Chargebacks And How To File Police Reports About IT

Ok so the last two months I have received two chargebacks for the same item. I had to sell my website to pay for the first one and then the second one came across yesterday.

This one it was signed for upon delivery and all codes matched so I should be covered. The first one All the codes matched but signature wasn't required. I have the ip address for every order so I think the FBI could track that ip to an exact house where the fraud is taking place am I correct?

I was screwed out of $3,000 in the last two months and have had enough, I want to personally go pay these people a visit but I don't want life in prison. Such bs how easy a chargeback can be, this sh@t needs to change and now. Not only do I want my money from the chargeback but I want to sue for the damages and stress it's caused me as well.

If you have all the supporting info, why not contest the chargebacks? I win chargebacks all the time.

    Here is the process:

    1. Customer makes CC purchase and complains to business.
    - Business refunds or says no

    2. Customer charges back.
    - Business can allow chargeback, convince customer to halt chargeback, or contest chargeback.

    3. If Business contests, business submits information why chargeback should not go through (ie. good deliveried) and customer has already submitted this info to start chargeback. Bank looks at info provided.
    - If bank sides with customer, money is returned. If bank sides with business, money goes back to business.

    4. If money goes back to business, customer may continue process further through Arbitration. This is higher up level. Usually there is a fee for business to continue to fight at arbitration stage in the $100-300 range but for a $3000 purchase you will want to fight it.
    - Arbitration decision is final.

Sorry to hear about your story, but the F.B.I will not do anything for you. Your best bet is talk to an attorney and get advice on how to proceed.

That is why I do not like to do business over seas. Getting your money is a pain. However, here in USA take them to small claims court which costs you approx $100 and there is no attorney - only you. That is why I like to use checks and not pay pal, and plaintiff has after they win a case - seven years. That is the statue of limitations, so there you go. Hope that you are more careful now. A lot of sharks are swimming.

I feel for you. The question you need to ask yourself though is will the time and money you spend on chasing these guys down really be worth it?

I hate to see people get away with this kind of crap but at the same time you need to do what makes the best sense for you. Legal proceedings are very rarely cheap and quick.

Unfortunately in business chargebacks will happen. I suggest you ALWAYS require signature when shipping anything. Also I would fight the chargeback and always send in the corresponding information and the info from FedEx / UPS or what ever shipping company you used stating it was delivered.

You may also want to look into the liability of the shipping company as well. You may be able to post a claim with them stating the product was never received by the customer.

Before going for an attorney and all that, why not just respond to the chargeback claim and fight that? All chargebacks allow you to respond to them, and if you provide evidence that you shipped a product, they received it, all is good with them, etc., you should be fine.

Chargebacks are part of business. I've seen guys that right prior to Christmas or so, they'll chargeback dozens of items that they bought from almost any vendor that they can ... knowing that some will ignore it and they'll get free money.

I use to sell a marketing course by mail and I had one
customer who selected the monthly payment option
received the full course but never paid the balance. But
because this was an audio/print product I made sure
that the first payment at least covered my copying
cost. That's the tough part of selling physical products.

At least with digital products you lose less.
