What would be attractive to an affiliate?

I am planning to launch my website soon and am just wondering what might be an attractive offet to affiliates.

I will have 4 products and can offer between $2 - $10 per sale.

Is this a level that would interest anybody.

Thanks

Hey, he asked what's attractive to an affiliate, and that's it in a nutshell!

That's why the "gurus" do a lot of the work for the affiliates... they give them 50% and they give them emails, web copy, videos, anything that will make the affiliate's life easier so all they have to do is send a link to their list and sit back and collect the commissions without doing a whole lot.

Frankly, $2 to $10 is a very low commission IMHO. Unless the product converts at a very high percentage, and there's a good upsell in place, I don't think this would attract many affiliates.

  • If you want to keep your affiliates happy, make sure you're offering a reasonable percentage for commission (after all, they're making sales you wouldn't otherwise have... why hold back on thanking them for new customers and new opportunities?) and all the tools they need to promote your product properly (resources like copy and graphics, etc.)

I think you should offer commissions up to 50%
it is only way how to keep your affiliates motivated.
Commissions about 10% are not interesting for any affiliate !

e.g. in our affiliate program we defined performance rewards depending on number of sale in one month... you can check structure of commissions here: www.qualityunit.com/affiliate/

If you mean it seriously with affiliate program, you need to offer to affiliates interesting share on profit !

I forget to mention that as well if the person re-orders any products then the are automatically your client and you get commison.

I think maybe I'll have to start on about 30% of total sale value and go from there.

I think what everyone is beating around the bush saying is... the expectation has been set these days that 50% commission is standard (if you want to attract good affiliates). Set your price accordingly. So, what do you want to make on your product (realistically)? Double it and give your affiliates 50%.

Anything less than 50% is sort of ignored. You'll only attract newbies that don't know how to sell your products effectively. If you want QUALITY affiliates, 50% is expected.

    yes, exactly, 50% is standard.
e.g. we give to some of our affiliates even more as 50% in case they do any higher amounts of sales in specific month

For you are important super affiliates and not affiliates, which signup and do nothing !

Thanks for all the comments, I might need to relook at the pricing of my products as 50% is high because I am acutally selling pyhsical products.

But if 50% is what is takes then I'll have to do it.

Here's the trick with physical products... you are probably constrained with pricing by competitors. So what you have to do is add value to your products. Bundle them, give inexpensive bonuses that add great value.

The way you do this is brainstorm all the 'objections' to someone purchasing your product, then create bonuses that defeat those objections.

So, if you're selling widgets... and your competition is priced at $10, but you need to price at $20 so you can attract affiliates, then you need to come up with $10 of value-added bonuses that you can offer. So, create a DVD with lots advanced techniques to using the widget and bundle that with the product... stuff like that.

Do you offer a money back guarantee?

Watch more infomercials and study how they sell stuff. Study the guy (forget his name) that sold those freakin Blu-blocker sunglasses... now that's a trip there! Excellent case study that we can all learn from.

If you look at the most popular selling products on Clickbank you will notice a recurring theme. The products at the top of the lists give their affiliates 75% of every sale.
Might be something to consider. Might be a better idea to place a pop up to an ecourse or Related free report on your sales pages. Instead of concentrating on the 1st sale think long term . A large list is 2nd to none.

    Best wishes

Affiliates (or at least me) usually look for products which will make me $20/sale, regardless of the percentage. If it's below $10, it will only attract me if it's a recurring commission.

If you have a low-ticket item, consider offering 100% on the front End. Have upsells in place, but more importantly, a continuity program setup. It sounds odd, but many smart marketers take this approach. After all, you're sacrificing immediate profits, for long-term, monthly income... well worth it in my opinion. Plus, it's always hard to attract affiliates with a low-ticket product that gives them low commissions. Mr. McDonald made a great point about clickbank. It's absolutely true.

    Hi

I think 30% plus 30% on all future orders is good for a physical product.

I would offer that as a standard for all affiliates then maybe offer slightly more to affiliates with large volumes, upto 40% for very large volume affiliates.

      I agree with that.

I will also have to develop some non-pyshical products as well to give 75% commission on those as well.
