INTERNET MARKETING

Hey everyone. I've been off this board for a couple years and had 100+ (mostly mini-sites) running on autopilot. They never made a ton of money and they have slowly declined over time. So I figure it's time to invest some time in the good ones or sell any with some value.

Without listing them all out

I thought I'd share a couple and see if they were worth selling based on the domain name. While they do have some content it's nothing special and my adsense revenue is probably a couple bucks a month at best on some of these.

naturalorganicshampoo.com
mortgage-calculator-loan.com

I also developed a search engine to find dofollow back link sites. While the website is still technically up and running, it's obviously dated. I always thought I could have made more of it even though I did manage make a few thousand dollars over time. Oh and the domain is dofollowsearchengine.com

I imagine that they're all thin affiliate sites with exact match domains, which is not a plus in Google's eyes. I wouldn't buy any of them. It would take as much effort to rehabilitate those sites as it would to build new sites.

I share Suzannes view. Especially the hyphenated domain, I doubt if many people would rush to buy, and if so it wouldn't be for much. The naturalorganisshampoo may be of interest to someone in that niche, perhaps you could look at sites that sell such and contact owners, that said I wouldn't be optimistic.

  Thanks for all the comments. It's good to see the WF is still a good place for advice. Out of curiosity is there still value in dofollow vs. nofollow backlinks? I'm guessing my old ideas to create backlinks are all out dated too. I feel like a man who fell asleep with records and tape decks and awoke to laptops and iphones!

  I checked one of your sites the naturalorganicshampoo.com. You have a number of shampoo related articles on it. The articles read well. To me the site does not have any life. It is just like reading a word document.
  
  I would spruce the site up to give it some appeal. I would also reorganize the categories. With only the limited number of articles it should not be difficult to do. It is abot 5 years old and no rankings. But even then if you give the site a bit of "sex" appeal (a theme and some pics) you may sell it for more money than if you were going to sell it as it looks now.

The bottom has dropped out of the domain market, everybody is unloading right now, if your sites have any PR they could be worth something, better to keep the ones with PR and just forward to domains you want to keep for a PR boost.

You can see for yourself what run of the mill domains are selling for on Flippa.... nothing!
