What is it that people struggle with the MOST

I just wanted to ask what it was the people were now finding the most difficult thing to do when it comes to internet marketing.

The hope is that with some things identified in this thread, answers can be posted by fellow warriors with quantified experience can shed light on for those facing difficulty.

People may ask why I am posting this, and my answer is simply from a conversation I had with someone who I am helping with their online business, their issue was chasing shiny objects that promised fortune and fame.

Get posting fellow warriors. Lets turn the heat up in here tonight!

The biggest problem people have is getting away from the idea that internet marketing is easy. Why do so many people fail? Because they have this idea engrained in their minds and everything they do for their website comes with a want to make it easy. SEO isn't hard if you put in the hours to learn and think about what you're doing. It seems that most people getting into internet marketing lose the ability to think for themselves, they need the latest and greatest WSO to TELL them what to do.

Once you've got a system that works, albeit with a lot of hard work, THAT is when you're allowed to start making things more efficient and easier.

Good question. I am experienced and I train marketers so I will speak from their experience perspective.

Most people can't stick to one thing. They jump from one to another. Thinking that IM is easy and that money will flow.

IM is easy if you are consistent and follow though with a system they pick up.

So I find that most people can't stick to one thing. Therefore they fail.

I was going to say the 2 things you need to succeed in IM:

        1. Traffic
        2. A sales page that converts.

After a year and 2 months of steady traffic and no conversions, I have to ask, are you in a market that sells. Is it a product people are willing to pay for.

I had an ebook in a huge market, that generated billions of dollars per year but the web-site was a total flop.
It did great on eBay, however, and is now doing well on Kindle.
The reason was, the traffic I was getting on the website weren't buyers.
They were looking for free info on a whim.
The traffic on eBay and Kindle are buyers.

Well thats my main worry, i started the site when i did not know as much about IM as i do now and so i started a great idea but it doesnt attract buyer traffic. Although what im hoping to do is build it a large enough brand so that i can branch off and funnel traffic to a sales page in that niche. I am trying to build a list also.

      I agree with you.

The one thing that most people struggle with is just sticking with one method and making it work. Most new marketers out there either move from one method to another just because they can't see the money yet. Otherwise they just give up completely.

Find a good IM mentor and just do what he says till you make it. That's the best way to succeed in IM

        Yes. This.

I'm not one of those people that won't put any effort into things. I put massive effort and time and action into them. Which is why when the ones that don't work out and leave me having to start all over from scratch or an entirely new direction, cause me to get very discouraged.

Since you're working for yourself and have that self discipline, self accountability issue, getting discouraged is so dangerous. Many times after working night and day on a project that fails or leaves me disappointed, I'd get so discouraged and depressed from it that I'd lose all my motivation and focus, feeling lost on what to even focus on next. Sometimes it'd take me an entire wasted month of not working or being totally unfocused before I'd get my motivation and energy back enough to give something another go again.

I think the greatest problem people have overall is FOCUS! Even after learning so much about IM and so many aspects of it, if you can't organize all of that knowledge into concert action steps to take next each hour and each day, then you end up constantly feeling lost and not knowing what to do. You have all of this information and it feels so random, like you still don't know what to do? Cause the knowledge is useless if you don't know the exact ORDER to put it in. And then people have to adapt it all to their own limitations (lack of budget, lack of skills, lack of contacts, lack of time, lack of technology or other resources etc).

You can't just keep buying the shiny objects and end up with hundreds of books and courses in your computer. Nothing wrong with purchasing these things if they truly get you where you need to be. Then after all is read and listened to, it goes back to the hard drive. You have to take action on what you learned. You won't get anywhere by just sitting in the same place. It does take work, but you have to act on it.

Lately I have been finding it more and more difficult to earn trust online. Clients come to me and they've been burned so many times by IM companies I can smell the gasoline through their frustrated emails.

It's sad, and it makes earning their trust an uphill battle.

I think the most difficult thing is to find out the method that particularly works for your own self. Tons of ebooks, courses, etc out there have pretty much the same range of information but you have to personalize and make them work for you.
Then it is also good to make a detailed plan of certain things to do (both in short-term and long term).
When I first started I also chased the dream of doing product launch, affiliate sales and such things to make money over night. But then I learnt that you need to build a solid base with a good reputation and a personal brand. Then money just comes to you. You don't have to chase after money anymore.
ANd yeah as others have said, you need to clarify this is real hard work. It ain't easy at all!

In my opinion i think that patience is a big issue it was for me and i have had to learn the virtues of patience. doing things and expecting INSTANT results, thankfully i am not like that anymore and when i get instant results i evaluate what i did to try an ascertain why it worked quickly.

One of the most common problems that I see that people have is getting highly targeted traffic to their sites. Traffic seams to be one of the hottest issues online these days especially when Google keeps changing their algorithms which then affect the way that marketing is done as a whole.

However, there are many effective proven ways that people can get traffic to their sites and to their offers such as commenging on blogs, visiting the forums, writing and giving away free e-books and reports, joining giveaway events and more.

I think another issue is that some people get into the rut of chronic education. It is either a function of expecting to go through a 4-year-university education experience before getting out "into the workforce", a function of the environment changing so quickly that you NEED to continually update your education to stay current (and then you don't take action) or a function of fear and getting an education to cover up that fear.

Either way - one of those is the reason that these $7.00 product are selling like hotcakes!

Majority of the posts above have talked about things after you've started an online endeavor. I read this morning in a thread that "internet marketing" is not a business but it is a "means of marketing your product/service" or "current business"...Its the lack of education to begin with which is a problem whereby a newcomer who ends up failing doesn't realise he/she needs a real business model and a real business that he/she should be setting up instead of affiliate sites. Once he/she has a business model which he/she has created himself/herself then and only then can they be successful online...and not dabble and game algorithms.

I would like the experienced business owners who operate their business online besides e-commerce stores, and selling internet marketing services...what else is a viable business model that newbies can after choose to use and be successful?

Self discipline is the hardest thing for internet entrepreneurs at all levels. Being your own boss is absolutely amazing, but it comes with just as many challenges.

    Discipline is essential!

THe biggest problem I think most people don't realize about IM is that it requres money, effort and dedication.... you have to stay consistent, devoted and keep trying even after many attempts, losses and failures. IM is not easy, it has to be something you are truly passionate and knowledgeable about

As most of you guys said , people tend to buy shiny products , they don't apply what they learn , and then they blame the product that they don't make money.

Not being consistent with the online business is also another reason , people are excited at start but then they tend to get bored.

People get into IM to make money. When the money doesn't come in, they get desperate and try all kinds of cockamamey things. Because it seems like it should be much easier than it is.

Personally though, I have problems with networking and not wanting to be that creepy marketer that no one likes.

People struggle with the idea that IM is easy, a get rich quick scheme, a ticket to fortunes. Successful entrepreneurs have to work long hours, set realistic goals, and be prepared to deal with hard times (financial or otherwise). You have to work a long time for free before you start making money. What crazy person wants to do that? Successful IMs. That is who.

Getting started is where people struggle. They keep jumping from one idea to another without doing much. A definite plan of action is a must to succeed but it must not be rigid. Plans should change and evolve according to what works and what doesn't for each person.

I think the overall execution of someone's idea that they have in their head is the hardest. You come up with a great idea and it is playing out perfectly in your head, but if you can't execute it in the real world, you will fail.
