How to start a membership site with videos

We intend to charge users to learn from our videos.

Here's the set-up:

1.We record the videos.
2.We need a place to host these videos (Currently using youtube but it has advertisements and it's available for public viewing instead of exclusive). Which video hosting site do you suggest?
3. We need a system to allow our buyers to select,buy and view the videos they want, anytime and anywhere. What system do you suggest?

    To host the videos, the best is using Amazon S3 storage.

    For the digital product delivery to your customer, you can use membership script like DAP, amember etc depends on the website platform you use.

    You can set you tube to private so it can't be seen by the public, not sure about the ad problem tho, we dont have ads on my youtube vid on easymemberpro so I bet there is a way round it

    I use FusionHQ Internet Business Platform for my membership sites...

    It will allow you to use the built in video player to play videos hosted on YouTube, S3, privately or you can host them on their built in CDN.

    It depends on how many videos you plan to serve. If there are just a few (10-20), then scripts like our aMember will work from scratch (BTW, aMember has built-in Amazon S3 support and generates expiring links for S3 videos, so these links cannot be shared).

    Video hosting - Amazon S3, although Cloudfront is cheaper I hear.
    WP Member or Wishlist for the membership site.

    I have a membership site with videos...

    - I use Wishlisht Member to handle memberships.
    - OptimizePress for the members area, sales pages and landing pages
    - SproutVideo to host my training videos
    - Clickbank as my payment processor

    Everything integrates perfectly together and I would highly recommend this combination of products and services

    I have several membership sites with videos. I use GVO hosting to host my videos in there video hosting, which keeps the videos private. Their video hosting does require that you have regular hosting from them.

    I use the embed code to embed the videos in pages in the member area.

    I have my own membership script that I will be launching later this year that can do what ever I want to display the videos for example I can drip the videos if wanted. It also uses PayPal's Adaptive API for instant payments at the point of sale for all receivers.

    The videos can only be watched from the member area, which keeps anyone from sharing their location.

    Depending on what your product is and how much you anticipate making, I would be willing to consider setting everything up for you for either a straight fee or a small percentage of the sales.

      I just set up my first video course as a membership site. After much due diligence and the trade offs (cost, time, flexibility) I went this route.

      Wordpress with OptimizePress theme
      Digital Access Pass Membership software
      Video - Amazon S3 (I did this as the money saver since first gig of storage and bandwidth are free)
      Payment Processor - PayPal
      Affiliate - I used Warrior plus which integrates with PayPal and DAP. JVZoo and Clickbank also integrate as well and 1 shopping cart.

      Some of the video hosting sites are great but they are a bit pricey. Like others have said their is Wistia, Sprout and others.

      Also, something to check out. Vimeo just recently added functionality of Pay for Videos in their Pro Program. It is I think $199 a year for the pro program and then you keep 90% of the fee charged for a video. What is nice is Vimeo handles the payment so it might be something useful for us IM'ers in the long run.

        You can opt to not have ads on your Youtube videos if I remember correctly. I have about 47 videos on Youtube and there's a tab that says if you want to monetize and you can select not to have ads over your videos.

        Nonetheless some great info in here. I wanted to do something similar but not sure if I want to go the membership route or try to have some sort of "pay per view" route. Essentially I'll have most of my videos free but have small "projects" consisting of a series of videos which I would like to sell online and maybe even combine them with digital content like PDFs and project files.

        Would something like that be more work than it's worth? I've never really seen anything like that done before so it seems like it would be an uphill battle trying to get it custom made for that kind of stuff.

        I looked into the Vimeo pro but it had something in there about reading like 200,000 view limit. I wasn't sure how that would work, if you'd need to "re-up" your plan with them or not after reading that limit. I'm going to look into Amazon S3 and a few other things listed here.

    Like some others here, I use Wordpress with Wishlist on my hosting account but store the videos on Amazon S3. Wishlist is simplicity itself and S3 is very scalable.

    Most people don't consider libsyn, but you should consider them. Their hosting service could prove LESS pricey in the long run, but Amazon's S3 and Cloudfront are the obvious choice that everyone uses.
