I know this is an obvious question, but where to start? Does anyone have a good game plan on what to do?

I have a blog on my subscription site, I have social pages, I have an e-mail list (not the best).

I've given away stuff for free to build up my likes and e-mail lists. I've paid to get more likes in the way of putting ads on Facebook for my free stuff.

I've tried google adwords, refining which keywords to target.

I've tried banner ads on industry sites.

My membership to my site is $9.99. 1 day of poor google adword performance ruins the campaign because my membership fee is so low.

I've paid for SEO.

Very little of this seems to work. Is there a some type of formula I should be following. I don't have the $$$ to pay a full time marketer, so I have to add it to my list of things to do. Please help.

There are a lot of different ways to drive traffic. You've already tried out some of the best methods ... adwords and FB. Success just doesn't come over night though. I get that you do not have a lot of $ to invest or pay someone. So my advice to help you out is since you already have some data with Adwords do the following.

1: Search Bing Webmaster Tools & sign up
2: After that is done sign up for Bing Ads (doing these 2 steps should get you a free $50 bing voucher)
    3. Go to Fiverr and search bing coupon. Find the guy that sells the $200 voucher for $25

There's $250 extra for your PPC marketing

    Hope it Helps

You can start by posting on this forum and including a signature with your link to your site, this will get you some traffic.

I am currently using safe-swaps and buying solo ads. I paid $14 for 59 clicks and received 23 optins to my autoresponder yesterday. Not too shabby

You may also want to try offline traffic strategies. This is an undersaturated market and not many people do it. Try business cards, newspaper ads, flyers. You would be surprised at how well some of this stuff can work.

Here is a cool site for newspaper ads.

    I hope this helps

It's difficult to say why the things you've tried are not producing the results you wish for without having a clue about your site or niche. So, I'll just generalize a bit.

    • How deep did you research your niche?
    • Did you determine that the market would support a $9.99 membership?
    • All of the above items you said you've tried, did you try them in a focused and planned launch campaign?
    • How much testing did you do in each of promotion avenues?
    • Did you split test ad/banner messages?

These are the kind of questions you need to be asking yourself.

Plan a synchronized campaign. You can do this even without having much of a promotional budget, just continue to use the free social and web 2.0 sites - focus on a single problem within your niche and offer a single solution for free to attract more interested people.

Like I said, these are all general answers but making sure the basics are covered before you start and making sure there is actually a market in your chosen niche to support a membership site are the two most important exercises you can do.

There are many many different ways to drive traffic but don't try to do everything all at once focus on anyone traffic source first and try to drive traffic from it. if you are low on budget focus on free traffic...

just pick one and focus on that...

Lets say if you want to drive traffic from social media which is free then first connect with marketers on your niche, join there groups and page. share some of your knowledge and help people and make frnds ..(build relationship by commenting, liking, sharing- stuff other then marketing too)

Many marketers have 1000s of members in there group so there is count less members you can connect with (just show them the value first)

share you blog with them, and if you provide value soon you will be able to build a good list..

if you are not generating any traffic at all, don't expect much in starting just try to drive 50 people a day to you blog.. and then scale it up..

Just go to FB right now and find the marketers in your niche

No one method can bring in the quality traffic your site needs to make you a full time income online..

Do the following & you wont go wrong:

      - First off - forget solo ads! Generally they don't work as effectively as when they first started out.
      - Why are you using Google Adwords?? There are much more cost effective Ad networks out there that offer cheaper PPC that Adwords.. Just a few of the ones I use are; Project Wonderful, BuySellAds, TrafficVance, Pulse 360....
      - Write a high quality article with the link to your website. Submit to article directories. Now convert the article to a pdf format - submit to pdf directories. Break the article down into bullet points, convert to PowerPoint & submit to slide sharing sites like slideshare.com. Turn this presentation into a video....now submit to video directory site (in each case make sure your website link is included).
      - You can pay someone on Fiverr to submit your link to your selected niches Facebook fan page...
      - Remember that PDF you created? Why not FTP it to your site domain, then insert the resulting link in your signature box. Offer your knowledge, help, experience & insight on various blogs & forums belonging to your niche (don't spam!), direct folk to your link & inform them that they can download this PDF for free. (remember to put a small statement in your eBook advising that the reader can freely redistribute the PDF file to other folk - thus spreading the word!)
      - Install a "tell a friend" script on a page on your website & tell your existing subscriber base about this page. Offer a free eBook or report in exchange for them telling their friends about your site!
      - Alternatively, you can just insert a link to your website in your signature box & write a good high quality post/comment. 1 a day should be fine.

That's some methods to help you get started anyway. Its not an exhaustive list by any means!
