Getting Spammed To Death

I have a spammer who sends the same thing every day, twice a day for the last three months. Efforts to close him down have failed, the only recourse is to Paypal to get his commissions wiped.

I have tried sending the email spam to various addresses that Paypal have such as support@paypal.com and it is not even monitored I find.

Has anyone got a live email addy for Paypal that gets a response?

I haven't tried it myself, but apparently this one - ppelc@paypal.co.uk - is supposed to be a direct address for PayPal Office of Executive Escalations UK

    Hey Tony,

    How do you mean 'spammer'

Have you purchased something from this person via PayPal, and now he's bombarding you with emails.

    I'm not clear on that.

But since PayPal is the 'payment processor', you can bet they won't do thing one for you on this 'spamming' issue.

    Wow, 3 months?

I take it you have his domain blacklisted.
Would you care to post the email address of the spammer concerned, if it's allowed here.

Just mark his emails as spam & let them go to the spam folder..

Paypal isn't the FTC. What do you expect them to do about this?

@Tim, na.. not allowed to post personal info on here like that.

Would just get the OP in trouble.

      Thanks WTG,

I sort of thought that would be the case, and someone would put me straight :-)

Something just occurred to me, I don't know why I didn't mention this before - have you contacted the Information Commissioner's Office? I've had help from the ICO many times, the response is usually very quick and if something can be done it will be

You should setup a filter or email rule where whenever that email address tries to email you, it automatically goes into the trash of your email inbox. Ever considered this?

Can't you just block the user from your e-mail client?

Or if you want to have fun, set up an automatic response when he e-mails you? I'm only kidding on that one. That could hurt you if he complained about you.

This kind of spamming taking place everyday for a millions of email users. Not only paypal, they manages email address closer to moneybookers, liberty reserve etc and send email to different email addresses. I have got an email of moneybookers to one of my email address which was never used to open a moneybookers account. I immediately understood, it is nothing but spam.

Since you mentioned PayPal you mentioned it leads me to believe it might be a "spoof" email... if so you can forward these to spoof@paypal.com and they will take care of them. I've done that a handful of times.

If I misunderstood you, then another option is to setup a filter in your email client to automatically delete any emails that come from that sender's email.

Another option is to find out who the hosting company is of the domain that he sends the email from and report the abuse to them.

Hope this helps and good luck.

    Cheers,
    Coby

Well to start with, if the person is just spamming their company and they happen to use PayPal, they aren't going to do anything about it. You'd need to get a court order showing that what they are doing is unlawful and send it to PayPal as proof they are providing services to something who is using them for illegal activity. Remember, it isn't up to PayPal to decide what is or isn't legal and they normally don't want to get involved in stuff like that without a court order...

Oh man, I used to suffer from a spammer that would spam me with different email addresses and different messages (in the same tone) whenever I would block, unsubscribe, etc..

The spammer used about 15 different domains and I had to blacklist them all.

Reading this thread made me curious again, so I checked one of the domains I remembered and it was gone. Whew!
