Generating Content: One Thing Most People Miss

I just got finished reading a Search Engine Journal post on 15 different services you can use to generate content. And while all of these services are good (I particularly like Quora), there are two others that need mentioning.

One, Market Samurai, is a paid solution, and is in fact an entire suite of tools aimed at everything from keyword and competition research to designing ads. But there's one other module that doesn't get credit and that is the Find Content module.

Basically, you can choose from several article directories, Youtube, Yahoo News, Answers, Google News etc. And it goes out and finds up to date relevant articles, videos, and news. I'll use this to find threads, ideas and concepts that I can then "spin" (the GOOD kind thank you!) into awesome content. In fact, I'll sometimes hop into this just to see what's new on a particular topic.

Now, this is NOT an advertisement for Market Samurai. It just occurred to me that it should be mentioned. The other "service" of course, is, you guessed it, your brain. Sure you can use everything mentioned but if you can't read between the lines and develop your own unique content based on what you see, then there's an issue. It's not just about scraping content, rss feeds and the like. It's how you use the information to develop unique content specific to your readers that really matters.

Yes, it's more work, but ultimately if you're looking to be the expert and extend your personal and professional brand, this is something you cannot skip.

I personally love getting my own content out there... But I think that comes with experience more then anything...

But for certain people it can be a struggle for one reason or another! I was wondering buddy? How effective are tools like Market Samurai?

    Thanks bud,

For me Google alerts is an excellent source of new material. I have it delivered to my email daily and I always find something of value there.

Curating can be good too when done correcty. It's a case of adding your own opinion to snippets of content that are newsworthy. You are using your brain for this.

Just browse on a lot of internet marketing forums like this and you'll have tons of ideas already. That's one that isn't paid. There's also Google Alerts like what ejullya mentioned. I use it often for various purposes too.

Is it really that hard for people to pick something related to their niche and write 500-1k words on it?

People really can't do it and have to copy and paste stuff?

Like you said just find a trending topic in your niche and summarize it. Shoot even link to the articles you're quoting and what not for outbound links, unless you're trying to keep visitors on site I guess. Even still you could do an 'open in new window' type of thing.

I'm curious, how good are outgoing links anyway? I know Yoast SEO plugin always wants you to add some lol. I just link to my twitter/facebook to satisfy it.
