URGENT! Newbie wakes up with 7/24hour fiverr gigs. Ratings at risk!

I'm new at this, what was I thinking?

I've been around here reading how to write effectively in 20 minutes. But seriously you guys. How am I supposed to pump out 4 articles and 3 product reviews, before 9 o'clock tonight?

I need help. Frankly i don't care I have to be smart, I'd rather sell these sale then get 1 thumbs down on fiver! There is twenty dollars in my account and I'm still working on the second gig.

What can I possibly do to curb this learning curb, I'm sorry I only come to guys when I have emergencies, but truthfully, there hardly ever a reason to post, there is so much information. Anyway. Who wants these account, no seriously, it ain't nothing but a thing.

Yes I can write but It takes me 2 hours to do so. Look right now I'm not looking at the money, I'm looking to be active online, working on building myself up to be a proper, verified member of the online community, but this fiverr gig, came as a super surprise. First I didn't think anyone would see it. It's over here please help! I don't know what to say, I don't know how to make it any clearer. The goal here today in the post is to save the account any thumbs down.

So, how do you want to work this out, temporarily switch the account to your paypal? huh, no? How about I pay you 20 dollars on through what ever is TOS proper. I really don't care. really.... I'm kind of panicking.

..............now is not the time to hold back.............................................. ...I think I'm going to be sick...........

Instead of writing that long post, shut up and get to work. If you're trying to build your self to get work, do the damn work. You wanted it, you've got it, take action. Nothing in life comes easy, just do it.

This is the best advice that you can get. Nothing in life comes easy, especially when your goal is to be successful and make money online.

Take action, learn, and make money.

You could always private message the customer and let them know it will take a day longer to complete the work. Offer one or more a refund if they cannot wait that long.

Change your gig to state delivery in 3 days and stop advertising 24 hour work that you can't deliver.

Writing is not the most practical gig for Fiverr because it is too time consuming - as you found out. Find something else you can do that takes a lot less time to complete.

Who says what? Besides, the crisis was averted without having to change anything. The only thing I changed was my mind about keeping the gig open.

There's a difference between legitimate (credited) borrowing or taking inspiration from something, and stealing something and running it through a spinner, as one poster suggested and then tried to defend.

Carolyn, I'm glad you got the work done. Good for you. The way you described how you got your gig descriptions illustrates the difference between "inspiration and borrowing" and "stealing".

            John,

Since you decided to step into the batter box, it's time to get the fast ball right between your eyes.

            Reading comprehension, wtf, is it?

So please, go on and show me where anyone in this entire thread before I posted said to "find something, steal it, and run it through a spinner."

I'm waiting....(Protip: I'd be waiting until I turned old and gray and died in front of my computer before you can come up with it, because here's the secret, such a suggestion doesn't exist.....)

Jason, the reference to a spinner was a one line post following Abdulr's suggestion to use a line-by-line rewriting tool. When people (including me) called him out for advocating plagiarism, the missing post said, and I quote, "You could always run it through a spinner".

That post is no longer there, and its short existence predated your entry into the thread.

Then I'll step up and apologize if it was there. When I read the thread and posted there was no mention of a spinner tool. Only the tool that helps you rewrite something in your own words, which is what made me fly off the handle.

Because as I said previously, if you don't think the same things aren't being said in different ways, then you have serious issues with reality. (I don't mean you, personally, I just mean in general.)

I am not an experienced writer and I only do my own,. With that said, I can write a review in a bout 1/2 hour and I can write an article in about an hour. Now, if you are experienced, and you should be if you are advertising your services, you should have it all done in about 3 hours.

      So, what is the problem?

To be bluntly honest with you Carolynn, I don't think you will receive a very sympathetic reception from the Copywriting Forum. Fot the most part, it's subscribers are high dollar writers, not article writers and certainly not Fiverr writers. I'm not trying to be unkind, just saying it as it is.

Carolynn, pause or close the gig so you don't get any more buyers (if you haven't already).

Next, contact the buyers and let them know you've ended up with more work than you can handle and tell them this:

    1. You will go above and beyond what they asked for and deliver a much better article than they paid for (maybe in length or whatever) but it will take longer.

    2. If they find that unacceptable, tell them you will attempt to deliver the work as planned but won't make any promises.

Next, prioritize your clients by those who need it the fastest and complete those articles first. Then work on the ones who said it could be longer.

Finally, long term - don't offer a gig like this again. It's not profitable work for your time and just adds enormous amount of stress, as you can see.

Head over to iwriter and order those articles. They deliver amazing fast in my experience. Check if they're well written, pay them and deliver to your costumers. You will have to take the $3/article option to get quality and maybe loose money on this, but it will save your Fiverr account.

After this change your Gigs turn around time if you can't deliver. If you are no writer - sorry to say- but stop offering writing gigs...

I used to write for fiverr as well... not the best source of work.

You should just pause your gigs and focus on completing the orders you have left. If you can't complete the orders you can always hire someone from here to complete them for you (though it might be difficult to find someone who can get them done on such a short notice).

When you start your gigs again give yourself more time for each gig like 2 days or so.

What can I possibly do to curb this learning curb
      It's not a learning "curb" - it's a learning "curve".

I'm sure the OP will get this worked out - and probably get good Fiverr ratings...but it's not a gig you can repeat or make money with.

I'd rethink writing for others if it takes 2 hrs to write one $5 article. It's not worth it. Find something else you can offer that has a reasonable time frame.

With the idea of outsourcing, this may something that is good for you to have as a backup. Go to iwriter, pick 3 different writers and outsource one article to each one. Probably at least one of them will give you back reasonable copy. You may need (and probably will want to) edit all 3. However, editing goes much faster than the initial writing so you may be able to make deadline that way.Yes, you may lose money on the gig, but this should help you to know you have a group of people that you can count on if you end up with more business than you can handle in the future.

Also, I totally agree with everyone who says change your expected delivery time. If you put 3 days, I would still try to deliver the work in 24 hours. When a Fiverr seller delivers ahead of time, buyers love it and that alone may give you repeat business.

      Good luck!

how is it plagiarised? The whole article is rewritten you just use the information from the source.

This is how all articles are written that are low cost.

you think for 5 dollars someone is going to spend a lot of time on it?
        It's not feasible.

proper high quality articles cost at least 15+ each.

          From the Bing.com Dictionary:

          Definition of plagiarism (n)

          1. stealing somebody's work or idea: the process of copying another person's idea or written work and claiming it as original

Ugh, seriously? What you are recommending is blatant plagiarism. You're telling her to rewrite the sentences basically line by line! It's the very definition of plagiarism.

If this is what you are doing for your content, you need to stop. Or don't. You may not get caught, but if the write(pun!) person or company catches you stealing their work, you're going to wish you used just a tad bit more of your own brain power and wrote your own **original** work.

Also, just because someone is selling plagiarized articles for a low cost doesn't make it right. It means you're buying and posting content that breaks the law. Guess who's going to get popped for it? Not the writer. You, because you posted it to your site. The infringment becomes your responsibility.

      no sir

      no thank you

not even clicking on the link, only because, it probably take as much time to write an article as it does to spin it. Especially, when you start writing for you own website. And I'm kind of old school. when content used to be so juicy it made your mouth water.

I'm 31, I'm trying to avoid short cuts.

      But thank you for sharing

    Hello Carolynn,

First, to be good at any skill, you have to practice it continuously until you "master" it. Like others in this thread, I'm not sure if writing is your forte, at least at this point. I think you need more practice, but in a less-stressful environment. In other words, you should definitely change your gig to allow more time, and also take advantage of the "Pause Gig" button.

You likely have another skill you can utilize in a better fashion. To be really successful at Fiverr, you want to be able to utilize a skill set that doesn't take that long for you to complete the gigs, plus can lead to long-term work off of Fiverr, which can lead to more money. And/Or you could gain more money through the additional gigs directly on Fiverr, which are often over $5 ($10, $20, etc.).

That's how I think you'll do better on Fiverr. Maybe over time, your writing skill will improve to the point where you can meet that timetable in the future, but you may find another skill that's more enjoyable and profitable for you.

You mentioned it "takes you 2 hours to write" - is that for one article? And, if so, is that for a 500-word article or thereabouts? You should definitely become more proficient at writing and/or find another skill set because, honestly, that is too long- you will be hard-pressed to really make money at writing if it takes you that long, even with research.

While your situation is challenging, with a good writing skillset, it likely WAS doable, though perhaps a bit stressful. You definitely should alter the finish time for your gig, use the pause button, and really consider if you want to do writing long-term - as mentioned, you MUST BECOME MUCH MORE PROFICIENT in it if you really want to make solid to good money at it without getting stressed out over it.

Hope this helps - good luck.

    Take care,

    Joe

I know what you're talking about. I've been where you are. I now write 12,000 to 15,000 words per day. Writing high volume high-quality material is possible if you KEEP AT IT. Start where you are and keep writing every single day. Start at 2000 words per day. Then ramp up to 3000 after a week or two. Keep going up. Also, TIGHTEN UP YOUR QUALITY. Read a lot of style books. I read a lot of essays-they give me ideas on how to lay out my points in a very efficient and effective way. Be curious. Read tons of materials across different subject categories. Be an information omnivore. I love what I do because I get PAID TO EXPLORE IDEAS.

If you want to EARN MORE, you have to LEARN MORE. - B Tracy

I live by that mantra. You're having a tough time now because you haven't learned what you need to learn. Don't give up. Keep an open mind and learn something new every day and FOLLOW YOUR PASSION.

Don't write so you can make a living, LIVE TO WRITE instead. Writing, at least high quality writing, is all about passion. To me, writing is like breathing. I can't live a day without exploring new ideas and reducing them into words.

I wish you the best and KEEP AT IT. The more you push, the easier it will get.

Finally someone who's been there. And yes I'm getting there. The more I write the quicker I am becoming. I'm down to 45 minutes.

Others here apparently may have thought I was worried about the money. That is ridiculous because Who's getting paid if they don't put out quality content.

I don't understand their mindset. Do I sound old fashioned? I'm sure I do, I still kind of go around saying content is king and bars over everything lol

A lot of beating around the bush going on round here. Are there any real how to forums out there for passionate people such as yourself? Do you visit any forums, that speak more like you from an "I've been there" point of view?

I have to fall on the side of the people who are telling you to just suck it up, but for a different reason.

When you're starting a new business it's really hard to make the first few sales. You have, so congratulations, but you also have your first (of potentially many) problems, and thankfully it's a good one.

What I've found from having many businesses over the years is that the success of your business is directly correlated to how you handle problems like this, and the solution is usually doing what's right for your customers.

If you did have a stable of writers that you could trust on one of the many writing sites out there, then I would recommend using them to fill the orders, but would not recommend giving production articles to test writers on a short timeframe.

The solution for you, although it's not easy is to finish the gigs and deliver them in the timeframe that you promised. Do anything else and you're not doing right by your customers, which is the cornerstone of a service business.

You are creating a "derivative copy" and that violates copyright.

If you can't write on subjects you know or do research before writing - you shouldn't be selling articles to anyone.

I'm sick of advice given here to "copy" - "rewrite" - blah blah. THAT is NOT writing! It's copying and it doesn't matter how you rearrange the words.

Wow, I also thought about posting a writing gig on Fiverr, but kept procrasting it because I thought noone would buy it anyway, since I have no reviews, competition is high, etc... but your post here motivated me to go do it

Good luck with your articles. Guess the best way to write them fast is to just sit down and do it, and forget everything that might distract you from work. Oh and have a stopwatch, make it go for 15 minutes. Work work work than go take a 5 min break, then be back to work.

Hey have you tried Dragon Naturally Speaking?

If I was selling articles on fiver I couldn't see myself NOT using it to help things go a lot faster (I don't sell on fiver but use it for my own site). Its a great piece of software considering you can open up some books / references on what you need to write about, sit back with a mic and rephrase / remix stuff together really fast.

All I know is it cuts my article writing time down by 1/2 to 1/3, and they still come out great.

Actually this is, I think, a rather sad tale for fiverr sellers. If you live someplace with a high cost of living, you'd have to be able to fulfill several orders in an hour to be able to justify the effort with your earnings. Gigs that are time consuming will hurt your bottom line, unless you are able to find a way to either speed up the process (by using templates) or by finding people from other countries that are willing to do job for a lower rate (thus leaving you a profit per order). Also, there are some gigs that, because you've been doing it forever and you already have the necessary tools, have become a breeze to do and you consistently turn out quality work.

I do ebook cover designs on fiverr, and they are a steal at $4 (after fiverrs cut).

I've found most buyers on Fiverr to be patient. They ordered the gig because they want what you are offering. Just explain to some of them it will be an extra day because you weren't expecting the flood of orders and ask if another day will be ok with them. Change your delivery date to 3 days or more. That's it.

This thread has given me the most laughs of the day, though I doubt anyone actually meant to be funny.

Carolynn, I'm glad you got the work done in time. However, it was quite amusing to me, the hostile tone in which you took with the initial people who basically told you to just "suck it up, and get it done" Yet, that's exactly what you wound up doing. Despite wasting quite a bit of time in this thread.

The other laughs that I had is the comments from some other people. Not going to quote directly. However, all us "common folk" must look like tiny ants from way up there on your moral high horses.

Maybe I'm just cranky today, but I get so sick of the same shit being parroted in different threads over and over and over again.

Well, I wouldn't take it that far. But if you read my last couple of threads, I had to chew out one of the more popular people on the forum for trying to align me with a the word plagiarizer. When I simply asked a question. I'm pretty sure that could have been a juicy thread. Like I stated before, this thread is an exception. People who immediately give knee jerk comments on newbie threads to get the stats up , make what could be good threads die early. Being that this thread is still going is that again some sort of TOS here at WF?

I kind of developed jerk reaction to jerks that deliver jerk-isms in a jerk off kind of way. You have probably heard of them they are from Jerk City Jerksunda USA and they usually use words like, "shut up and get to work. do the damn work. You wanted it, you've got it, take action. Nothing in life comes easy, just do it."

I came on an IM forum to post an IM issue that is directly related to all the content on this forum "in action" no less. And I get this guy telling me to only do what I am already doing but, whilst I write do it buckle down and frantically, including some good ole fashion boss man slave driver talk. He kind of reminded me why embarked online in the first place. So I didn't have to hear talk like that. He sounded like Messieur Candie from Django

Bless your heart WF. Bless your little IM heart.

I've been in a situation like this before. Article writing is a hot market right now, especially on fiverr. People are looking for quality new content for dirt cheap prices. I once had to ghost write 40,000 words in a week. Did I pull it off on time? No. I was two days late. However, what I did was contact my clients and asked if I could have a two day extension. I went to the gym for an hour, then stopped at the gas station and purchased about 10 of those Starbucks iced coffee drinks, and went home. Once I had some of my favorite gossip shows on and I was in a comfortable enviorment, I quickly cranked out that book.

I thought the fiverr guys charging $5 for a 500 word article simply outsourced all the work. I mean come on, how can anyone effectively research a topic, write on said topic (500 words) make $5 (actually $4 after fiverr takes their cut)...and expect to make a decent living.

Here's my suggestions. Change the delivery time of your gigs to 1 week. Customers will not mind waiting for quality work. Pause your gig if you get too many orders or become too busy in other areas of your life to work on Fiverr. Communicate with your customers and tell them if you are going to be a little late in delivery. Most will be reasonable and not mind if you treat them with respect and apologize. And last but not least, find writing assignments on Fiverr that you can complete relatively fast. It does not make much sense to offer projects on there that require 2-3 hours.

    I dont get it.

Is it me, or are you all scared to invest, in proper software that creates proper articles and let you no the lsi percentage what written on the internet.

you must invest to make money, unless your goal for fun, but what i have read your a writer or trying to be,and you was worried about the jobs you got, and can you do them in time, i was shocked u say your a writer or want to be.

I would like to tell you, that there writers and good ones on fiverr, what ant getting no work, so you done good getting your fiverr indexed and looked at so quickly.

Did you close your fiverr account or did you let it run, if your getting a constant stream of work because of the placement of your add in fiverr or on the .net there thousands to be gained.

if your getting 7 jobs a day in 24 hours that amazing that account worth around £12.000 year, that 7 jobs a day 5 days a week £245 week ...

only five hours work a day in dollars that about $384 week(no brainier your account)

How can you not want that .

like i say there software out there £150month for writers,

the money your fiverr account getting is unreal as a new 24hr account ....

    is it true?

i want to no what happen next, was there more work coming in from fiverr?

sometimes in life you hit a gold nugget and dont realize what it worth or it was even in front of you nose in your case you sound lucky......

fiverr is completely fluctuated to get even one job like a miracle to get seven in 24 hours is godly blessed account lol
