Not that I know of unless you're a licensed pharmacist.

I really think you need a license for that

It sounds like you're asking for a merchant account that processes payments for illegal products, unless of course, you are a licensed pharmacy.

    lauriat1,
I agree with Suzanne, et al, that you need to be a licensed pharmacy to obtain a legitimate merchant account.

Now now.. don't be so US-centric here. Not all countries have the same laws. What's a prescription drug here in the US, may be available OTC elsewhere. And most other countries do not prohibit the sale of prescription drugs to US citizens - they have different laws. And as sovereign entities, that is their right. Sure, it may be illegal in America to sell those drugs, but that doesn't mean it's illegal for a foreigner to offer them from his own country, regardless of who's buying.

As much as we Americans like to imagine that we run the world and make all the rules, it simply isn't the case. Me, I'm an American, so I abide by American laws... but I wouldn't discourage someone without ties to the US to look into what their own laws permit.

I mean, if you could make a fortune selling something to people in a different country, and it didn't break your own country's laws, and you never intended to visit the country your were selling to, why would you care what their laws are? You don't live there...

But, with all that said, I can't help with regard to finding a payment processor. Assuming what you want to do is legal in your own country, I would seek out a local card processor.

Actually, I'm glad that overseas and Canadian online pharmacies exist. I've used them for years for non-controlled prescription medications and have saved a bundle on a few prescriptions that I've needed. I haven't bought antibiotics or an anti-inflammatory drug for herniated disks at US prices for a long time and don't ever intend to do so.

The steroids he is asking about is a rather dubious and dangerous drug to be distributing in that manner and if he's talking about controlled substances, he shouldn't get much support from WF members, whether or not it is legal in his own country.

But ... whether or not it is legal in his own country, I have noticed many offshore NO-prescription pharmacies disappearing into thin air, including the one that I used regularly that did not offer controlled substances (like certain pain pills and sleeping pills, narcotics, etc.) at all.

So I rather suspect that there are many challenges to this type of business, including legal and payment processing.

Interesting article on the enforcement of allowing prescription drugs past customs into the US

Buying Prescription Drugs From Canada: Legal or Illegal? | ElderLawAnswers

Thousands of U.S. citizens have discovered that one way to beat the high cost of prescription drugs is to buy them from Canada, where the government controls drug prices. First there were organized bus trips across the border to fill prescriptions. Now, some 50 licensed Internet pharmacies with names like CanadaMeds.com, RxNorth.com and PayLessMeds.com have sprung up across Canada to fill orders from American consumers.

The savings can be dramatic. A three-month supply of the cholesterol drug Zocor costs $327.86 from U.S.-based Drugstore.com, but only $189.55 if ordered from the Manitoba-based Hometownmeds.com. Ninety 20-mg tablets of the breast-cancer drug Tamoxifen sell for $287 in the U.S. and less than $50 in Canada.

But is it legal to buy medications from Canadian pharmacies? The answer is, technically no, but U.S. officials are allowing it to happen.

Under the Prescription Drug Marketing Act of 1987, it is illegal for anyone other than the original manufacturer to bring prescription drugs into the country. However, federal officials have decided to exercise "enforcement discretion" in dealing with prescription drugs brought across the border, provided the drugs are not narcotics or other controlled substances. This means that as long as a person brings back no more than a three-month supply for personal use, border officials generally look the other way, Thomas McGinnis, director of pharmacy affairs for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinelin March 2001. Patients generally may order refills in amounts up to a three-month supply without interference.

What about ordering over the Internet? Prescription drugs cannot be legally mailed into the United States by foreign "e-pharmacies." But here again officials are employing "enforcement discretion," preferring to use limited resources to crack down on large commercial drug supplies and narcotics, not prescription-drug shipments for personal consumption. Thus, customs officials allow the companies to mail up to 90-day supplies of medications.

If you are selling non controlled drugs, and if you already have decent processing history, you will be considered by several acquiring banks globally. there are some aggregators who might help you out with your business type.

I had a devil of a time getting a credit card account for a vitamin company. Banks are not your friend, but an enemy. People wonder why all the hate toward bankers, but I tell you that they are very strict when it is their money. Expect them to hold your money 90 days and be careful not to get too many charge backs as they can pull the plug on you.

Here is my magic recipe. I got a friend to let me use his account - he sells industrial cleaning supplies and he talked to the the banks. He sells over 30 million per month. The vitamin company was cap at $60,000/ month and later the cap was raised to $200,000 per month.

Banks do not like card not present as it creates scary exposure.
