I'm selling a site I made and I can't figure out why they're willing to pay so much for it. Is it the name? It's not that great a site, I only $2-10 a month from it.

It's currently at $655

    It may be the Domain name or the Google Page Rank 3 of your website that is attracting the Bidders...

    I'm confused.

    On your listing it says your Alexa rank is 236,734

    On the Alexa widget on your actual site it says the Alexa rank is: 911,823

    Am I missing something?

    Hmmm. I think the obvious reason for this is they profit more if they have your site.

    I don't think anyone would be willing to pay you that much for the domain name alone- not unless they have that much fortune to waste.

    Botton line: If you're not generating profit with it or you're not interested, why bother ask? Go and sell it..

    I guess it is because of the website's Alexa Rank and Google Page Rank. This is why people think they can get better results in revenue if they buy the website.

      I suspect not, myself: I think that very few people with any money are ill-informed enough to buy sites for many hundreds of dollars on that basis.

        I dare say the majority of investor type folks with real money to buy most any type of investment have absolutely no clue what alexa rank or PR rank are.

        Us web guys (and girls) know all about that stuff, but the vast majority of the folks that control investment money have no clue what either of those two things are.

        I have a client right now that contacted me a couple months back about investing in site online via flippa and others....this dude has real money and no clue what those things are...he just wants to invest online.

        My bet is the domain name.... I have paid about that for similar type names. Sometimes a particular name is just what a person wants and a couple hundred to some folks aint that big a deal.

        now, ask to have this thread deleted before the bidder sees this and questions his decision...lol.... seriously.
