    • Well firstly Scriptlance no longer exists, Freelancer purchased them last year.
Secondly how can anyone except the programmers in question give you a definitive answer?

  • For HTML service you can get from 10 bucks onwards. If it gets more complicated, like php programming, about 50 USD/day.
  • Its like asking the question how long is a piece of string...

Depends on lots of factors including how well established they are, whether they have good customer feedback etc. You shouldnt make the mistake of thinking just because they are in India you'll be getting fantastic work dead cheap, as in anything you often get what you pay for.

  • As others have mentioned, the costs depend on several variables - experience, their personal situation, the type of project, the length of the project, whether it's a team, etc....

One quick way to find out would be to go to oDesk, Elance, or freelancer and see what the bids are on comparable projects. This should give you the best estimate.

FYI, scriptlance got bought out by freelancer a few months ago.
  • Hi,

It's completely depend on the type experience you are hiring. If you you'll hire experienced person you'll must have to pay around $50 for a day.
  • it Depends of the project... Medium Tasks. 20/day for difficult tasks could be 50 o 60 /day.
    BEst regards
  • I knew an Indian programmer who worked for a fortune 500 IT firm. He earned around $1200 a month. But he told me he was one of the highest paid programmers in the company. The avg salary is about $500 - $600 a month.

    • Are your figures in usd? I just checked on Google (4/23/14) and I got this: 20 US Dollar equals 1221.40 Indian Rupee. I wonder what the buying power of this is, does anybody know? Is it a good salary for them to make a good living, or??

  • As much as they can.

Why take a shovel to the ocean when you can use a bucket?
  • In the past, I hired a few developers from India. I paid them anywhere from $800-$1500/month, but had to let them all go. The quality of work wasn't exactly what we were looking for and there were times where they disappeared. Not to say that all developers from India will disappear, but from the few that I've been with, they all did at some point in time.

Depending on what you're looking for, it may be worth either learning on your own, or paying the extra dollars to hire someone local to you. This is a primary reason why I learned development myself and have local developers working with me as well. If you're looking to make a long term proper business out of whatever you're doing, the price you pay for local devs or reputable ones will accelerate your growth.

    Good luck!
  • ok i just asking. because i think i found a good one and we spend good time fixing some bugs and consulting. So i offer him bonus for his extra time. the project was worth $100. then gave him $15 extra for about 2 days worth of work. He diddnt say how much time he spent but it felt like 10 hours max that he spent working on my site. Nice guy and don't want to lose him yet.
  • Depends on which language are you able to code in, how many experience do you have and many other things. If you tell me these information, I'll might be able to tell you a good estimate.
  • programmers on outsourcing sites, make their income based on how much each project is worth. If they can juggle, multiple projects at same time, then their income would obviously increase. Simple projects, tend to pay a lot less, but if it is a full on website and lots of bells and whistles, they could make between $800- $3000 (maybe more) a month...
  • T2007 , What a GREAT question. I would also like to know this.. Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks
  • Ask one ....
  • Why would you even want to know? Most of the time they make far less than any programmer in the United States.
