There are so many posts here on the Wf saying

- Email marketing is dead
- Article writing is dead
- YouTube is dead
- SEO is dead

etc etc

So if everything is dead? What is alive and kicking in 2013! What is the way forwards

- mobile marketing?
- apps?

Interested to hear what people think
#alive #dead

None of the above is dead, if anything "It's just getting started".

People complain about it being easier years back, if you look at it now, you have tools, training programs and mentors which can help you.

If anything, getting started online is easier now than it was before.

      Just my personal opinion.

I completely agree. A lot of the competition is very weak and untrusted. It's a perfect time to be in IM.

Besides, much of what the OP described as 'IM' are just traffic generation tactics. Marketing online is a whole lot more than one or two traffic generation ideas.

I totally agree, nothing is dead unless the entire internet crashes. New up and coming things will come alive that have never been seen as lucrative before every year though.

One of the biggest things is taking your online business offline. This can be done many ways, two of the most common are live seminars where each attendee pays an entry fee, another being just putting flyers and business cards in your local coffee shops, post office and gym bulletin boards etc.

This offline strategy is one marketing technique that will still work when the internet finally crashes, but then the world economy will crash so I'm not sure who you will be able to market to anyway.

Internet marketing is hardly dead. You do need IM skills, but the opportunities are never ending. So far today I have made money in every way you are being told is dead.

"Email marketing is dead, Article writing is dead, YouTube is dead, SEO is dead"....

These are all alive and people in this forum make money everyday doing them. Some more than others, but that is the great thing about the Internet. It does not discriminate against anyone regardless of race, income, sex, money, and so on. We all have the same chance.

    Good luck to you.

I would be willing to bet that most of the people saying this stuff don't actually believe it themselves. They are just trying to convince you that the old system doesn't work anymore so that they can sell you on their new and improved system.

      Its definately not dead...

It all works and works very well...

      The problem you ask?

Its the lack of focus or attention to one thing. the people that say these things are dead are the ones that jump from one thing to another without ever fully working it to fruition before moving on to something else.

Focus focus focus on one thing until you've exhausted its potential then move on if needed...

That's just my take on it..

To many people expect things done FOR them. That is another big problem.

Learning the ropes is what any new marketer needs to do first.

Anyone who says IM is dead is just "upset" because they tried and failed. They may have been taught the wrong way of doing things and this happens a lot with all the scams and things out there.

It is sad for some people who really "ARE" trying hard. Persistence, determination, passion is exactly what you need.

It's up to YOU and only you to change the way you are.

Very dead if folks intend to start a business and get the same easy/quick SEO results as 10 years ago, that's for sure. Incredibly dead if people use the same strategies in a highly competitive niche and humongously dead and useless for those with the wrong attitude the moment they don't get results instantly, like those "$300 a month" with just 10 minutes of work emails some routinely get in their inbox. Oh indeed..

My ex told me I was going to be dead for leaving her and staying with my home 3 years ago, I still am here kicking it big time with Adsense, eBook business partnerships, SEO and a ton of other ventures started here and in BHW.

It's all in the mind, a good heart and well trained cojones. At least, it helps

Day after day there is more email marketers and people who got 4 offers in a month need to decide which product they should buy from your affiliate link or from other guy or from the another guy or from the another guy that send the same offer(in 2 words: more competition.)

That doesn't mean that email marketing or affiliate marketing is dead.

It only means that one must work harder to achieve the success they want.

Few methods, if any, have died. The worst that can be said is that marketers have to adapt to new rules and environments, but that's it.

I mean, it's quite amusing to see everybody on the solo ads bandwagon now. That was being promoted heavily back in 2005! Money-making methods are always being revisited.

The problem, as alluded to by other posters in this thread, is that people look for all-in-one solutions. But IM is just a puzzle to solve: find a way to make money (e.g. a CPA offer that pays $2). find ways to get traffic to that offer, find ways to improve the conversion, find ways to multiply that.

If people had a little more faith in themselves, they'd likely see much greater success.

Why does it have to be the word dead? Why can't it be something like evolved? That is what happens, a specific place will evolve which gets rid of obsolete, in effective old methods and better methods have to be used. Isn't that actually the definition of evolution, getting rid of the bad trait and creating a better one.

Its not that Internet Marketing is dead, it's just that there is a higher barrier to entry and a higher learning curve. Many of the social networks have put more restrictions in place. It's not as easy as it used to be. So either you have to do more research, or buy some more courses that will help you get the job done.

I dare say folks couldnt list 3 methods of internet marketing that were even close to mainstream that i couldn't double my money on this year with. and i mean full marketing methods. ie. SEO is fine...but not buying backlinks. That was just a way of gaming the system...its not actually marketing.

hell, i just took a $5000 bet last week from a marketer most of you would recognize that i cant take $500 and turn it into $1500 in 180 days using traffic exchanges. You know those things everyone says are untarget traffic and a complete waste of time...lol.

I will take side bets if anyone is up for it...lol. I will even escrow the money if you will. I am that serious.

I guess I'm one of the few that are going to say this, but there are a few things that worked years ago that no longer work now. For example:
    • Spamming craigslist and other classified sites
    • using link farms for backlinks
    • using blog farms
    • using autoblogs
    • using black hat SEO (invisible text, KW stuffing, EMD's, etc)
    • using traditional "hands off" sniper sites
    • using safelists
    • using ebay to sell digital goods
    • and probably a few more that I can't think of right now.

Now sure, these are all short cuts and black hat strategies...but it goes to show you that a lot of things that worked really well years ago, don't work well (or at all) anymore. Stick to the fundamentals and don't try to game the system or use shortcuts.

My dog is still alive !

So are my 2 parakeets !

    Seriously...

I had Amazon sales yesterday from 3 of my blogs, so I guess that is not dead yet. Some of the visitors going to those blogs come from YouTube videos, Facebook, Twitter, and even MySpace (and MySpace is soooo 2005 ! ).

I also paid a guy on Fiverr dot com to place a bunch of classified ads for me on Backpage yesterday and got a 300% ROI - so I reckon that is still alive too.

Lots of things are still breathing and living these days. Even the things some people wrongly believe are dead.

The truth is that the internet is changing with time and the old techniques are dead. The sources are the same, but the techniques are different.

We had big changes because of Google’s updates.

Too many people are trying to make money online.

What used to be exciting in the past today is boring.

People are tired of so many email messages.

Article writing is not dead, but sick.

    YouTube is losing its quality.

    SEO is a game.

The internet is working and those who know how to make money online are making money, but everything is always changing with time.

I believe that we have to admit that the techniques of the past don’t work today. This is the death that everyone is talking about. In the past everything was simpler because not so many people were working online. However, today there are more than too many people using the internet and doing the same things.

Just checked my clickbank account and people are still buying products so IM not dead.

It's changing all the time though and in that way it is no different to an offline business. In any type of work we do there is always going to be change and methods that worked will become outdated or stale. I think online the rate of change is fairly rapid and often thats when people get into the negative 'IM is dead' frame of mind.

Flexibility; being responsive to customer needs; giving good customer service and willingness to keep learning are key to staying in business for the long term - online and offline. I think we're in an exciting time, new markets and opportunities are opening up. There will always be naysayers no matter what the situation is, doesn't mean they are right though.

I think the real issue is that it's not as easy as it used to be. Now internet marketing is work, and no one wants to do real work. The other issue is that there is so much junk and noise out there. I have almost 40 million websites in my database and the statistics I run on those sites are alarming. There are millions of small sites and lots of large ones. The average number of links on a home page is 26, so 40 million x 26 = just over a billion links just on the websites I know exist and are live. A billion links is incomprehensible but if the average A tag is 4 inches long, all the a tags that I have in my database would stretch around the earth and have some extra (25849 miles).

The point is, to compete in this kind of a market, you need skills, it takes work, and you have to now what you are going after, where it's at, and what it takes to get it. It takes real marketing.

These marketing strategies re not dead they just evolved..changing strategy once in a while will definetly help you....

If email marketing is dead then that means no on use emails?I DONT THINK SO!you need to target your market, when your leads does not responded, it means you use the wrong market to target or perhaps you use wrong keyword to use in your email marketing strategy or worse you abuse your list that's why they banned you..

This also applies on other marketing stated..

Another strategy is to mixed and matched your strategies..creative, personalize strategy will definetly boost your income...

I think some dark part of me is glad that people say blogging is dead because it means I will get less new competitor. I definitely don't need a new rookie suddenly grabbing an opportunity on the same business niche that I have. but in my good side, saying something is death is a horrible way to discredit some gurus or anyone who is seriously using that method to keep their business alive.

Everything still works, it has just CHANGED. Darwin said it best, it's not the strongest nor the fastest species that survive - it's the species that adapts.

Same is true in IM. You must learn to adapt to the changes. The methods still work and they will work for a very long time.
