The 'change your CB account' thing...

Been reading these threads about this for a LONG time now...never thought much of it, probably because of the morons that hijack these types of threads into the 'clickbank is scamming me on purpose' thing, but I finally decided to try the new account thing.

All I can say is WOW! Absolutely unbelievable.

I've got a membership site w/ about 11k members where I rotate several CB ads. Been running the same ads in the exact same fashion for about 2 years now. They never did much at all...maybe a sale here and there once in a blue moon. I always chalked it up to the fact that they weren't really pre-sold or targeted.

Just did the 'new account' thing and the difference is just unreal. More sales in the past few days than I did all of last year. Exact same ads, same member base. Only thing I changed was my CB nick in the rotator I use for these ads.

No, Clickbank is not shaving or scamming people, but there definitely is something up with their tracking system. 1 year of stats vs 4 days of stats for the exact same ads is NOT just a coincidence or something that can be attributed to normal fluctuation in sales.

Are you sure it was the new account?

In order to be really sure you would have to duplicate that same process 968 times with the last 10 times opening the account from a different country....

Just thought I would get that out of the way before someone beat me to it

Heh. No, haven't tried it 968 times, but when I opened my new account, I did email them and said I target only customers that wear glasses. :/

(Guess that won't make much sense to many users here?)

Even more activity since my OP. At this rate, I'll pass 1 year of sales on my old account in about 7 days of my 'new' account. Same ads, generally the same member base.

Wow...now I know why so many people swear by Clickbank. I wish I'd have done this a long time ago. Never thought much of it.

This is probably a "no brainer" question, but I want to make sure.
When you set up a new account at Clickbank, can you use the same email address as your original account? Or do you need a different one?

I really think you are jumping the gun here Doug..

Are you sure that there wasn't some sort of whirlwind in down Toronto that forced a rush in sales over your way?...

You can't come and spoil the party with facts and sales figures, dude

    Peace

    Jay

p.s. Doing it with a rotator script is perfect, that's how we do it and it works a treat, doesn't it?

It's an in-house script... there are plenty available to do the simple task, not much to worry about really.. just pick one and get it working for you..

The point is, swings happen and it's completely possible you would've hit this influx of sales even without changing your account.

I don't really buy into it, but that being said, I will give it a try one of these days just to see for myself. Afterall, if I'm right, I'm losing nothing, but if I'm wrong, I have a lot to gain by trying it!
I used to think the same thing after reading these CB threads for months and months...it just seemed impossible and pretty stupid, but I decided to do what you mention above and give it a shot. No harm in trying. Personal testing and tracking would be the only way to really know.

However, I wasn't looking at 1 weeks sales vs the next week. I was looking at 1 years worth of sales vs 1 week.

JayXtreme - you might be right. I don't think it was Toronto weather, but it did rain the other day here in southwest Florida...which never happens here anymore. Thats probably the reason for the jump in sales. It was raining so nobody went outside...my members all decided to stay indoors and click on the exact same links they've been ignoring for the past 2 years.

And yes...a rotator script is the way to go. Makes it soooo much easier to track clicks, change ads, and of course to change CB id's.

I actually use an old 'paid to click' script to do this...w/ some custom integration into my membership site. I use this PTC script for other purposes as well, and originally decided on it because very few scripts out there have as much fraud protection built in as a PTC script...for obvious reasons.

Been thinking if i should give this a try myself since my sales have gone down couple of months ago eventhough the traffic has stayed the same...

BTW, how many active affiliate accounts can i have at CB under my name?? I suppose i get separate checks for each account?

      Hi Intrepreneur --

it's just a couple lines of code.

Someone actually put in some rotator code on a thread I was on earlier today...I'll see if I can find it for you....
