Just a little question, would building a responsive buyers list with whom you have build relationships with would be a long term business, or better is it even a business ?

People tend to think that business has to be something to do with a online/offline store etc, so that's why am asking what you think.

    • Building a responsive buyers list is the
  • typically, yes. furthermore it's believed by most to be a key component in building an online business, as it leads to the procuring of relatively stable long-term income. it's been said that for a business that's strictly online, the "list" is its only significant tangible asset.

    • I disagree. A tangible asset is one you can sell. People can't sell their email lists.

  • It is a business which could be a long term one. That's how a lot of marketers make their money.

  • It sure is, the keyword being "build relationships".

Having a buyers list is great, but if you burn them out with offer after offer don't expect them to be "responsive" anymore.

Building a list of prospects and buyers isn't just a long term business "model", it's a MUST HAVE for anyone in business. It really doesn't matter if it's an online business or a brick and mortar business, you need to build lists.
  • I agree that building a responsive list is definitely a long term business.
  • It's been the longest term form of business even far before the internet.

Email List = Long Term Business?

      NO.

Building a responsive email list is only one component of building a long term business. The business itself is matching products/services (your own or as an affiliate) with buyers at a profit, sustained over the long haul.

Which means there's more to it than simply building the list. You also have to nurture and maintain the list by continually offering more value to the people on that list than they could get by removing themselves.

  • I think some people on here take the idea of building a list too literally and think they can just chuck up a squeeze page, throw solo ads at it then send out offers every day and get rich. There is more to it than that.

It's PART of a business. You need to build your email list around something like products or your blog otherwise it's going to be really difficult for you.
  • Yes and No. You could build all the list you want but without an engine (backend system) that powers it, your list is worth nothing. Just like they come on to your list, they will leave.

If you don't know what the backend system is, don't start building a list before you figure that out.

  • Yes it is a long term business but only if you interact with them and not make it inactive, i lost a good list while ago because of being lazy and inactive
  • I would not have a proper business with out a hungry list of clients.

Learnt to segregate your FREEBIE seekers from you paying customers. Look after you customers and then come back in here, and tell us what sort of ferrari you just bought, as you can tell that is how powerful this is. Look after you paying customers and they will pay you more.

    • It is definitely a business!!

Subscribers are like an insurance... anything goes wrong with your business you can just fall back on them and make the extra cash to keep it going

  • A list is a marketing method, not a business.
  • Yes, it is a long term business unless you do all the job yourself. If you do more than 20% of a job it means you have created not a business, but a job for yourself. All of us start from creating a job, but try to jump out and outsource as much as possible and soonest possible.
  • If you dont have an email list, you dont have an internet business. Your leads and customers are the lifeblood of your business. So all of your marketing should be focusing on getting more leads, converting them into customers, and getting more repeat sales from your customers.

  • Personally, I'd say yes without a doubt. Even if you don't directly sell to them yourself, there is still money to be made by selling Solo Ads.
  • You must remember that Email list can convert money
  • Not only is it a long-term business model but any long-term business needs to have this type of list!

Most IM talk related to email lists have to do with generating subscribers to receive emails to sell products or services. Basically, getting a list and selling to it to make money.

But every single business in existence today needs an email list or they are missing out on increased business. An email list is just one aspect of a general contact list business maintain of their past, current, and potential clients. When you think of an email list from this standpoint, it should be obvious why everyone needs one.
  • Yes, building a buyers’ list would be a long term business. It is not an easy job to build a high quality buyers’ list, you need be patient and work hard. However, once you have collected the list, sending personalized email to recipients to increase online leads and sales are not tough things.

    • Having an email list does not guarantee a business or an income.
It's more about the relationship that is built with your subscribers that is important.
Just because you might have a few hundred people on a list does not put any money in your bank account.
      IMHO

  • If people look forward to your content, then you have a publishing business. If they have to ask themselves how you got their email address, then you don't really have a business long term.

Personally my email lists alone have been earning a full time income for me for over a decade.
    • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • Certainly long term!
  • Building a list is the way to go! Honestly I didn't do it for my first few years online. Then bam within the first 6 months of doing so my income more than tripled. You obviously need to provide them amazing content 80% or even 90% helpful information and 20% or 10% selling. Good luck!
  • sorry for interupting you guys.. quick question,

how much conversion that you get when FIRST TIME selling to your list ?-NOT UPSELL

let say the product is cost about 50 dollar..

is that depend on your LUCK ?
  • Long term...it costs 6 times more to get a new customer on average. You are always better off marketing to your existing client base.

    Michael
  • Best decision i made online was starting to build a list

Who wouldn't want a group of people who like you and that you can promote offers to over and over again!?

    Cheers,

    Gary
