Advice/Opinions on creating an E-magaine?

I know its not a new concept, but im curious if choosing an industry niche, and creating a free monthly subscription E-Magazine is a good idea or not.

My thought process I guess is that, who wouldn't want to sign up for a free Emag that they would receive every month and could view from their computer, tablet, or phone.
Some of the software ive been looking at allows you to imbed affiliate links right into the pages. Plus, if you build a big enough list of subscribers, advertisers may want to pay to have their ads in them, just like you see with physical magazines.

Is it something worth venturing into, or a waste of time? Also, what software would you most reccomend for doing so........ I have looked at ZMAG and 3dissue mostly??

Is there a better way to describe my question so as to get some feedback?

You need to see if there is a need for that in the market or niche. If everyone can get their info from blogs for free, then they probably wouldn't pay for the info.

But it's all speculation without researching first. You could ask (survey, poll...) the people in the niche to see if there is a need.

      Thanks for the reply Matt,

Im actually wanting to follow the same idea of creating a free blog on a niche, But doing so in the form of a FREE auto-delivered monthly Emagazine.

Same as a physical magazine, however with the benefits of being able to imbed affiliate links, etc that come with a virtual publication! Thus being able to offer a free subscription, building a list faster, and eventually advertisers wanting to pay to have their ads in the Emag!
