Getting traffic and sales

How can I get traffic to the following site and get people to want to buy from the site?

Cherished Treasures

I'm having a terrible time getting people to the site and getting people to buy because I apparently don't have the exposure that I need and I'm trying to figure out how to get that exposure so that people will want to go to my site and buy from me.

I've tried using a program that I bought several years ago that's supposed to submit websites to the search engines, but I don't know if that did any good or not.

I've also created a Facebook Page for the site and gotten a few likes on Facebook, but that's not doing much either.

Something is definitely wrong, but at the moment I just don't know what it is and how to fix it.

I'm not sure what I need to do to get people to the site, but I'm hoping that someone can tell me or at least point me in the right direction.

What is your unique selling point - the reason why someone would come and buy for you?

You don't stand out from the crowd, and that is probably why you struggle.

What value are you adding to the process of buying so that your visitors will become buyers? Discounts? Reviews? Maybe even stuff like lists of items that someone could buy for special occasions, or for people who like certain things... Like a list of products for the gentleman that has everything, wedding gift, stuff like that?

Once you have this nailed, and people start to buy, then you can do paid traffic like PPC to send people to your site, who will purchase.

At the moment, I'd be surprised if you'd get anyone to buy, so you'd be wasting any time and money spent on it.

I think that the first problem that I am having is that people just don't know about the site and that is something that I have to overcome.

No one is going to buy if they don't know that you exist or how to get to your location.

I may not be an expert at any of this, but one thing that I do know is that if people don't know about the business and how to find you, then they aren't even going to bother coming to your store.

That's what I've learned before, but so far have been unable to overcome.

By looking at the site, what would you suggest that I do to get people to visit the site and buy from me?

Please view the site and let me know as that will give people a better idea as to what I am attempting to market and sell.

Time. In this business you just have to keep your site up to date and give it time. I went after very high competition keywords in very crowded niches. 2 years later my sites are all kicking ass. Patience and time is all you need.
      Hope that helps.

I think you have to give away something
    not just sell

may be some kind of recipes or so
then you can start selling them using email marketing

as per getting ppl to your site
you can use 2 things ,they are my best sources of traffic

    FB pages and forums
join the groups and pages and forums of ppl interested in your field
    start adding value then

put some links back your "previously created free thing"

    Hope this help

You can traffic to this site and sales by using 'content marketing'.
First set up a blog section for your site.
Then write educating and entertaining articles on topic that relates to your product probably what will require your product.

For example using one of product I found on your site:

    Back Health Yoga Mat

You can write article or short report on following:

8 steps to pain-free back - natural posture solutions for pain in back
5 Warning Signs your back will kill you - what to do today to prevent it
5 hidden traps in common knowledge about back pain solution that can cost you thousands on your next chiropractic visit

If you write article or short report you can give it away to people that have your audience to publish or share with their users. This is called outreach marketing. You can leverage their audience while getting visitors to your site.

I will suggest you checkout a website. This website through promote affiliate product but you can see how they structure their content to promote product.

The site is - howlifeworks.com (note: this is not my site. I don't share my site in public except to people in my mastermind - lol)

    Hope you find this useful.

I may suggest that aside from blogging, use the power of social media for your site's exposure. There's a lot of social media that you can tap in to get free traffic. It will also benefit your site in the search engine ranking. Hope this helps.

From what you are saying, it is very to conclude that you know nothing about promoting a website and getting visitors to your website. And that is something way way too broad. So you need to do your own homework and start searching for different types of traffic generation systems and learn from there.

If you are on a very tight to no budget at all, then you will have some tough time promoting your site (as you have no first hand experience). So if you want to stick with free traffic generation methods then do keep in mind that these are mostly long term strategies and usually will take some time to see some great results. For example, SEO can pay off very very well but it can also take like forever (especially for newbies) to get it right. Here are some of the free methods for generating traffic:

1). SEO - Long term strategy but usually pays off very well.

2). Forum Posting - Just join related forums and be active over there. Include your website in your signature. Now the key here is to provide value to forum members, and not spam them just to get your signature out there. If you really contribute to the community then people will check your site to learn more from you.

3). Guest Posting - If you are really good at what you are teaching, then you should go for this, for sure. There are many popular blogs in almost every niche out there that accept Guest posts. So what you do here, you write best quality posts and submit them to popular blogs in your niche. There is a huge potential here if you can get your name out there on any big blog with huge traffic out there.

And so on.. There are literally 100's of ways you can promote your website for free and its impossible for me to talk about every one of those. So you will have to do your homework and research into these yourself. Now what I would recommend you is to basically look into the above mentioned three major free (high quality, target traffic) generation methods and try to learn as much as you can about these. There is too much to learn about SEO alone. So dont try to learn everything out there. Because you are better off to learn and perform these three free methods for the next 3 months then to read about dozens of methods out there. Thats it for this post. I wish you best of luck.

I see you have an affiliate program, so perhaps you can contact blog owners to join the program to promote your site.
Also list your site on as many affiliate platforms as possible.
Contact all cashback/rebate websites to list your site.

Meanwhile write a blog to bring in traffic from search engines. Target long tail keywords with low competition. In several weeks you'll start seeing traffic from the search engines.

    Hi there!

    Alexa Statistics Summary for cherishedtreasures.biz

Alexa Rank: 24,416,784 (This means that there are 24,416,783 sites with a better three-month global Alexa traffic rank than Cherishedtreasures.biz). Not good.

Google PR: n/a (not even ranked, not good either).

    Some problems:

You have 53 keywords in your home page ... that is probably too many keywords (keyword stuffing has not worked for a looooong time). I think you should consider keeping only the best keywords and ditching the rest.

You also have an (empty) link exchange page. Remember that Google does not like link exchanges ...

You have practically no inbound links (5).

    --- also ---

Your prices are too high! I checked a few items:

    Heart Windcatcher
    Your price: $9.95 + Shipping
    Amazon: $9.62 + Shipping

    Verdigris Gazebo Birdfeeder
    Your Price: $39.95 + Shipping
    Amazon: $27.95

Etc. It looks like pretty much everything you have in your site can be found in Amazon (and probably eBay) for less.

To me this sounds depressingly familiar ... I have some friends that had (notice the past tense) an Amazon store. Their problem was always the same as yours: finding products that you can sell with a decent markup is a bear. They were selling books, but the idea is the same. In the end they just gave up.

OK. So much for the bad stuff. On your side:

    - The site design looks OK to me

    - You need to build some quality links in high PR (PR=Page Rank) sites, but PLEASE do not, repeat, do not hire a spammer to sprinkle backlinks all over the place. A few good links in highly ranked sites will do a lot more good than hundred of crappy, spammy links.

    - How much margin do you have on these items? Take the Heart Windcatcher, for example. You are selling it at $9.95, the best Amazon offer is $9.62. If your profit margin is high enough you could list this item in Amazon and be in position #1 ...

I will be looking into what you said. You're right about the Google Traffic and that's why I was asking. I've got Google Analytics and Bing hooked up to the site, but at the moment I am not getting the traffic that I should be and that's what I'm trying to change if I can.

Nice site. Are all of the products on your site stored in inventory at your office or home? Or will you be using the sales from products made, and use the money to drop ship the products? You sell a wide variety of products... do you have a purchasing, warehousing, or inventory department.

Thank you for the compliment. I don't personally store any of the items, but I could if I had the money to buy the products and to store them. I however believe that to be unnecessary.

My plan with the site and with eBay is to use the money from the sales to have the products drop shipped from my supplier to the customer as that saves me the hassle of having to buy the products upfront, store them and then hope that someone will buy the products from me.

I believe that when you're first starting out that it's cheaper to have the products drop shipped than to buy the products, store them and hope that someone buys because more often than not my supplier does update their inventory and sometimes will discontinue an item and add new items to the mix.

It's also good because it allows the customer the ability to choose for themselves what they want to buy and what they don't want to buy and it allows them to order the product anytime they wish without having to wait for the store to open and it saves them the time and money that they would have to spend driving to the store, finding the item, standing in line to buy the item, and then driving home with the item.

Both ideas have their advantages and disadvantages. Driving to the store, finding the item, standing in line, and then driving home with the item is faster but it still leaves a lot to be desired as well.

Having the item drop shipped allows the customer the ability to order the product anytime they wish day or night and then have it shipped right to their doorstep.

I can't say that I have all the answers behind all this, but I have gotten a lot of ideas from reading a few books relating to e-commerce and from people like Robert Allen where he talks about creating multiple streams of income.

I've also read some stuff relating to creating mini-sites as well. I don't know as to how well that works or not, but I do like the idea of having at least one or more e-commerce websites that will allow people buy things from you anytime of the day or night.

I'm also very aware that if done right people can make decent money at it. Staples is a good example. While Staples has physical store that people can go to and shop, they according to them make most of their money through their website. According to one Staples person that I spoke with several years ago, Staples makes more money from their website than they do from all their physical stores put together.

That in my book is impressive and I certainly would like to get to that level myself as my whole idea from the beginning was to create a website like this and then market it on the Internet and make money from it. At the time however I did not have the money to have the website created or the technical skills behind it and I still don't either and that is why I have been trying to sell on eBay as well because in theory that would give me both the time and the money to learn how to create websites like that myself using programs like Dreamweaver or Expression Web.

I got the idea originally from a truck driver that I met while I was driving truck over the road. He was an owner Operator for Swift and when I told him about my idea he said that he learned how to create e-commerce websites and that he was making money from them in addition to driving truck over the road.

I personally don't care for the driving the over the road aspect because I have done that before and it sucks and that is why I have been trying to find ways of getting people to this website and buying from me and it's why I've been trying to sell on eBay as well as it's the best way that I know of for getting out of debt and back onto my feet little by little.

It's also been suggested that I work a regular job as well and I agree with that concept, but because of the economy and my work history I haven't had much luck with that as most of the potential employers that I've tried to get jobs with have been treating me like I've never worked a day in my life. I hate that, but at the moment I'm not really sure as to how to overcome it.

There are many ways, finding a keyword and working to get the site to page 1 of Google for that keyword that is relevant and buyer friendly to your products is one.

Another, less sure, but less time consuming method is to pay a small amount, (you can start at $1/day for a month, so $31), for a super targeted facebook ad. Think targeting only people who like etsy, or something similar to your products, in only united states and UK and Australia, maybe only women, maybe only a specific age range.

    Hope that helps!

The first thing you must do before you start receiving traffic to your website is setup a website stats system that can enable you to know and analyze where your traffic come from. Then your website advertizing plan will focus on how to get your website ranked well on the search engines. that means you have to take your time to choose the keywords ( at least 20 keywords ) that have both less competition and less CPC on google adword. Once this happens, then you are ready to do every thing you know or don`t know to get traffic and make sales

I thought that I did that when I setup a Google Analytics account and a Bing account and linked them to the site.

Am I overlooking something that I didn't consider before?

I was unable to look at your site this morning. When I click on the link I get server not found.

Pinterest is great for getting traffic to a site if you have great images to pin. It has doubled the traffic to my site.

You can buy a fiverr gig to get you started. Make sure you create a business account and get your website verified to get a backlink.

Pin and repin other people's pictures as well as you own. That's the etiquette on Pinterest.
Follow other people in your niche, like and comment on other pictures.

I think your site have good and catchy design, but there is nothing that I can remember after I close your site. Selling something on internet is different from selling in a shop, you don't just put your item in the web and expect sales. My only suggestion is, keep people coming to your site after their first visit. Maybe make a maskot, give tips about how to do simple home design, etc.
