Of course, it depends on what you are looking to do. I personally use Amazon and using my method of hijacking traffic (PM me to get a free review copy of my WSO on the topic) make a good amount of money each day with quite little work. Amazon is great for beginners because... Everyone trusts Amazon! Also, you get a 24 hour cookie each time someone visits your link to buy something (so if they visit your link for a computer, and end up buying a stereo system, you get paid for the stereo!) I'm sure there are many people who've had success with ClickBank, but my success has been with Amazon.
    Good luck!
    Alex.

I am a member of a few affiliate sites but actually the ones I preffer are ones that pay instant via Paypal. I hate Clickbank payout system its definatly NOT newbie friendly.

Amazon commissions kinda suck in my country so I go with other sites like
    RAP bank
    Warrior Plus
    and JV Zoo

Hope this gives you a few more to choose from

We don't know what country you are in, why not go edit your profile and let us know?

If you are in the United Kingdom, there is an affiliate management company that sends UK cheques once a month to cover all your commissions for as many merchants on their books you sign up to promote.

    This is the company: http://www.affiliatefuture.co.uk
To see all the merchants they have on their books go here: AffiliateFuture

(Note I do not get any affiliate commission if you sign up from these links!)

It would depend on the type of site you have. Amazon would work well on some, CB products on others, yet on others, different types. If you have a weight loss site then neither would work that well. You are probably better off promoting a weight loss product from some other affiliate company.

It depends how much you effectively promote it. If you have strong marketing skills and good web site traffic strategies, then any affiliate program can benefit you.

There are way too many factors to be able to answer that question without a lot more information.

Some, like Amazon, aren't even an option in some places.

Give us some more details and we can maybe answer a little better.

there's no 'best' affiliate program. what works for one, doesn't work for other.

need more info about what you want and what you can do.

there are people who love adult affiliates, as sex still sells if it's done the right way.
others stick with amazon, because they find it pretty simple - find a niche, pick products, make a shop/blog/hubpage about it
others work with their own strategies, which might work or might not work for you.

there's no program you can say "it's the best and fits for all'.

p.s. e.g. in my sig there's an affiliate program, which I do believe myself. that's why it's in there - but I can't claim it will definitely will fit for you too.

Most affiliate program mentioned are pretty decent.

You should not be so concerned about the programs,
You should focus on the products you are promoting.
Driving sales, Marketing, Building your Business Model,

Don't talk about payment when you can't close sales.
    Work on money-generating activities.

I am fond of JVZoo because it lets you add your own bonus product seamlessly within their checkout and payment-processing system.

Not so hot on ClickBank -- especially for newbies due to their withholding of commissions until you meet their pay-out criteria.

Like Andy said, there probably is no 'one-size-fits-all' affiliate program -- you'll have to do some legwork and see what fits your business model best (but the ones mentioned so far are great places to start.)

Commission Junction is huge and has been around for a long time, it is probably slightly less newbie friendly than Clickbank

Try as many as possible, that are applicable for your Country.

Check the commission structures, as these are very important.

If you sell $1000 worth of Amazon goods, you may make $50.

But, with the right structure, if you sell $1000 of an internet marketing product, you could expect $500, if you are lucky, during a launch, you might pocket the full $1000

There is no best affiliate program, any product is marketable so long as the company pays the commission, commission percentage is reasonable, there is market for the product and the promoter knows what he is doing.

Both Amazon and Clickbank are very good company to start with and you shouldn't limit yourself to promoting other people's product alone, you can create your own product and keep the proceed 100%.

I like to go for Amazon, because they are trusted and you often get sales you didn't expect. By the way you should always be open for something new to find more opportunities!

These type of "what's the best ______" questions are completely useless - to the poster and to the audience who reads them.

Marketing, by definition, is completely SUBJECTIVE. Full stop.

There's no useful answer anyone can give you without more details.

And even in possession of more details, you're going to get a ton of answers from people who are merely validating their own choices.

Sorry if I sound grumpy, but the degree of "derp" in this forum is becoming unbearable... and the long-timers with the experience just don't jump in to try and correct it anymore.

Its a tough one, there are so many good groups to work for! It really depends on what your content affiliate focus is because different affiliate programs have different strengths and weaknesses. My check list to decide would be:
    - Country & which country you want to target traffic from
    - Content type (niche): eg, fashion, books etc
    - Affiliate site promotion type: eg. blog, coupon site, email etc - different platforms track/support these groups better than others
    - Pay out model, do you want to be paid by CPA or Rev Share => different networks have different models

As I work at a Network a good tip for you is...
As your site is new and may not have allot of traction yet make sure that you reach out to the AM (affiliate manager) so that they get to know you and what you want to do, this way they may be more open to work with you and support you with your needs!

I'm sure it all depends on what you're selling and how you're selling it. I've done CB, but Amazon has been infinitely more profitable for me. It's such a trusted brand that if you get traffic, you will get conversions, and you'll make a lot of commissions on things you've never mentioned. The referral rate is pretty low compared to other programs, yeah, but conversion rate is much higher.
