Here's some productivity tools that I couldn't live without - save much time and effort.

(Apologies in advance - I don't have enough posts for links to show, so you might have to Google these.

ActionOutline - Categorizes all my ideas and allows me to see them all in a "tree" sort of view. Works well as a personal database when learning new material as well as a master content idea storage for articles and ebooks, etc.

NoteTab - A multi-tabbed replacement for Notepad. Good for doing lots of work on multiple text files at once. A good use is when doing your own site. You can have multiple html files, the css file, and other site-related files open all at the same time wthout having to open and close Notepad a million times.

AutoHotKey - A freeware keystroke macro recorder. You can enter text (of any amount, including tab and enter) and have it playback with just a keystroke. For example, I use Ctrl-Alt-Y to have it automatically enter (and press submit) to one of my Yahoo mail accounts. Anything you type or do repetitively could be narrowed down to a single keystroke combination.

        Hope these help someone...

These are fantastic and I had no idea they existed. My assistant will be thrilled when I tell her about them. NoteTab is right up her alley. Thanks for posting them!

This almost always makes my list whenever this question rolls around, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone else mention it before. It's great for creating re-usable checklists for procedures you follow often, for to-do lists, storing chunks of code and all kinds of other things, even journalling. It surprises me that it's not more popular.

          Anyway, current most-used here are...

          Action Outline
          Notepad
          FileZilla

Limiting yourself to three is really hard - there are quite a few things here that I use daily and wouldn't want to be without. I'm probably just a software junkie

I agree with this totally. Google's tools are sick. I would add Google Wonder Wheel (visual keyword research) and Google Website Optimizer. The keyword tool is pretty good too.

My other tool is Camtasia, Article Agent, and Aweber.

    My favorites are (MAC):

Scrivener - splits my screen and organizes for easy/fast ebook and article writing (page four is PC equivalent)

Screenflow - awesome screen capture software for Mac

Market Samurai - amazing keyword research software that does a ton more.

I love all of these tools!

  • Well without a doubt it's got to be

Roboform ( my best friend ) - can't believe I looked at it for 2 years before paying some ridiculously small amount for the enormous time savings it gives me every single day.

The Google keyword external tool - ( or as I like to call it ) God...cause it's all 10 of the commandments for me online.

Wordpress - ok I know technically it's not a tool, but man it's so helpful. And just like Roboform I took a year to come around to Wordpress also. Hmmm there's a pattern developing.

I remember absolutely loathing WP as early as 6 months ago and to some degree with good reason. But since the latest version came out and since I discovered its amazing versatility, incredible depth of resources and Google's own love affair with it....well now it's an essential aspect of my online quest

    1. My brain

    2. A computer

    3. My DSL line

And I'm not being facetious. I consider all three tools that are absolutely critical. Nothing happens if my brain malfunctions or ceases to operate. I must have a computer to do Internet marketing. And while I could survive without DSL or cable or whatever, things would be much slower and therefore less profitable. I remember my dad saying back in 1993 or so, "Nobody will ever need more than a gigabyte of storage in their personal computer." LOL

      You spoke my mind.

To me, brain is where you do all the work and rest of the things like executing is hardly nothing but mere labor which you can do with a computer on DSL or cable. And if you don't use your actual computer all other tools only catch digital dust on your desktop.
      Thanks zeus66

    Mine would be:

    1. Image Cafe at Network Solutions
    2. Traffic exchanges- they are an easy way to get traffic (especially when it comes to downline systems) and tend to be a cheaper alternative to ppc advertising. The only downside to those is that you really have to surf for buttloads of credits each day if you hope to get the most out of them.
    3. Link market- I am finding that linkmarket is good way to get useful backlinks. I have signed up there a while back and have gotten lots of links through them since joining. Also, many of the sites that you can exchange links with have page ranks ranging anywhere from a PR 0 to a PR 7.

      1) Market Samaurai for Niche/keyword searches
      2) Google Reader to centralize Twitter, emails, alerts in one easy place - This alone is a big time-saver for me. I have alerts that keeps me up-to-date with new items for my niche. See Ed Dale's thirtydaychallenge pre-season training on the use of Google Reader. It will blow your mind on what you can do with Google Reader
      3) CBTrends/CBengine/Alexa to track how the various CB products are doing (Popularity and Gravity are what I use to detemine the "hotness" of a product). I know these are three tools but I consider them as one.

    1. My brain - people rely so much on tools that it can limit them somewhat. With that said, there are some tools that when used with your brain, are killer

    2. I use Micro Niche Finder alot as I build alot of sites in different niches every week. I use it to find those diamonds in the rough

    3. Photoshop - I totally rely on it to create my own custom graphics and looks for sites. I can make something pretty generic look pretty spectacular

    There are the essential tools:
    1. A Text Editor - I use PS Pad, it "understands" PHP.HTML,XML, CSS and JavaScript
    2. A Secure FTP client - I'm using WIN SCP on my Windows machines, FileZilla on my Ubuntu LINUX workstation.
    3. A SSH-Telnet client - I use PuTTY

Otherwise I also use the MySQL GUI tools under Windows a lot, I develop my sites on a local server created with Ubuntu LINUX Server and create documents with Open Office. And FireFox with some developer-specific plugins is also an essential tool.

Online I pretty well use everything Google, especially Google Docs.

    1. GetResponse

Market Samurai does seem popular. I'm going to have to look more in to that. The coolest tool that I've discovered from this thread is that userfly website. That thing is amazing. It records video of every user to your site so you can see exactly how they browsed it. It's amazing. I just got done linking it to all 10 of my domains.

    Hi there,

    My three favourite tools are:

Fast Internet Broadband connection - I mastermind with a couple of guys in the thrid world who only have limited internet access and it makes you realise how lucky we are and take things for granted in our modern fast world!

Market Samurai - I used Ed Dale's 30 Day Challenge and this was a godsend. Up until I found this I was only using the google keyword tool. Market Samurai has much more in depth info and is helping me in my affiliate marketing, I couldn't do without it.

Jing - Its a screen capture software and allows me to create videos of what I am doing online. The max is 5 minutes but that is more than enough for my tutorial videos for my next project.

    Cheers Keith

Google - To look for products with plr to bundle into one super product.

Aweber - to make the pop ups for the site and then to keep on following up on the customer.

Difficult choice could have added another 3 or 4 needed for the process.... I love photoshop not just for the ebook covers but for making silly photos for my kids!!!

    Chrome.

Finally left FF behind, I fell in love with her, she put on weight and got sloppy, I ditched her for Chrome.

Chrome's so slinky and fast, has great dress sense and does everything FF did but better.

Now if Roboform can just get a local version working on Chrome, it will be perfect, but for now Last Pass does the job nicely.
