Do you do marketing like this..?

I just watched a tv ad and i laughed.

I dont know why i find all this so funny.

Maybe because we're in this industry so we look out for all this..
I dotn know, is it considered work hazard or something..

Anyways, it was a table promotion.
And they were bashing the "other" brands of tables.

They did a comparison.
They had 2 cups filled with liquid to the brim.

And he started shaking both.
And he said "oh oh, wow, see the difference"
The "other" brand was spilling more.

BUT OF COS i said to myself. !

From the start i wasnt looking at the cup, i was looking at both hands.
The hand that was on the "other" brand was shaking more violently !
And the hand that was on the other table was so gentle and whats more, half way tru, he totally stopped shaking that table. [though i would give him the benefit of doubt that its not intentional, its more of a motor skill]

So, how many of us bash other people's product that its a one click, get rich, easy to use, dummy proof, my 2 years old could do it, or my granny could do it. etc etc.
But end of the day, they are the ones who do it too.

Building trust and selling your product on good merits going to make you a winner long-term. bashing others may win you a customer short-term but won't be a loyal customers.

I've seen some SEO services that do similar comparisons. Stack the odds to their favor by focusing on one sub-point or sub-issue. Cheesy yet it impresses people who don't look too closely.

That's funny; I constantly see commercials like that where I love. It's rather interesting how they divert your attention like that.

  • It's the skill required to do a comparison but not to critize the other brand. Thats when the you get customers they will loyal.

Im alright with comparisons. Or a little bashing IF and ONLY IF it is genuine and fair.

WHen u do a comparison, it must be FAIR, and it is TRUE.

      1. Fair is when you shake both tables equally. When only the difference in brand is the variable and everything else is constant.

      2. And TRUTH if your table is really better in terms of stability [the point that u are trying to prove] and not because of something else. like camera trick or whatever.

This kind of ad is aggressive and it is not appreciated by the public.

It’s not a good tactic to publicly attack your competitors, and the public doesn’t believe that these tests are real.

Those who use this type of advertisement are trying to cause conditioning with the impression that the product A is worse than product B.

Good ads make the public love a product because these ads touch their emotions.
