Online Marketing - Getting Started

Hi,

It's been a while since I've posted anything on Warrior Forums, so I figured I'd come back and see if anyone might happen to have some good advice for me that I can use to help me generate some sales for a website that I am trying to promote online and generate sales through eBay and Craigslist.

Sales and marketing is not my strong point either online or offline. I have however done some studies in the past about it or at least I've tried to do so.

I'm looking to market and sell things online so that I can theoretically make enough money to get myself out of debt and back on my feet financially. I know that it can be done, but at the moment I'm just not really sure as to how to go about everything properly.

The main website that I have is registered with Google Analytics, but so far I have not been getting enough traffic to the website nor am I getting any sales from the people that have visited my website and I am seeking to change that.

I've also tried to list things on eBay as well, but have not gotten any sales from that either. I can only conclude at the moment that I am not doing things correctly and that I need to figure out what I am doing wrong so that I can get the traffic and sales that I need to put me where I need to be financially.

I'm not really sure as to where to start at the moment so I'm hoping that maybe someone here can help me get pointed in the right direction so that I am doing the things that will get me the traffic and sales that I am looking to get online.

If anyone can help me get started and get myself in the right direction, then I would greatly appreciate it.

I should mention that I am hoping to be able to do this so that I can avoid having to file bankruptcy and can get myself back on the track towards my goal of entering the Real Estate Investing business.

Maybe I'm wrong, but based upon everything that I've studied and heard, selling online is the best and fastest way of doing that.

It sounds like you should read this thread:

By the way, making money online is NOT fast for the vast majority of people who try. There are a few who make a ton of money in a few weeks or days, but don't count on it. It might take you several more years to start seeing results.

I hate to say it, but when it comes to stuff like creating websites and using the Internet to socialize via websites like Facebook are something new to me. When I was growing up there were no such things as Facebook, Twitter, and other related sites.

I kind of date back to the 80's. I don't like saying that because it makes me look and sound older than the dinosaurs.

I've been looking at what the first guy suggested on this forum, but I am also wondering as to how I might be able to get people to go to the following site and buy from me.

The site was professionally created, but so far my efforts to get people to go to the site and buy from me have failed.

    Cherished Treasures

I originally wanted to have a site like this created, but because of my financial situation I personally could not afford it and it's for that reason that I've been trying to sell products similar to what you see on the website on eBay and Craigslist.

So far the best that's occurred for me occurred last Sunday when a woman bought a pot and pan set from me via Craigslist. It took me a long time to get that far.

It's a good start, but now that pot and pan set is sold I have to find a way to get other things similar to it sold.

I'm trying to do this so that I can make ends meet financially and try to do the things that I need to do to get decent jobs. Finding decent jobs in my area has not been easy for a lot of people because of the economy.

I certainly don't make things any easier because of my former occupation of an over the road truck driver. Because that line of work many companies are treating me like I just stepped off the boat and I hate that.

Yo, I'd suggest that you read this post over here: For The People Asking, "How Do I Get Started?" I think that will give you a decent foundation to work off of.

Seems like you have some preconceived notions about this line of work, which is why you've bounced around from here to there. Pick one niche, grab one site, run with one project, and make it profitable. Don't stray from one shiny object to the next one, because that will get you filing bankruptcy.

Good luck. I sincerely hope this (and the linked thread) help you out some.

I thought I was on track several years ago, but because of a legal issue that I've been having with PayPal I've kind of gotten screwed over and thrown way off track.

It's taken me a long time to find anyone that could even remotely help me with the legal issue, but I can't expect that they will be able to do anything overnight and I know that they can only address one part of the issue.

What I'm trying to do now is put myself back on track to where I should have been originally. The way that I see it, only hardcore sales will get me back to where I need to be as my original idea was to sell online, but unfortunately my ideas also revolved around eBay and PayPal.
