Ideas for creating targeted lists

I need to create a list of people who fit certain financial criterion. Other than purchasing this list, what are some ways I could create one from scratch?

I have come up with one possible solution, creating a newsletter that targets these individuals and letting them find me, but what are some other ways to get a big list of rich folks?

    Finding partners to build it for you. It's really hard and take a lot of time to build a decent list giving away free stuff the traditional way. But one partner can bring in 3,000 people in a matter of days. You just have to know how to work with them and how to manage the list.

    What do the rich want more than anything else? To stay rich, maybe? To keep what they have. To protect their assets. It shouldn't be hard to find lots of free info on asset protection. Put together a really comprehensive special report with several pages of "Exclusive" Asset Protection Tips.

    Since it's for an upscale crowd you might want to have it professionally written with a really cool product image. Give it a compelling title, I mean a real grabber. Then make it available where rich people hang out.
