Social Site Allows Users to Make Money

There is a site called Pheed, that allows you make money from your content, how long before it is bombared with IMer's?

Here is a little story about it on one of our local news station here in Cleveland Ohio

Jaggerjack said a few things make the site stand out, like the fact that users can copyright their material. They can also charge people to view their content. Pheed, for example, lets people broadcast a live pay-per-view event, where the user can charge $1.99 to $34.99 per view. Pheed will split proceeds with users.

Live PPV seminars anyone?

Would you pay to watch a live seminar from your cell phone, ipad?

Sounds like a honey pot for IMer's

  • Thanks! I just put out a quick update to my informal list of performance geeks about it. Seems interesting.

Sounds like a spam fest to me. Pay to watch a live seminar on Pheed? I would be no more likely to do that than I would watch a free webinar.

Interesting concept though, but once IMers descend on it, it will be a venue for PPS (Pay Per Spam)

    • No doubt about it, spammers will abuse that site. Could be big for those gurus with huge lists though. Instead of herding thousands of people to webinars, they could charge a subscription to a weekly PPV or something.
  • I stumbled across this some months ago, and heard that some celebrities were using it and seemed to support the concept of the site. I think if thinking outside the box this could be a good platform and utilized in a lot of unique ways.

Thanks for bringing it up, i made an account a while back and forgot all about it.

    • Can't you also create a email list with that or send in email. I think there's a warrior already doing that seems I it say pheed everytime I get it. Could be wrong tho. Or a coincidence
  • We had a site like this (Live PPV, etc) in development for awhile and decided to pull the plug last year because of potential abuse and spam issues. It's only a matter of time before it's tainted :/
