Web Design Business + Adwords = Conversion?

Hey,

I'm interested if anyone knows approximate numbers of conversion rate for web design companies using Adwords.

For example with keywords like these: web design services, web design company, web design studio, web design firm, professional web design, etc... maybe more targeted keywords like web design for small companies, web design for dentists, etc.

Our site looks pretty good, modern and clean, truly a masterpiece. (made by my partner, not me ) So conversion should be average/good. But I still don't know what counts good conversion for a web design business.

Thanks!

It depends what you consider a conversion. A sale? Probably pretty low. An opt-in for a discount/freebie/something creative. Probably a lot higher. Build rapport then make the sale.

Hmm I don't know... first of all I would never offer freebies when my services costs $600-2000, what would I do with freebie seekers?

Secondly, if someone is looking for this kind of service, why would it be "pretty low"?

I'm not necessarily talking "freebie seekers." And I'm not saying to give anything away for free. I'm saying, people probably do not know you when they come to your site from and Adwords ad. Maybe your site will do a wonderful job at describing your abilities. Maybe not. More than likely people aren't going to click on an Adwords ad and drop $600+.

You could even do like a free appraisal optin - where they put in what they're looking for (3 page site, 3 graphics, and a contact us page). They add their email, and you respond with a price.

But, if you can capture their email (get leads) and build up rapport, show them why you're an awesome web designer and how you can help their business, then I believe you'll convert better.

I'm just saying - sales pages - with "cold" traffic...aka...from Adwords...usually convert lower... especially with an expensive price tag.

But, you can do whatever the heck you want...it's just my opinion.

Oh I see. Yes, this is what we exactly do! Sorry I misunderstood you! We offer free price quotes so we get the potential customer e-mails and then we make an offer.

There's no set standard for conversions. It's not as simple as:

x number of clicks = x number of conversions.

The keywords you've posted are certain to get clicked. But just because they do doesn't guarantee anything. It's going to depend entirely on what the visitor sees when they arrive at your site. If you make a compelling case that you're the designer they're after you'll get customers/conversions. If you don't, they'll click away. Marketing 101.

Anybody who knows will not tell you. Think about it. Web design is extremely cut throat. Buy a voucher off Fiverr and give it a go, or put some of your own cash on the line.

I got funds for this project, but I would like to calculate and to be honest I was hoping ill also get some tips here.

p.s.: I would tell this information to anyone if I don't do this kind of business anymore. But don't get me wrong, I see your point and I agree with it.

p.p.s.: I think adwords vouchers doesn't work without funding your account, but it doesn't really matter, a voucher wouldn't be enough to test how its going, kw's are expensive.

Yeah I agree with the guys that already posted above. Too many variables
Niche, Product,Price..etc. For your freebie seekers you could offer tips or a newsletter (overview of your service). I sell services from $50 -$10,000 on webpages and lead generation. We have done free trials for the freebie prospects and that has turned into money & profit down the road.
If you would like to discuss more......feel free to PM me. Hope this helps.
