Is this a new tactic? Signing your entire list up for webinars so they receive the "Confirmation of Enrolment" email for your webinar, although they didn't actually enrol?

Just got one from a certain prominent marketer, lets call him "crunch"

Pretty crappy tactic IMO, maybe it was a mistake, but I somehow doubt it.

It has happened to me once or twice.
I just use my spam finger and that's it... I never enrol for any seminar anyway as 99% of the time they use a window$-based software so that kind of "confirmation" can't be the consequence of any of my own actions.

Do you use Facebook ? Then you can make money just by inviting people to a Facebook group ! It's called the Instant Income System. How cool is that?

Yes, one or two prominent marketers are using this tactic and one of them also taught this tactic to others in a recent product of theirs. The service they use is this one: https://zapier.com/

It allows you to automate the signup of leads between certain services. So a lead joins your email list and they are then automatically added to a webinar registration.

I agree, I think it's a pretty shady tactic. Those marketers using it know who they are. Just mark the emails as spam and be done with it. It makes you wonder how great their webinars are if they need to force people to signup to them.
