What Real People Say and Think About Facebook

I love hearing from marketing "experts' talk about social media and sell information products (tongue implanted firmly in cheek), but I really like to see and hear what real people think.

The article here is interesting, but the comments section is more revealing:

Facebook Fatigue Among Teens Should Freak Out Marketers - Businessweek

It is worth your time to read.

I'm not concerned about the article. "Least Important vs Most Important" - I'm not even sure what means. Relative to other social media platforms or relative to another product?

Can I speak as a youth?

OK I guess i'm an adult, but i'm still in college, and not a teen, but close enough.

Facebook is dying a little in popularity, after awhile you realize that there really isn't that much to do.

But it's on every phone, a lot of times if you go to a party and meet a cute girl, you can later find her on facebook and set things up.

I know it sounds weird, but really, it's how things go socially with us kids these days..

Facebook isn't going anywhere with the way phones are these days, there isn't a competitor. Well not one that I know of anyway, I used it today even.

I wouldn't worry about it going anywhere within the next few years.

Exactly! My younger brother, 9th grade in school , just finished his final exams .... and he told me an interesting story.. two stories...real stories by real people...

      As he told me:
      1. When my last paper was finished, a guy who used to sit next to me (not from same school, not from same town...), asked and said hey... whats your fb id, so we can be in touch and be friends... he gave the fb id and now there are in network of each other as otherwise they may would have never met again due to big city population we live in..

      2. Same day, diffirent place.. two moms talking, hey it was nice to time we spent together during the kids exams (Moms used to come to pick and drop the kids)... when saying good bye ... one Mom asked other... hey please come to our house someday..it will be great... and next thing kid said, no worries we will be in touch aunt.. and asked her son, hey whats your facebook id... Mom said...no , no fb allowed for kids in our house, rule by his papa.. by the way whats your SKYPE? and then they exchanged the skype IDs...

And my younger bro told me these stories and we talked how phone numbers and house addresses are being replaced with Facebook id and Skype ids...

Social media and social networks are here to stay... name may change, networks may recreate themeselves to meet new demands.. but as I see facebook is not dying

One word about FB: dangerous! :-) This has actually been proved many times now.
I do not trust it for business either.

How is FB dangerous? I'm just curious. I knew that Craigslist was dangerous, but I've never heard of Facebook being dangerous before.

Facebook seems to be dangerous for teens, according to what many parents believe.

I do agree that Facebook is still the preferred way to connect with one another and it works. Companies alike used it as a platform to reach out to their customers.

But if you are asking whether is Facebook a good platform to promote products esp affiliates ones, i will tell you that it's harder nowadays. Like google, there are more rules to restrict the way you can promote products.
