Buying Solo ads is the best way to advertise a newly created website. Choose a high PR website in your niche with a lot of traffic which provides ad space for rent. It will pass a lot of targeted traffic for your website.

Most of the old fashioned way are too old to use, lol. Video Email, Video Conference - meet face to face with your customers, look in to their eyes, show them you are hones. That makes a lot of sales for me...

It depends on the niche you've chosen. Quality informative and helpful articles are still a good idea.
Post to the better article directories like Ezine Articles.

And also get some helpful videos made up and post to youtube. These methods still work for traffic.

How is using solo ads good for getting traffic to a new website? Really come on this is the stuff that pisses me off. The last thing a New guy needs to is go through money at something they aren't ready for. Find targeted traffic that is going to convert with a solo ad from someone that's not whoring out their list to hell is not easy. Solo ads have become over saturated, and it's becoming less effective.

The first question that needs to be asked here is what is your niche?

Definitely social media for a new site and directory submissions to get as many white hat links back to your site, don't go overboard with black hat submissions.

Post in forums related to your niche and build up credibility and use a signature linking to your blog.

Definitley use YouTube. You can make a promo video with Animoto, and just fill out the Youtube title and description with high traffic keywords and a link back to your site so people can find your video.

You could try Pinterest depending on your niche.

Create a free report with a link to your site inside and put it on document sharing sites or offer it in forums.

I will tell you a best practice.

If you have a website and you want to take advantage of the traffic your website will attract you must have an auto-responder and collect email addresses. It will be better if you will offer a free ebook to your visitors so that you may build your email list.

You will use your subscribers as a traffic generating method at your disposal whenever you want to show them something interesting you created, a blog post, a video, etc.

Your email list must preferably be a list of buyers, but even if your email list won't be one of the best ones because you may attract freebie seekers with your free ebook, you will always have a group of subscribers to help you drive traffic to a certain page you want to promote.

So, building your email list is very important. You should have this fact in mind from the beginning.

Don't make efforts to drive traffic to your website without keeping this traffic in your email list. Make all your visitors become your subscribers.

    Hello Funtler,

In addition to several other excellent suggestions (Social media, article marketing, forum discussions), consider both guest blogging for other blogs in your niche and also creating a free report with links to your site and to your opt-in list (i.e. giving out a free gift) and placing it on document-sharing sites. This will help to create a viral effect by others passing around your free report, which will help to spread the word about your website and get more targeted traffic to it.

Hope this helps - good luck!

    Take care,

    Hey Funtler,

Forum Marketing, Video Marketing and Facebook are working well for me, which I tend to focus on mostly for Free Marketing Methods.

You want to start using all the big sites as they have people there already so use sites like Twitter, FB, Youtube etc.

The beauty of these sites is that you hook them all up, so say when you upload a video to Youtube, it'll get syndicated to FB and Twitter... And any other sites you've got it connected to.

You also want to build a following at these sites as well. So you would have fans at FB, followers at Twitter and subscribers over at Youtube.

And ALWAYS provide QUALITY content too, that way you'll build up a loyal following and people will follow you in their own personal way, whether it's through Twitter, your email list or whatever.

If you follow what I said above, and keep pumping content and let it get syndicated over the net, you'll notice you'll start to build up your passive traffic levels and you'll also be seen as an authority figure in your market.

...And people listen, respect and most importantly... Buy from authority

    Hope this helps!

Social marketing is the right strategy for a new website.. make sure you're doing the right set of on-page and off-page strategies then. Because when social media brings visitors' traffic, it's the on-page factors that gives them the first best impression to stay on page.

And both these strategies, you can do by yourself for free with the right knowledge..

For free methods, social media and youtube still works the best.

I would suggest paid traffic as they are faster and more effective. Depending on your niche, you can try solo-ads, PPC and PPV.

Create long, informational, and most importantly, helpful articles for your site. If you can pinpoint the pain area for your audience it will be tremendously beneficial for not only your readers but also your traffic. This will be the foundation for building a community around your site.

Start reading other blogs in your niche and make useful comments on articles that you can relate to. This allows you to build a rapport with the blog owner. Contact them and see about guest blogging, these are great opportunities to get new readers.

Become active on twitter, facebook, and Google+. Follow other people in your niche and share their content. Just like in the "real world" its just as much about giving as it is getting. If others see you sharing their content they will be more inclined to share yours.

There is no secret sauce to getting traffic. Its a long term game and you need to set yourself up for success from the beginning.

In order to get traffic, you need to have an asset worth visiting.

Sure you can buy traffic via ads and tweet away in hopes of getting clicks, but if you don't have "good" content, you'll have a high bounce rate.

    I apply this concept:

    1. Write content that solves a specific user's problem. In my niche, it is often a tutorial on how to solve a problem. One of my areas of expertise is in project management using Microsoft Project.

    2. Take the tutorial and develop a presentation the summarize the steps in the tutorial.

    3. Post the presentation file on scribd.com, docstoc and slideshare

    4. Narrate the video and send it out to YouTube.

    5. Identify the influencers in your market and let them know about your tutorial

This can be done with blog comments or just email them directly. More often than not, you'll get a tweet or a blog post with a link back to your site.

Don't overlook the importance of influencers in your niche. They can definitely improve your traffic faster than waiting for Google to sort the search listings with your content.

This approach can be augmented with video distribution tools and adding the Facebook, Twitter and social media. You can pay for these solutions or leverage your market influencers.

...but just make sure your site is an asset worth visiting.

yeah the free ways to promote your site would be to write a ton of relevant content all over the web, produce videos too. And yeah solo ads and PPC is the best advertising way to get quick traffic. Make sure that you track everything too.

YT if you're comfortable with video. You could also use FB. Me, personally, I quit writing on my blog, and just put content on YT. For instance, YT videos rank in Google (if you know what you're doing.) Where as a blog might not. It's what I do, and it gives me steady source of "free" traffic into my sales funnel.

    Be well,

    Lane
