Average price for a decent non-ecommerce site?

Wondering from all of you selling regular websites what the going rate is for a decent site? I have received quotes from $300 to $2000 and everything in between.

I sell mobile marketing services and mobile websites, yet I feel as though the prices I am being quoted are ridiculously overpriced!

Thoughts?

It really does depend on the site and what the client wants. I usually try to quote on a per hour basis and sometimes it get pretty inexpensive for small one.

The person I hired had built it in Adobe Muse, and I can't fix the issues with it and it seems like no one else uses this web design software. Even my top navigation links aren't working!

Not only was this question posed for my own website needs, but I have clients asking if I can build them a regular website along with the mobile one I am selling them. I thought I had found the 'partner' (the one built my site), but was sadly mistaken!

the $300 was the bottom, which scared me that it was just that. But it turned out the $1200 bill I received is not so hot either!

It depends on what sort of site you want.

    1. A sexy looking brochure type website costs around £300 and this is from an award winning designer

    2. A content site - which by the same guy starts at £1500.

So... it depends what you want. Sounds like a content site though so expect the higher cost.

You didn't tell us what you needed the site to have? Are you filling out all the content on the website? Do you just need a basic design that you can build from?

Or do you need the entire website built from design to content? If so those higher end prices make more sense, but remember, you can always outsource your work to third world nations for far less than what you would get charged here...
