Have any Warriors either launched a crowdfunding project or funded one on any of the crowdfunding sites?

If you launched a project, what was your result?

If you funded a project, did it offer a funding reward and if so, did you get fulfillment in a timely fashion?

    OK, so NO Warriors have either launched or contributed to a crowdfunding campaign, on any site? Kickstarter, Indiegogo, Rockethub?

        Yes we have had the site and social properties up for a few years now with several thousand fans. Also, we built an email list of over 300,000 & have partners that extend the list to over 1,000,000. Our "Ask" is going to be $100k.

        Also, you were asking about social channels - I have been analyzing previous and current kickstarter campaigns and most of their click-throughs are coming from Facebook and Email lists. Anyone can check the stats on a Kickstarter campaign by getting the Bitly URL and adding a "+" to the end. You can see all of the stats. That goes for any Bitly link.

          If you have a list of 300,000 it seems that you could just market products to them and raise your money. If you sold just a $5 product to them that would be $1.5 million. Of course not everyone will buy but if even a quarter of those buy then you would have your money. You could let them know that your raising money for whatever reason and offer them lots of bonus items on top of the $5 product so they can't say no. Then raising the money should not be hard at all.

        Posting links to your own crowdfunding campaigns is not allowed. It is advertising and self promotional, and is deleted by mods when found or reported.

        Also, you posted this thread in what amounts to the WF Bar and it is business related, so belongs in the Main Discussion forum

    I ran an Indiegogo campaign a while back for a project I was doing completely unrelated to IM (for something to help raise awareness of injustices in the world).

    I wanted to raise $2,000 and I got close. Most of the contributions were from people I knew, but some were random. The key is to at least get your circle of influence to socially share your campaign.

    A lot of it comes down to the nature of what your trying to raise money for.

      "True" equity crowdfunding isn't yet legal. There are a few platforms that have launched which have accredited investors that are "crowdfunding" angels. Try AngelList angel.co

      Also, check out AngelInvestorSearchEngine.com for a list of hundreds of angles & VCs.

          Just to clarify.... Crowdfunding (via donations) is legal. (Kickstarter, Indiegogo, Rockethub)...

          You mentioned looking for investors. Acquiring investors via an open crowdfunding forum or platform will not be legal until the SEC has finished their rule-making process and then punted the ball to FINRA fore implementation. This will probably be finalized in final quarter 2013 or first quarter 2014.

    I've helped fund 2 campaigns for an independent musician named Alexz Johnson. Her first was so she could tour the US, something she could not afford to do with the money. The 2nd was her current project on PledgeMusic to fund her new album.

    The results? In Alexz Johnson's Kickstarter project in 2012 she hit her goal in less than 24 hours of $30,000 and got ~$67,000 overall. Her current project is 111% funded. I'm a fan of her and have met her numerous times. Her fans are passionate and willing to help her out.

    I've got the Rewards I've Pledged for every time, but in this case it isn't about the Rewards for me. I funded these projects because I believe in her. I believe people support you first and the rewards are a nice incentive to donate some money.

    I have not self created any fundraising event but definitely participated in various fundraising events. They are meant for bagging great experiences and huge collections. Poeple are always ready to serve for a good cause and we have always collected some good amounts through Marathon and other fundrasing activities for UNICEF, RED BARNET etc. so basically we have done crowdfunding for charity

    As a matter of interest, crowdfunding for investors IS legal already in the UK and there are various websites where it goes on - Seedrs | Invest In Startups Online for example.

    Where the UK leads, the US follows ;-)

    This is a great thread - I think anyone who tries out crowdfunding should keep bumping this thread by posting their campaigns and results. What do you guys think? I have been considering this for a while - tried it twice and failed. But if I could learn how to be successful at it I would be very happy and I think finding out what works from other people would make this a valuable asset to everybody.

    I've funded quite a few crowdfunding campaigns but these were all for musicians. I always got nice rewards like CDs and Swag.

    In Austria and Germany crowdfunding is also legal for start ups and there's a lot of that going on. platform is called startnext
