Leaving GoDaddy Hosting, Suggestions?

I'd say Hostgator,

especially because you already have sites there,
so there's no additional fees or setup time,
just transfer & enjoy.

I use and like and recommend Hostgator.

Of the others you've mentioned, from what I've heard, I'd try JustHost well ahead of the other two.

FatCow had a very good reputation 3-4 years ago. I think a little less so, now. My guess is that they're nice and honest people who've had a few recent problems.

I wouldn't use Namecheap for hosting, because they're primarily a registrar and I've heard some "second-best" things about their hosting, too. (I actually use them as a registrar so I'd never host there anyway).

I would strongly vote for Hostgator as your choice to move into a long term hosting.

Their support and servers are now the best on the market.

After GD stole one of my domain names from under me, I vowed to never use them again. So very smart decision on your part to dump them.

What, specifically, are you looking for in a hosting provider?

Are you fine with using a shared server (that's how they are able to charge $5 - $10 a month)? Do you require your own private server? Do you want 24/7 customer service? Do you want their servers to have daily backup (or at least once per week?)? Etc., etc. etc.

For people who are just starting out I usually recommend for them to go through BlueDomino.com. They have an easy one-click Wordpress install, they offer ecommerce solutions, and they have 24/7 customer service. I've had good experience with Host Gator and Bluehost as well.

A lot of people seem to prefer HostGator. I'm just about to start with them.

I've been using Hostgator ever since and I never had a problem with them. Their support is quite awesome as well.

I vote Hostgator. I personally use it.

I use HostGator and wouldn't go anywhere else. Lost all my data a couple weeks ago and they restored by database in MINUTES. I lost nothing - I can't begin to tell you how responsive their customer service is - whether you are writing or calling. SO important!

I have used a number of hosting companies over the years.

I am very satisfied with Hostgator. I've been very impressed with their support. Several times I had issues with my sites that were totally my fault and stupidity...and the support folks still helped me out.

Whenever I have had a support issue, they have been right there for me. They are not perfect, but the support, IMO, is top notch.

I have a friend who swears by BlueHost, but for me, I like Hostgator.

BTW: I have heard many nightmare stories of folks hosting with GoDaddy. They are OK for name registration, but for Hosting? Never!

I left the awful Dreamhost and went to Hostgator.
I've had no problems since.

I concur use host gator. Great C panel access but no quick phone calls to the help line. Plus they do not call you every time the decide its time to sell you a new product.

Great idea to move your sites. In addition to your consideration of Hostgator check out Hawkhost, Webhostinghub, and Stablehost.

Yes I admit my mistake now; just when you're starting out GoDaddy's the only company which really advertises for registration, then knowing nothing I just shrugged and went ahead with their hosting.

Anyway. Seems like an overwhelming response for HostGator. I'll look into their multi site plans soon. And just to clarify, I don't need anything flashy like a dedicated server. Thanks for all of the help.

You should definitely switch to HostGator as soon as you can. They are fairly cheap and reliable all the time.

Godaddy hosting is not at the top however.

My vote also goes to Hostgator. I am using Hostgator from last 2 years and never had any issues with them yet. They have great support team which helps you to solve your probs ASAP.

Another vote for HostGator. GoDaddy hosting sucks for multi-wordpress installs. Load times are ridiculously slow and outages. If you ask GoDaddy support, they say everything is working as it should.

When you switch over HostGator and you will see a massive improvement in load times.

Hey sometimes the best are lurking in the shadows of the web. Efficientsites.com is the best all around for the money. Hostgator may be a couple dollars cheaper but by far not the best. Efficientsites.com get all they want by word of mouth and have endless perks.

Definitely hostgator. I've been using them for years now. I came from reseller of godaddy and they're service sucked royally.

Godaddy hands down, has the best customer service I've ever experienced. They're techs are real people. some of them own blogs themselves. This leaves space for some great conversations.

They'll also switch everything over to their servers for free. Just give them all your login details for GD and things will go smooth. :-)

Stablehost has been a great host for me

HostGator was bought by EIG last year. So .... no.
If you don't know who EIG is, then I suggest you start learning about hosts!

Godaddy is horrible. Two words: MySQL databases -- 'nuff said!

Stablehost = excellent!
Site5 = excellent if you want an unlimited host!

I tried GoDaddy and paid for 2 years hosting for my wife's website when Godaddy had a special deal. I've been using Hostgator for over 10 years and soon regretted using Godaddy, after a few months I gave up and transferred the site to Hostgator. I highly recommend them.

I'm agreeing with a majority on this thread and recommend Hostgator.

I've never had a problem with my site being down and when I did have tech issues, their customer support is second to none. Very fast and reliable plus their live chat is excellent.

I also recommend GVO. Not only do they offer hosting but a lot of other great tools used to build any online biz and under one login.

name.com for domain name registration - their control panel is the best imo. Really good call to leave GoDaddy for hosting - they are terrible.

I too have been with Hostmonster for a long time and have had very few problems.

I like Hostgator personally... but I heard they were selling up!? Wonder if it's true..

Servage.net.......and you forgot a big issue.........security. I could rattle on about Servage a little, but if you go to the site, you'll see for yourself.

I have use various hosts - shared hosting and VPS using various providers. Last 5 years i have been with hostgator and been very happy with them. They have outstanding customer support ,cheap and value for money

We recently left GoDaddy when I found they had over 3000 sites on the same server as us which made my blood boil when they tried to tell me that the reason our site was so slow to load was the number of plugins on it... needless to say that was utter *cough

I switched our sites over to HostGator and have had no issues with them. Customer service has been quick and helpful.

I use webhostinghub.com. My sites have never gone down and the customer support is superb.

Hostgator is good, but i have used Liquidweb and their service is by far the best. It is definitely "Heroic Service" just as advertised.

Hostgator was a great company, that's why so many here are using and praising it, but now that they sold to EIG I would say do your due diligence on what happens to companies that were bought by EIG and you may want to reconsider as I am doing right now (I am looking to move from hostgator to a non EIG hosting).

I started monitoring one of my sites and saw that it goes down frequently. I also had a terrible experience with their affiliate program and came to learn I am not the only one - they will do anything to avoid paying affiliate commissions - if that's their affiliate practice, I personally don't want to keep my sites there. just my two cents... a bit more research and due diligence may go a long way...

PS HostGator, FatCow and JustHost are all EIG companies along with many many other hosting companies. As for namecheap, I've been considering them, but I use them for domains and got nervous about having all the eggs in one basket, plus they have bad past hosting reviews, yet it looks like that may be changing as they are making some efforts to improve.

I also use hostgator for some sites, They are OK, but I have had many issues and I wouldn't personally rate their response when on numerous occasions I have waited nearly a day before they got back to me, maybe staff issues I don't know? Last few times seemed a bit more efficient. I have also tried a few others bluehost, justhost and not with them either anymore.
My overall preference is one I found mid last year Eleven hosting, the sites load fast and the support are back to you within 20 minutes which is excellent. As I am in the UK I opted to use their european servers, but you get a choice of where you want your data to be located Europe or USA which is another plus point for me opting for them.

Excellent decision, I prefer Hostgator or Bluehost... check the prices and make the choice.

I would recommend Host9. I've used them for years with no issues. If you've got a number of sites you'd benefit from a reseller account and you can also use this to allocate additional resources to a particular site in the group as required at periods of peak needs

if you leaving godaddy hosting, any other hosting will be better lol. just kidding but i don't believe godaddy is a hosting company (for me it is a domain registrar company).

My recommendation is Hostgator. If I have any problems I get onto chat and usually get it sorted out quickly

I've used Bluehost but i've just bought a Namecheap web hosting since they have an offer today (75% off). Great deal! Bluehost have a very good 24/7 support but they have limit of 200,000 files so once you've reach that you need to upgrade or remove parts of your website files.

DEFENITELY Hostgator. They are simply the best with even better customer service. Haven't had a single problem with them....

I have been a hostmonster customer for many years, and have had very few problems with them. Things run smoothly and the possibilities are many.

Both are great companies. Pick one of them and you can't go wrong :-)

Mistake number one that I made was signing up with Go Daddy. Apparently I'm stuck there for a while. That's what I get for starting to pay attention here after I started.

an ex-goDaddy-er myself, I went the NameCheap road, and so far no complaints. But I couldn't help noticing the overwhelming support for hostgator, so I would keep them in mind, that's for sure...

I used hostgator for long time before they permanently banned me for sending too much emails, with no warnings.

Moved to namecheap hosting and so far no compaints. Their support is same quality as hostgator and their live support answers at same speed as hostgators.

I recommend highly Namecheap.

hostgator and fat cow are very decent.

HostGator for hosting! I've used them for about eight years and have no complaints. Online chat support is pretty good.

I use GoDaddy for registering domains but would not use them for hosting. It is advisable to register your domains with one service and host your sites with another service because it gives you more leverage if they decide to pull the plug on you for some strange reason.

I'm using hostgator and I'm very satisfied I strongly recommend it!

I love the fact that Hostgator sends me $100 AdWords coupons in the mail every once in a while.

So I'd definitely recommend them to my friends.

I'm a new client to Hostgator. Paid $0.01 for the first month and then $9/month.

What I like, compared to Namecheap:
+ Amazing customer service (no, really, these guys actually think).
+ It works out of the box.

What I don't like
- You wait for 30 minutes to get to a customer service rep (but those guys are amazing, I can't express enough how less frustrating and useful they are compared to Namecheap.com)
- Old cPanel.

I'd go for Hostgator if I were you . Plus, with the $0.01 first month trial, you've got nothing to lose. There is a -$25 coupon you can use on your hosting orders.

I have never tried GoDaddy Hosting service, so I do not have any feedback for them. I do not know if they are good or bad. I have been using hostgator since I started and love their customer support and the reliabilty. Its rare when servers go down, but it has happened.

I left GoDaddy too as their speed was awful! Luckily, I moved my site onto a colleagues own hosted server- he runs several sites so has his own server and the speed is amazing..

That said, if you're not lucky enough to have your own server, I had a good experiences with hostgator...

For VPS, I personally used Wiredtree and a few other sites at KnownHost. Both well reputated, independent and worh it costs.
