Are Small Reports Still Effective as a Marketing Tool?

I just stumbled upon Jimmy Brown's small report fortune. In it, he talks about producing 7 - 15 pages of small reports and use these small reports to build this 6 figure income online. This report was produced in 2007.

Now, we have video tutorials, membership sites and other marketing strategies. Is producing small reports still an effective online marketing strategy?

Is it possible to use small reports to build a 6 figure income online?

    Sure it is.

You will actually find a lot of people are sick of videos nowadays and much prefer to consume content in the written form. Short reports can definitely work well. It's not so much the format of the content that's important but the quality of that information.

I have received a lot more value from some 2-3 page reports than I have from a lot of 1 hour webinars... and I know which one was much easier for me to consume.

Yep, as long as it provides a solution to a specific problem. I don't know how many 50+ page reports/ebooks I downloaded but never read. I simply haven't the time to read another marketers life story or the history of a certain topic. I'd much rather consume a 10 page report that solves one problem without all the drivel and fluff. It goes without saying that certain topics need to be coverd in detail, but I'm sure you're not talking about that anyway.

Short, to the point specific problem solving 10 page reports are much more likely to be read and put to use.

The important thing with whatever you give away when
someone joins your list is that it delivers REAL value to
your new subscriber and positions you as someone worth
      listening to.

To do that, your freebie must be easy for a new subscriber
to consume and benefit from. PDF reports are great for that.

However, you need to figure out if YOUR market responds
best to you via long/short reports, audios, videos or a mix.

There isn't a one-size-fits-all answer to your question.

      Dedicated to mutual success,

Yes, and yes, and again yes (and typically far more so, overall, in my opinion, than video tutorials).

Oh for sure, they are a quick way that you can deliver killer content which isn't complicated to create. I myself like a book when reading up on how to do something, videos are great but I hate to pause, rewind, re listen and it comes a bit time consuming. A small report skips all that, you can do it at your own pace and it just flows ! Just make sure the content is good!

Yes they are effective, especially to bring traffic from doc sharing sites.
If I get a video and a short report I prefer to read the report.

Reports filled with high quality information are still an amazingly
effective marketing tool both online and offline (in fact you can
make a living doing nothing but writing reports for brick and
mortar businesses that help convert their prospects into paying
    clients).

As has already been mentioned to write a report that's effective
you really need to get to know your prospect and what's important
for them and write the report so it moves them from where they
are to the next stage in the sales process.

Better still is if you have a report AND an email course that go
    together.

That way you have multiple chances to convert your prospects
into customers and you're building deeper relationships with those
    prospects.

    Kindest regards,
    Andrew Cavanagh

As others have said above. It is quality vs quantity that matters.

A 1 page report can be more valuable to someone than an entire E-Course or 2 or 3.

The 6 figures and 7 figures and even 1 figures will only start to roll in if the Quality of your advice and information is worth that of 1-7 figures ...

Yes! You can call them "white papers" or "beginners guides" and use them to build an email list or it could be a great way to get links to your site.

Yep, still extremely effective. Remember, it's what you DO with those reports and how you distribute them (and also getting others to distribute them for you) which spells the difference between this working for you or not.

As already mentioned, the report(s) should solve a very specific problem / issue.
