Apparently the AutoWebLaw domain expired on 3/18/2013. Their Twitter feed dates back to October of 2009.

Does anyone know what happened? Are they gone for good? It would be a real shame, since it was such an easy service to use. Also, it let me sleep better at night.

Mark

Don't know why that would have made you sleep better. It was a site by a marketer and not Internet lawyer created forms.

Didn't know that. It was recommended by Steven Resell years ago, and covered everything I needed. I've bookmarked your site for future reference.

Here is some food for thought, as I review contracts every day and see a wide variety of agreements, from the great to the terrible ...

The goal is generally not to "cover" an issue by having a form relating to the issue. That misses the boat and can result in exposure to a legal problem. It only takes one claim to wipe you out.

An exception would be a privacy policy, where just having a disclosure of your policies suffices.

Rather, the goal is to accomplish specific purposes.

        Examples:

How do I prevent someone from suing me if they do not make money from the product?

Who is more likely to sue? Me or a buyer? If me, how do I get my attorney's fees paid and stick it to other guy? If the buyer, how do I prevent him from sticking it to me with attorney fees?

How do I ensure any dispute will be decided in my town and not 3000 miles away where it will cost a fortune?

This is where generic forms from who knows who fall apart. The person creating the form does not have the legal experience to know the ramifications from having a certain word or phrase, or not having a certain word or phrase.

Yesterday, I was reviewing a contract and part of my analysis was the other party made a serious drafting mistake by forgetting to include a certain term. The ultimate result was a company was trying to protect itself, but by blowing the legal terms they have an unenforceable and worthless agreement - much to my client's delight.
