Tried Article Marketing w/ Keywords but ....

I tried to submit a really informative article and loaded it up w/ keywords as all of the gurus said BUT.......... I got an email back from EzineArticles saying I could only have 1 keyword phrase per 100 words. The article didn't sound weird and keywords fit where they were. How is everyone getting their articles ranked w/ these restrictions?

    Hi

You should aim to have the keyword/phrase in the title, first and last paragraph and the body of your article.

Keywords density should be about 3% - once in every 100 words.

Ok, I thought I was using the proper density check but I guess the program I was using didn't catch density. THANKS!

ok thanks! I was using DupeFree and see my keyword density but when I had less, that little frown face came up and I was WAY under 3% so I thought I had to load that sucker up. LOL. What is that density button for anyway if it is not really calculating the "proper" density?

Here's a little hint from someone who reads articles occasionally - if I get through the first sentence or two, and I can see the rest of the article is loaded up with keywords, I don't even finish reading.

Forget all the keyword density crap. Make your articles on-topic, with the primary keyword in the title and in the first sentence, then write your article. You'll use your keyword or keyword phrase more than once in the normal course of your writing, but if you write naturally your article will be of much higher quality and more likely to be used and/or linked to.

The real key with article is to build credibility for yourself so that readers will then go to your site, get your free information and then be in your stay-in-touch system. Thus you want to focus on content first and keywords second.

Use the keyword phrase once in the title, once in the first paragraph and once in the last paragraph. Link back to your site or blog using the keyword phrase in your author bio. Ezinearticles only allows you a three word text link so you may have to shorten the phrase in your bio.

Use synonyms in place of some of the keywords. If your keyword phrase is natural and healthy dog food. Use pup, hound, canine, buddy, puppy in place of dog in the article. Use chow, kibble, dinner, snack in place of food.

Your articles should be readable and if you cram in too many keywords, it will put off your readers. Even a non-marketer will notice when your keyword keeps popping up in their face every few minutes.

I never understood the 3% density myself - because most tools tell me I need a heck of a lot more keywords than makes sense.

Ezine articles already gave us a great way to calculate good keyword density:

one keyword insertion every 100 words.

So in a 500 word article, you would use your keyword no more than 5 times.

Of course, you'll want to anchor-text your keyword in your bio as well so that you get credit from Google for having back links that are relevant to the keywords you are targeting with your business.

Keyword density is not important, at least not in my opinion. It's good to include it in the title, the first paragraph, and maybe 1-2 times in the middle and once in the end... then write for PEOPLE, not for search engines and you'll more likely get the results you want, the traffic and the viral aspect.

Lots of good comment's here. I would go with people that are saying to put your keywords in the title, beginning of first paragraph, last paragraph and anchor text in your bio box.

That's more than enough to get first page on google while still having good and readable content for your readers.

Perfecting article marketing is a long journey for some, especially myself. I've just started to really nail it down and get it right (160 articles later though). Better late than never. Here's a huge tip that people don't stress enough. Spend the majority of your time really, really focusing on your keywords. Nail down ones that get a good volume of searches with very low competition. This can take a while to do but it is what really gets an article consistent views, clicks, traffic and sales.
