What is the best Long Term Business Model ?

So i'm stuck, my internet marketing career began back in 2012 when i was completely new to the whole IM world, i had no idea what affiliate marketing etc was, however after joining a simple course for just $1 after two weeks i made my first $11.99, now i know thats nothing, but it proved that online works.

Soon after that i discovered this forum and since then i didn't make a penny online. Probably due to information overload.

So i want to start fresh, building a business and not some quick buck kind of thing if you know what i mean.

My question is what do you think is best to get into, now i know i wont get a complete answer here as if you know what works, you normally wouldn't share it with people, not for free anyway, but what is the best business to start for long term ?

I dont wont to post random wso's, and make $7 there and there. AS i know to make 6 figures i would need to sell something more serious.

Now what would you say is the best for that, building an eCommerce site, providing a service (SEO, Web design etc), and try and get clients ?, i also know that people do well selling informational products but is that a real business ? I know many people will say"Start a blog, or start building a list with solo ads, or rank sites on google, or use cpa" but is that also a REAL business or methods to earn some extra cash.

If you could just give me a little answer to what you think than i would appreciate it a lot.

Thanks.

There isn't one objectively "best business for the long term", Jacob.

It depends on your own existing skill-set and learning-skills and aspirations.

It really is as simple as that.

You say you think that information overload here is what's made you stop earning money, but this thread is going to make that worse for you, not better. You'll maybe get a large number of highly subjective replies (exactly as others have done, when they've asked this same question) from people who can't possibly know what the best business is for you. All that can do is give you information/impressions/experiences of other people's businesses. If you think you're already suffering from information overload (and you may well be right about that), that's hardly going to help you, is it?

Simple, Pick something that you like and are good at. If you can write then be an Author, If your good at web design, be a webmaster and so on.
You must be good and like whatever you go with or success will never happen.
    Just my opinion.

    Haha,
Strike right on the nail, Alexa,

    I probably shared this before:
I started internet marketing in 2011..
Worked on everything you can think of:
    Affiliate marketing, Adsense, Amazon,
    SEO services, blogging, product creation,etc

Always looking for the best way to make
Money online. But the results are horrible..
Little money was made, but plenty are
Spent on courses, hosting, domains, etc..

    Took up mentorship programs, but
    Also failed..

Until I met my mentor who re-align my
    Expectations about Internet marketing.

Nowadays, I only focused on two key activities
    1. List building (Not so much on solo ads)
    2. Email Marketing

I am doing fine for both for the past 6 months.
Now, I am starting my blog again to help
    People making money online.

I believe there is a process for everything
    The difference is only speed.
Some get the concepts faster and Able
    To see results earlier..

    Bear in mind:
    you are against yourself,
    Not others.

    Identify your strength and
    Compensate your weakness with
    Other helps.

    Hope this helps!!

      • The beauty in life, not just business, are the natural and man made systems that govern everything. Inherently, they are the same, except for one big difference: Human made systems are created with a purpose. They are built to harness the inputs (potential customers' attention) and produce an output (money in your pocket). How this is achieved and to what extent is up to your imagination and implementation. What you are creating is this system that turns inputs into outputs. Ideally, you'd want to maximize input (get more visitors to your system), maximize efficiency (conversion rate) and maximize profit (analyze and optimize costs).

So now, you need to decide on the best business model for YOU. Do you have unlimited resources (capital, employees, knowledge of the industry)? If not, start from there and build a system that is feasible for you, with your current resources. Build a self-maintaining system and then build another one. By the way, twitter could have been feasible for you if you had knowledge in programming, the idea, a couple hundred bucks a month for initial servers and the dedication and drive to complete the site, beta test, market, and grow.

So how do you see the world differently? What changes would you make if you had the attention of millions of humans? There is a bigger picture than "making a living," and that is having a say in the evolution of mankind.

Create a system that benefits the world and your efforts will be returned. Don't just create an idea that benefits the world, put a system in place that achieves it.

I too am wondering this same thing. I was trying to sell my beats online on a per-track basis, I tried many pricing strategies and marketing techniques....started building a list, etc.

Didn't work too well over the first year! Some success, but very limited.

Now I redesigned my whole site to be a membership website.

I built it using the free plugin s2 member

Wasn't too hard, took me about 2.5 days, maybe 3 days. And I mean, It's not 100% yet. I just finished it this morn and need to try and get sign ups, even if they are free.

So I'm trying to figure this out too is what I'm saying.

If nothing else, Ive learned A LOT over the past 14 months or so. I still want to KEEP learning too i love this stuff and I love having a website I can toy with....I just wish I was in a better market.

In my opinion the best things to focus on if you want a solid and stable online business is:

    1. creating your own products
    2. building a list
    3. create a membership site
    4. brand yourself

the branding will really come into play as you build the first 3 but after a while after you have branded yourself long enough and your reputation is good enough then people will start to google you and seek you out to buy your stuff

Building an email list is a great way to build a long term business online. You can do this through blogs, squeeze pages, etc etc.

Always deliver value to your customers - then every so often promote products for an affiliate omission - or create your own product and sell it.

I would say the best long-term way to build an online business is to sell information products that give great content and solve a real problem, build your list with customers, and network with jv partners.

You're smart to ask about business models. Business models aren't something that's really discussed here -- but they should be.

If you're serious about making money in IM, you first need to choose 1) a business model, 2) a niche and 3) a target market. Choosing a business model a basic step that a lot of Warriors overlook.

Without a business model, niche and target market, you're NOT going to get the value out of any IM info that you COULD get out of it.

Clarity is a HUGE part of IM success. It's so simple when you know it -- and darn difficult when you don't! I owe my mentors a world of thanks for bringing this clarity.

IM is actually pretty simple: you can sell only one of two things:

    1. Products
    2. Services

    That's it!

And selling products or services online happens in the same basic way for everyone, no matter what they're selling:

    Traffic > Opt-in page > Autoresponder series (or e-zine) > Sales page

That's it! It's just that simple. (We IMers tend to overcomplicate things.)

But no matter what your niche is, or whether you're selling a product or a service, do you know what your business model is?

A business model is the framework or skeleton of your business. Essentially there are three types of online business models:

    1. Membership-based model

A membership-based business model allows you to build a community of people (your members) who are as passionate about your subject as you are. Your membership fees can be monthly or annual, but either way, you're building recurring, passive income.

There are a lot of resources and information out there to help you build a membership-based business if you're interested in doing this.

    2. Product-based model

Selling products allows you to maximize your time and effort by selling items over and over again. This can be hard goods or it can be information products. Information marketing is it's own business model under the product-based model. Information marketing allows you to take your brain to the bank by creating a product ONCE based on what you know and selling it over and over again.

    3. Service-based model

Selling services can be great for 1) generating quick cash (as in the case of article writing or video producing) and 2) establishing your expertise and getting testimonials.

(Affiliate marketing falls under both models. You can choose to market either products or services as an affiliate.)

However, in the long run, your goal should be to offer services at a PREMIUM. The biggest advantage of IM is LEVERAGE. You're able to leverage your time, money and expertise exponentially online. We all have just 24 hours each day. Time to get ruthless about what you expect for those hours you spend in IM each day. Expect more of yourself and more from your business friends, clients, partners, etc.

What results are you getting for those hours you spend online each day? Ultimately, your services should be at the bottom of your funnel and cost the most since they involve your time and personal attention. (We all have a limited amount of time each day.)

The fun (and confusion) comes in with all of the endless mix-and-match possibilities of the above models. If you're just starting or still struggling to make money, keep it simple:

    Pick just ONE!

    1. Pick ONE niche. (Something you're interested in and know something about.)

    2. Pick ONE target market for your product or service. (Who will buy what you're offering? The more specific you are, the more you narrow it down, the more successful you'll be.)

    3. Pick ONE business model.

Now that you're clear about what business you're in, FOCUS! (And stop buying any info not related to your niche and target market, period!)

    F -- Follow
    O -- One
    C -- Course
    U -- Until
    S -- Successful

And remember: build a list, Build a List, BUILD A LIST!

In IM, it's easy to put the cart before the horse. Take a deep breath, step back and consider what type of business you REALLY want. Don't worry about getting traffic or buying that expensive traffic product until you know 1) what your business model is, 2) what niche you're in and 3) WHO your target market is!

Successful business people will tell you that MARKETING is more than half the effort that's needed for success anyway. So pick a niche, target market and business model. Then spend most of your time and effort marketing it.

If you DON'T have a solid plan or system, THAT'S when it's hard. A good system will shave YEARS (and save you big $$$) off of your learning curve

That's why I recommend investing in at least one good, comprehensive IM course (or mentor who will give you such a system) instead of jumping from one $37 e-book to the next. A lot of people here complain about not being able to make any money. But neither are they willing to invest in their business. (Buying a random bunch of $37 e-books doesn't count.)

The best thing I ever did was invest in a comprehensive IM course aimed at REAL business owners, not just other IM wannabes. Yes it was $1500. (It's no longer available.) But it was truly some of the best A-Z IM info I ever bought. Everything else I've learned (from the $37 e-books) since has simply been plugged into this system.

Get a solid plan or system and then work the plan!

    Hope this helps!

There are many different ways to make money online and you will simply just want to stay focus on model at a time. I personally like to build a list in a market where there are many other relevant products that I can promote in the future.

long term business mean you want something that takes a lot of effort by building it carefully. and the result will be a good passive income that can last a long time. I think affiliates program will be suited for you. it takes a great deal of effort to build a list, finding a very good and satisfying product, and then make a copy ads to your list.

As mentioned by a few in one way or another there are many business models in IM

What I would consider a longer term business model would be an authority site and list building from it

I would find something that you like to write about and start a blog with good content. You may not see results at first but if done right it can be very successful.

Jacob, all that you've mentioned above are REAL BUSINESSES (I don't know where you got your questions). Why most people are earning less (or not), and why most people are earning a lot even though they are in the same line of business depends on one thing - how you picture things.

You're right, start all over. But don't miss the small details. Start assessing what you got, what you're got at and what your capability are in terms of money and time. Then gain momentum and proceed with precaution.
