Anyone hired a freelancer on Craigslist?

I've never used the site before. If I wanted to post a job there, does it cost $75 or is there a free alternative?

Say I wanted to hire a freelance writer, how many applications do you think I'd get per posting? Also, does the job *need* to be geo targeted? Because it seems to me thats the way the whole site is structured.

P.S. Please don't tell me to go Elance, Odesk, etc. Been there done that, wanted to see what's the deal with Craigslist.

    Haven't tried craigslist but a friend of mine tried once and his experience wasn't really that good when it comes to finding the right person for the job. I guess what you would get from craigslist would also be the same with your experience with Elance, Odesk, and etc...

    There are lots of great freelance writers here on WF. Why not try them. You can find them here-http://www.warriorforum.com/warriors-hire/

      Hi,

      Try posting in smaller cities, which are still free, If location is not an issue.

      Also try to look Resume section of Craigslist. you may find someone fits your skill requirement. Back in 2008 we did some paid postings and results were less than desirable. things may be different now

    On their website it says that $75 pays for one job per category.
