I want to take a screenshot of a certain webpage and save it as a image.jpg. Can someone tell me how this is done? The size I want is something like 210 x 150. Thank You.

So, you want to sell me another way to easily make "X" dollars in "X" days? ROFL too funny! IM success requires hard work and lots of time. Most newbies do not survive the steep learning curve. Anyone who says otherwise is probably selling you a fantasy.

if you have windows, you can make the window you want to snap active by clicking somewhere in it, then press ALT+PrntScrn (PrntScrn should be a button on your keyboard somewhere)

This saves the screenshot to the windows clipboard. You can then open your graphics editor of choice (even windows paint, if so inclined) and PASTE (Ctrl+V). Edit to your heart's content.

There is numerous of free screen capture software that you can download to use. I am using Screen Hunter and it allows you to do screenshot whenever size you want.

If you want the size you have mentioned, simply use a editor and resize it.

      Hope this helps!

The PrintScreen key method is a good way, but the ones I find myself using more often are the following (both of these are free downloads):

'Snippy' --my favorite, at Snippy Download

and 'Jing' --which also lets you do other interesting things-- at Jing | Add visuals to your online conversations

You can also (of course) find other options just by googling "screen capture software" or "free screen capture software" or anything similar. I like Snippy because it's so simple.

I use FastStone Capture which is great, but I use it quite often, if it is a one off or an occasional screenshot then do as suggested above ALT+PrtScrn and then paste it into 'Paint' - easy!

Do you have a PC? Can't help there -- but if you have a Mac, you can use the "Grab" program that comes pre-installed

Camstudio will record a movie of your desktop while you move the curser and point things out while you talk into a microphone. That's taking it up a few notches from what you asked for. But, give it a try. It's not too hard. And it's way cool.

Snagit is the best around. You have to buy it, but it is cheap. If you have seen those screen shots which have extra words added to them, callouts etc those are normally done with snagit.

You can save it as a jpg and instantly drop it into a word document, it will automatically format it for you

You can also use the "snipping" tool in vista.

It will do the job. and it's quick.

This is the best screencap utility I have found and it's a free firefox plugin.

      Screengrab!

Works great.. takes full page, windows, selections.. even takes full length sales page screenshots.... always accessible from your status bar too.

Nothing else even comes close.. and it's free.

I use Jing and like it. Have used snagit before and loved it, but wanted a free application, which Jing is.

Although it's nice to see other highly recommended options.

OH -- and as for the resizing, another editor I like is picnik.com. Click on the "upload photos" bottom on the left and away you go!

      Thanks all!

Hit the Print Screen key, open paint, then CTRL+V to paste your pic.

Save as, filename and drop down arrow to what kind of file you want to save it, maybe jpeg, or bitmap. Then hit "ok"

In Windows, you have two options. Press the Print Screen (or PrtScn) key on your keyboard to copy the entire screen to the clipboard. Press Alt-Print Screen to copy only the active window. Next you'll need to open an image editor (Microsoft Paint, which comes with Windows, is fine if you don't plan on doing any fancy editing), create a new file, and select Paste from the Edit menu.
You have more choices on a Macintosh. Pressing Command-Shift-3 creates a PICT file of the entire screen in the top directory of your boot drive. Press Command-Shift-4 to change the cursor to a cross, which you can click and drag to select an area of the screen to capture in a PICT file. The same combination with Caps Lock activated changes the cursor to a circle; click a window with the circle to create a PICT of that window. Adding the Control key to any of these combinations copies the screen image to the clipboard.
For X Window desktops such as GNOME and KDE, the command xwd -out filename.xwd lets you click a window to make an XWD image of it. Adding the -frame option will capture the entire window manager. The popular utility xy also does screen captures, and KDE comes with the utility ksnapshot.
Finally, if you plan to edit the screenshot before using it on your Web site or elsewhere, be sure to save it in a true image format. Don't make the screenshot endure GIF reduction or JPEG encoding twice.
