don't pay anyone to start a site for you. with wordpress its incredibly easy. Hold onto your money, and only pay for things with a direct ROI. lots of scams, or overpriced "services" in the online marketing world.

I would take my time and find a GOOD COACH or GOOD COACHING PROGRAM that can take you through the process of setting up and building a solid IM business.

There are a lot of really good coaches and programs right here on forum - just do your due diligence and don't get sucked in by all the hype.

For what its worth there is a coach on here called Kenster who has a coaching program that is producing great results for his students.

Make sure the website has a solid sales funnel attached and a good solid foundation of content.

In order to earn money you need targeted people and you need a solution that you either sell them yourself or a recommendation to another's solution.

Decide on all that before you start building the website. Decide on 'who' you are targeting and what they will buy.

I would do a lot of researching first. Figure out what I want to do, what is my niche and my target audience. As Biotin said, you can start your own site with WP for a starter.
Find out where else you can invest your money so that you can be efficient.

Dont believe anyone who promise xxx $$$ you can make. Tell me one thing, if that was true, why are they doing it for fraction of amount and create it for you. Instead they could do 10 more for themselves.

There are some of them who do create good websites, but without knowing how to drive consistent traffic, you cannot reach anywhere. Get a good coach, pm me i can recommend someone who can really help you

sarahAttkinson hit the nail on the head, you should do alot of research first. Doing research is one of the first skills that you need to develop to get good at making money online. Also give yourself more options by getting a list of 3-5 coaching or training programs to compare and then look or ask for honest feedback on the one or two that you think would be best for you.

As long as they have at least a 30 day money back guarantee you will be able to find one that you like. Once you do it's important to stay focused on that one system and keep taking action until you start making money, before you start focusing on a different way to make money online.

Trust me, the last thing you're going to want to do is give that guy your money. Take things slow, learn from your fellow warriors. We can expose you to the basics and beyond. Spending money is something you're going to want to hold off on especially if it's 100's right from the jump.

Online marketing (and marketing in general) involves a lot of researching, testing, tracking, tweaking, and repeating (what works, that is!).

First, you must learn what you are good at: writing, creating videos, speaking, etc.
Second, learn to work with WordPress (it's one of the most popular blogging platforms online today, and it arguably gives you the most flexibility (plugins, owning your own content on your own domain, etc.)). Even if you outsource blogging and such later on, it's always good to have at least rudimentary knowledge so you can direct the people you hire later on to do it for you in the way you want it done.
Third, learn what are your strengths and weaknesses, and let that guide you.

If you're good at writing: you could create information products (.txt, .doc, .pdf), blog for others, write articles for others, perhaps copywrite (in time- that skill takes a while to develop effectively). You can do these for yourself as well.
If you're good at speaking: audio products and voiceovers could be products you could make (both to promote yourself and for others)
If you're good at creating videos: creating video products, posting videos on YouTube, creating Webinars (both to promote yourself and for others).

Fourth, you need to find a niche that you feel you either have some knowledge in and/or have an interest in.

Fifth, you will need to really learn that niche and its target market inside and out. This means identifying who has a problem in this niche, what solution he/she is looking for, and how you can provide it (whether it's through your own skills, leveraging someone else's skills - either through hiring, PLR, other resources).

Sixth, evaluate your competition in that niche to see what solutions they are providing to that target market and what they are not providing to that target market. (Hint: Use forums related to that target market - look up "keyword + forum" in search engines to find these forums), then read through the threads and posts to see what common problem continues coming up, what products/services have tried to address it, and where those products/services have succeeded and failed.

Seventh, determine how you can deliver where those other products/services have failed.

This is, essentially, how IM works and how you can be successful at it. Note that this is just a rough sketch - there are certainly more details than this, but this is the basic blueprint you need to get a solid idea of what it takes to succeed at IM. As you proceed through the above, you'll find that you need certain resources and specifics - this is where this forum and the members of this forum can help guide you when you are in need of advice and guidance on what resources you should get, where you can find them, and what to avoid (either permanently or to hold off on until later when you become more advanced).

Certainly, a good quality coach with verifiable proof that he/she is effective can certainly help you get there quicker if you focus on his/her methods and take definitive action. The above guideline, though, should give you an idea of what you should expect, and how you can determine what your strengths and weaknesses are, as well as where your interests lie.

Arguably, you should learn those first before you go for a coach - by knowing these first, they can help you pare down which coach(s) would be best for you and that can help you get the most out of your talents and your Internet marketing business as quickly as possible (though, don't expect to make thousands overnight- it does take time, work, effort, patience, and determination, but it CAN be done if you keep working at it and push through the obstacles and bumps along the way. Again, the forum and the members here can help guide you and encourage you when you need assistance and support).

I would strongly suggest that you create some sort of product or service that you can provide. Information products such as e-books, reports, audios and or videos are an excellent way to get started online.

A matter of fact, these types of products do quite well online and have made lots of people tons of money. If you really hate to write, then creating an audio or video just might be what you're searching for.

In the case of audio creation, you can use a digital voice recorder to record your product, you can even hold a teleseminar and record it and that will be a product that you can sell and so on.

If you have a video camera which most people do nowadays, then you can record a video and sell it or use the video to promote your products and so on. Most cell phones now have video cameras on them, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding a relatively good quality video camera. You don't need the most expensive thing out there to produce good quality video.

The same can be said about voice recorders too because many of the audio recorders produced today can record in either WAV, MP3 or even WMA formats.

So as you can see here my friend, there are many ways that you can use to get started in Internet marketing.a

This advice is only if you want long term business: work hard at start, and the income will come by the time you finish all the starting part.
know your strength and realize your weakness, that is how you find your niche. Or maybe find your own niche with niche finder from Brad Callen.
After you get your niche, make sure you know a lot about that, you love to write about it, you love it when people interested in it.
Next step, make a product, ebook is what works, teach people how to do something, or solve their problem.
Last step, promote it with sales funnel. But if it too much work for you, join Amazon, and ask them to sell your product.
