Will you be missed? (My 1000th post)
In true warrior tradition, I want to make a post as I fly past the 1000 post mark. The funny thing is it's been a while since I've been here and the first thing I see is a banner saying you can get over a million visits for just 2 hours work  Anyway...
I wanted to share a post made by a great marketer called Ryan Lee who I follow quite a lot, and it relates to the true value you are adding to people's lives and the Internet as a whole. Day after day there are posts on Warrior about how people are struggling to make any money, the answer could lay in this post...
You should hopefully know that if you are providing value, solutions, entertainment or whatever to people, then they will gladly pay you for it. Now, there's nothing wrong with affiliate marketing, or peddling CPA offers, but think about it, if you suddenly stopped what you are doing tomorrow, would anybody really miss you now that you are gone??? Are you REALLY adding value to people's lives?
Google did a big cull of people's sites and accounts, and everybody got really p1ssed off about it (including me), but Google said that for the main part, many affiliate based sites are just a further step people have to make to get to what they really want.
Again, if you are actually properly reviewing products by buying and using them, so you can help people, then that's fine, but most don't, they just try and promote a product with the highest commission or whatever to make a few quid.
Ok, so say on the flip side you were creating your own product, or publication that was so great, you gathered a following of REAL fans that couldn't wait for your next issue? If you suddenly dropped dead or something, can you see how you will then be missed, rather than somebody just doing CPA offers.
I remember there has a printed fanzine I used to get years ago (on a very nerdy subject lol), I used to love it and happily paid good money for it because there was nobody else serving that niche market at the time. Then in the end, the guy found it too much work and stopped doing it....and I was gutted. You can bet I missed him.
These days, there are just soooooooooooooooooooo many people throwing up any old site to try and ...ahem....make money online. In the WSO section, there can now be 8 thousand people browsing at one time...
John Reese said something that stuck in my head, and that was "leave the internet in a better way then you found it".
Here is the full article written by Ryan, it's worth a read. He also mentions Seth Godin who also shares the same view as what I have outlined in this post. Some will disagree with me, and that's fine, it really doesn't bother me, but feel free to air your opinions. I've been doing this nearly 7 years now so I think I can say that I've seen a few things and have a decent hand;e on what works and what doesn't.
