very straight and to the point, this is what you get. Period. Actually, I've been a bit surprised that the simplicity doesn't set people off in the least - very fortunate for me. I've written ONE actually salesy sales page and it was a killer - I probably will never do it again though. I detested the whole process.

I think it's love and hate. You love when things are rolling and things are doing good but then hate when you put alot of effort into something and it fails. I think it's a two way street.

I'm addicted to marketing, I enjoy every second behind my computer. Behind every comment, every click, every sale there is another person. I love to connect with other people around the world and help them out. The bottomline is: marketing is nothing more than problem solving. And if you love to solve problems you'll love marketing!

    peace!

There is no point doing something you don't enjoy.
I started off on EBay when it first arrived selling iPod tutorials and was hooked from there on in.
IM is like a hobby for me and something I really enjoy.

I am completely obsessed and consumed with marketing... I love it! But i also hate it because it's so hard to disconnect from working online because I'm always thinking about it...

But ya the good definitely outweighs the bad because of the freedom

I have to agree that my business is my obsession as well. It can be very difficult at times to shift gears to hang out with friends or even to do school work (philosophy major - very dense hard to understand stuff that makes most people want to tear their hair out :p )

But it's one of the strongest decisions, if not the biggest and most impacting decision, I have ever made since by it's very nature I am forced to evolve and go along with where ever the internet takes me.

Only perceptible negative is the bored look on people faces when i start ranting about what i do. Even when it feels like I've just started talking I have to be mindful when that glazed over look hits their eyes. That's when i need to shut up lol.

I love it, it's really my life's calling/passion. I eat, sleep, and breathe it.

I knew that it was for me whenever I realised that I was still passionate about it after being in the IM industry (off and on) for the past six years. Not many things (cars and shoes come to mind) that can hold my attention for that long.

Honesty, I didn't until someone broke it down to me for me to easily understand and I started seeing results.

I used to look at my passions as art. I am creative and very right brained so marketing was a headache because its was left brained oriented.

But now I truly love it. I look at it, now, like it is a away to help people.

I think, If I don't do it, how can I be of help? So since I made it a passion it became fun and easy.

I'm loving it so far! As a beginner I'm not making truck loads of cash yet, but I'm enjoying the ride, enjoying building relationships with other Marketers and, as I've had an interest in business for many years, I'm loving all the cool stuff I'm learning. Also, nothing can quite beat the buzz of getting the notification that you've made your first ever sale! :-)

While there are some things I don't like (like the actual writing but too cheap to pay someone -- plus the fact I don't trust anyone else to do it like I do), I actually do the the idea of making money by doing something less convention (like being in a secret club) and helping people with their questions and what not.

It makes me feel good when I can answer peoples' questions. I also like the fact that the internet allows me to generate residual income. It also levels the playing field when it comes to making money, which I really love.
