Building an e-mail list with Facebook?

Hi all - How easy do you find it to build an email list with Facebook? We have built FB opt-in pages with pretty great & valuable giveaways and sent massive traffic to them through FB ads but they only produce 3-5% opt in rates. Meanwhile our traditional web opt-ins are pulling 50-60% opt-in rates.

Why is Facebook so hard when it comes to collecting email, despite the huge traffic? We already have a very well established brand with 50,000+ legit fans.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    I use FB ads to send traffic to a squeeze page on my website (not fb page or script), but it seems like opt in rate isn't too high either.. So it definitely has nothing to do with your fans not reacting, but rather the users on FB generally

    Facebook users tend to "like" pages rather than sign up for emails.

    I'm also in the video games niche and my email signup rate is dismal compared to facebook likes.

    Ive been doing this for awhile. What you need to do is to send your audience to your website. Build their trust. Then send them to your squeeze page or send them to your post with an opt in form. If they trust you they will give you their emails.

    You can build a facebook fan page that is all about your niche then promote that page through Facebook paid ads. Once you have enough likes for the page, you can begin to softly drive traffic to your squeeze page by sending updates to your page. I think this way you can build a list of target audience pretty fast.
