This Guy Wants To Sell Me His 1329 Opt In List For Just $75? What gives?

Even if the list is real, you have to wonder how many other people he's trying to sell it to.

Not sure the legalities of this but how do you expect to use this list? Are you in the same niche as him? I'm fairly positive that those on the list will realize the "switch" of users and will start to drop off. That and you have no idea how the list was created nor if he's sending this list off to a multitude a people. Hell he may even be re-selling a list someone else had. Personally I wouldn't buy into it nor entertain his offers.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if his list was transferred to you, then to comply with anti-spam laws your new list MUST re-confirm their subscription, in which case you would stand to lose around 2/3 of your list.

I would have just hit the block and delete button after saying no but thanks anyway lol. Someone with a responsive or/and buyers list will never sell you their list. It's a goldmine so why would anyone?

Stay clear from buying any lists

Yeah, I would certainly skip this one. Like other people pointed out it's much better to build and take good care of your own list. All sorts of headaches can come from buying someone else's list. I wouldn't do it.

I actually "bought" (for a few bucks so no problems without losing a few bucks here) one smaller list from him and when he started a few weeks later up till now talking about a "better" and "bigger" list, my knowledge about Commitment & Consistency popped up in my mind and I thought, "Hey, wait a minute, that's a principle of influence, cool!"

I started to get skeptical here, particularly when he was really wanting to sell it "just to me" and how he had refused others to buy it because he claimed, "they would only spam the lists with crap, but you seem to want to provide value".

I do not know this, but I guess he would say the very same thing to everyone else he maybe tried to sell it to as well! ;-)

Furthermore, when I created this post, he saw it (he is apparently active here, probably looking for more people, I will not expose him though, I think people will be able to spot the fake from a mile away).

When he saw this thread he said "I had hurt him and he thought that we were friends" and I immediately saw the emotional games some girls run on their wussy boyfriends and it was too laughable to me.

Then I dropped the bomb and he went offline, "If you are TRULY not in it for the money, then you would give me the list for free, it's as simple as that. Don't waste your time playing emotional games with me, because it is obvious it is ridiculous "

I guess, we all learn something new every day and this was a good experience for me to have gone through! :-)

P.S. I agree that one should build one's own list instead of buying because then the subscribers have osme sense of what is happening when an e-mail pops up in their inboxes.

At the end of the day, I never purchased from him. I think it is better if I build my list as I will know what kind of people I gather (right niche-targeted people) so my follow-ups with them are congruent and makes sense to them as well.

It was a fun experience though!

And to add the sweet ice cream one the cake; he said, "Buy this and I will also give you 10,000,000 mails too that friends of mine got for me!"

Now that is not really being able to understand the concept of "value" and "price" haha! ^^,
