Im just wondering if the niche marketing professionals out there could give me some advice!
I've just read up on some fantastic 'Niche' related ebooks etc.. and I believe i've found a rather profitable niche.
Im just wondering, the competition is fairly low (Below 200,000) but the top 2 results are Amazon, yes it will be a product im promoting, well a range so to speak and im just wondering if you think i should go for it and exploit it?

The 2 websites of competition beneath that seem to be pretty legitimate companies but only with a slightly number of backlinks, basically he's bought lots of domains and linked to them as i've found out. PR2 aswell.

Whats you guys say?

Go for it. Even if you cant beat amazon you can still beat the other guys and be in third position.

You'll still get decent traffic. Most people will click and visit the first few sites anyway not just the first.

True that. Don't be intimidated by Amazon. The advantage an individual has is that they can devote individual attention to optimizing the page for a particular product. Whereas Amazon can't possibly give each of their gazillions of product pages their own optimizations.

A couple of links is usually what you need to beat an amazons niche product. That's specially true if the product is not much popular inside Amazon(not bestseller list, no amazon personal lists).

Now there's a question. But here is THE answer:

    1) Can you beat amazon's position on Google? Yea - that is REALLY simple. A lot simpler than you think.

    2) Can you outsell them - now this is the real question. So what if you sit at the #1 position on Google and get decent traffic if you can't sell. This will depend solely on your sales letter.

So the BIG answer is - it depends on your sales letter.

Of course you can beat Amazon.
Amazon aren't doing backlinking, seo, social
    bookmarking, etc.

You can. You should. Go For It!

Yes, you can - but even if you can't, third place isn't a bad consolation at all

You should be able to beat Amazon, but if you can't, you still have a chance to be 3rd, which is still quite good.

    So go for it m8!
