All of my websites are blank white screens

Hello all,

I just discovered that all of my websites are blank white screens - nothing loads at all.

It must be a problem with my hosting, as all of my websites are hosted on bluehost.

Does any one have an idea about what i could be? doesn't look like bluehost is down right now.

Thanks,

Peter

Have you spoken to Bluehost to find out the potential problem they might be facing?

You have to ask Bluehost. They could probably fix it in five minutes...

The fact that you're not getting errors would possibly point to the fact that the file security settings have somehow changed.

Check your website using private browser window. If you still getting a blank page contact the bluehost.

Bluehost support should be your first resource to fix the problem.

It's called web-minimalism, Peter - it's all the rage. No clutter on any websites, and nothing for anyone to complain about. Bluehost is gradually introducing their customers to the concept. And as part of a reciprocal arrangement, Whitehost is now doing the same with blank blue screens.

I hope you resolve the problem quickly and easily, but Bluehost support - rather than here - is really the place to ask for help.

Probably very wise, really: when someone is in a panic with a technical problem, it isn't the most tactful timing to be making facetious comments, really. I can resist everything but temptation.

I say well done Alexa The OP's first step shouldn't be posting a thread here but contacting BH support...

I like to laugh sometimes when I think of all the people I contacted during a panic over a technical issue only to find out it wasn't their fault. Not even my fault just something changed like facebook for example when they just cut someone off for no reason but you don't know why they never respond anymore to anything you say.

Sometimes you can't even figure out what happened, nobody can.

Try renaming your plugins folder to plugins-old and see if it fixes it.

Try doing the same step above for the theme you're using to force a revert to the default theme.

Try renaming your htaccess file to htaccess.OLD to see if it resolves it.

Most likely, one of the steps above will correct the issue.

Before you determine what the real problem is, try to break your site to see if it makes a difference for you.

p.s. If all of his sites went down at once, then there is more than a single domain htaccess issue, and if he is running WordPress, blanking the htaccess will break the entire site.

99.9% of the time, this is the EXACT cause of "white screens". 1 htaccess file on a shared account can & will break every Wordpress installation.

Running the same plugin across multiple sites and that plugin gets an update or something server side changes and jacks that plugin up, it will break each site it's installed. Solution, reload the plugin. The same thing goes for themes.

EDIT: Also, those are steps to determine what the problem is. Unless it's determined that it's a server side problem, these are the exact steps a hosting provider will either take, or tell you to take.

Bluehost were having problems today. All my sites went offline for about 2 hours around lunchtime GMT. Should be back now. Mine are.
