Using Aweber Plain Text For Affiliate Links

Hey, I'm using plain text for aweber. My question is how do I put in a affiliate link. Lets say I'm promoting hostgator. What affiliate link would I put in? Some affiliate links are ugly

Thanks

Have you thought about purchasing a domain name to redirect your affiliate link to? For instance.... myhostingcompany....com or something like that. This way, it will seem more of a real link and people may be more intrigued to click it.

Purchasing a domain name would probably be the best thing to do. Mostly because of spam filters and it will lessen the chance of your message sending the wrong idea to your recipients and triggering spam filters.

Good idea but if I'm promoting a lot of affilate links should I use the same domain to redirect to all the different affilate links?

That would be a whole lot better than using the long ugly names.

You could even set up sub domain redirects like.....

    hostgator.xxxxxxxx.com

redirect this subdomain to your offer and promote that link.

Do this for each offer if you wish.

Get a script to do it on your own domain.

    Google: "redirection script"

You can cloak the affiliate links by using a tool named 'My Link Guard' by Richard Legg. Your domain name will permanently replace the affiliate link forever on the address bar once it gets clicks. I used it before and the conversion is higher than using any free shorten-url services. Hope this helps

This type of practice can confuse people since they are seeing your url but viewing someone else's websites. Some affiliate programs don't actually allow cloaking for this very reason.

I would suggest you just use simple redirects.

      yourwebsite.com/product1
      yourwebsite.com/product2

It literally takes two minutes to set up a redirect in that way so even with a plugin you won't save a heap of time. Just do it the old school way.

I didn't mention a plugin. I said to do it without a plugin. People rely on plugins for too many things nowadays. Simple redirects shouldn't need to be done inside of Wordpress. They take all of 1 minute to setup manually.
