Is WSO Killing Clickbank ?

For the last year or so, I have noticed that less products being launched on Clickbank whilst there are increasingly more WSOs.

Is WSO Killing Clickbank ?

Why did Clickbank lost it's grip on the market ? Jvzoo and Warriorplus got anything to do with clickbank downfall ?

Clickbank traffic is definitely going down = less Marketers and Affiliates using Clickbank :

    I think there is a need and demand for both WSO's and Clickbank.

    Clickbank sells in many niches, so there will always be a need for that service.

    Ehh I'm not sure that's accurate. Where'd you get that impression? Clickbank seems to be doing just fine. In fact, they're growing. While JVZoo and Warrior + and Clicksure are Clickbank's competitors, I don't see Clickbank losing much of the market share. Not at this time, anyway.

    Furthermore, WSO is not a payment processor or marketplace like JVZoo, Clickbank, or Warrior +. It's merely a distribution channel for marketing products that are supposed to be sold at a discount. Products on WSO are also hosted by places like JVZoo W+, and CLickbank.

    There's some truth in the fact that ClickBank has become a little stricter in its acceptance criteria for IM/MMO products. And there may be some vendors who are finding that ClickBank won't accept their fraudulently worded sales pages, now, quite like they used to.

    But that's just 1 or 2 niches. There are about 298 other niches represented on ClickBank, as well. Or did you forget about those?

      Yeah they did. With FTA rulings about advertising, disclosure, and being able to prove average results, the whole niche is just dangerous for them to mess with, as they can be held liable if they are supporting products found fraudulent. There's just some niches that are more of a risk than others - and MMO is at the top of that list.

      Yup, most if the hypey products are out, however that makes Clickbank a better place not the opposite.

    I don't think clickbank is going down, but for me with all the reviews sometimes it's easier to decide if I buy a quality product or not. On Clickbank as acustomer you often see only the salespage...

    clickbank, like aweber and many others didn't lose their grip on the IM market...they willingly gave it up.

    They made decisions with the specific intent of loosing market share in the IM niche. And by my estimation...wisely so.

    They decided they didn't want a particular sub set of clients anymore. Those clients were bringing more problems than the revenue they brought was worth on several fronts.

    So they made decisions to make themselves less attractive to those markets.

    I use to sell products on clickbank, but I do not like the money back guarantee because I feel people cheat the heck out of my service by taking advantage of getting the book and being able to cancel anyway. Warrior forum is not that way nor selling my books on my personal website. I know it may sound wrong not having a money back guarantee, but only allow it if it involves me performing a service.

    This make sense. But Internet Marketing would have been a big share of clickbank. Even those Health related product would still be based on the usual internet marketing principles we use - sales funnel , optin +/- OTO. But i would imagine that there would be much more refunds with those "Get-rich-quick scheme" IM products compared to "health" related products.

    Does clickbank loses a fee with credit card processing each time a customer ask for a refund ?

      Yes; it does. Refunds cost them money, in administrative and transaction costs (as well as generally being bad for their image, when people post in forums complaining about how many refunds there are through ClickBank!).

        This is not entirely true. It depends on what you negotiate with your payment processing companies. I'm sure Clickbank negotiated down their refund fees to zero (or almost).

        Actually, refunds are not a problem for processing companies. The BIG problems come from disputes, chargebacks, etc. Refunds are not a problem as long as they don't go ballistic (which many IM products did: 25%+ refunds were not unheard of).

    its was more about the ftc than any other single thing. Pressure from PP also played a big role in CB decisions.

    Basically once a company gets as big as CB was, they become a pretty easy target for overzealous groups at the ftc. Dont get me wrong, CB definitely needed to make some changes, but it was not totally done voluntarily. The ftc was pushing them hard to "change or else"

    as for aweber. I really noticed them begin to change their behavior towards IM guys just at the same time I noticed that google was flagging websites with aweber code. Yep, thats a part of seo now guys...lol.

    Basically, google did what they do with huge amounts of data. They noticed a striking similarity in that a high percentage of those who were "gaming" their algorithm just happened to have aweber code on their site. can anyone guess their next move?...lol

    Actually, if you had look at the Alexa screenshot i posted, you would have seen that for a FACT that Clickbank traffic is steadily coming down and I was wondering what was the reason for this. Alexa and David have actually shed light on this and I actually learnt from them.

    I don't think anything is killing anything. Clickbank is still thriving because it has thousands of affiliates driving sales to its products. WSOs and JVZoo are rising but it will not affect Clickbank in anyway, if anything, Clickbank will rise more in sales and lots of products will get listen in CB soon.

    There's more to this than meets the eye.

    No the two can exist and both be useful. If you're just in the MMO / IM niche then you might think so, but everyone else will still use clickbank and others...

    I think Clickbank is killing Clickbank... I tried to use it once around 18 months ago but I never even received my check since I live in Sweden. And for every time I asked them to send it again they withdraw $50 ( I believe) from the check until I just sold the account for 50% of what I had in account balance.

    There are a lot of products/service which can only be promoted in clickbank. So, of course clickbank products are also increasing. But online marketing beneficial offers are increasing mostly in WSO - no doubt.

    If WSO are killing clickbank one factor could be the prices points. WSO's tend to be a lot cheaper then clickbank products and so its a newbie's candy store basically.

    Why wait a month or two for an affiliate check from Clickbank, if you can promote products through instant paypal affiliate programs or offer systems like WSOs, Rapbank, JVzoo, and the like?

    A lot of marketers who prefer upfront pay are becoming attracted to the latter, and this is a competitive edge Clickbank didn't have to worry about years ago. Couple this with some of the dubious policy changes Clickbank introduced to mixed reviews, and there you have the answer to the question, of what is hurting Clickbank.
