PR doesn't really matter at all unless you are selling backlinks to people who still think it does matter. So many things about SEO and backlinking are outdated but people are still stuck in time it seems.

I am confused as to if PR really matters...when I check sites to be sold at flippa, the ones with PR 4 and above sell well, whereas the sites with no PR hardly sell. So whats the deal with PR?

PR doesn't matter, but some people still think it does, including many who buy on Flippa. So if your goal with this domain is to set up a website on it and flip it, I would say a PR9 .us is good for that. But the domain should make sense. Nonsense sounding domains .com or otherwise aren't great, even on Flippa.....hmmm....a PR9 though...nonsense or not might sell for a good sum on Flippa. Not really sure, but yeah, better check the validity of that PR9. People do check.

If you are only using it to make money with then a .us has no bearing good or bad. The only time it is benificial to get a .com is when it's your biz and you want to show professionalism

I'd highly doubt it's a real PR9. Those make up about .00001% of the internet.

What's the DA/PA of the site?

It's not a real pr9, I doubt it's even PR1. There's about 150 PR9 websites in the world and you're not buying one of them without some serious money. By serious, I mean serious.

Try to purchase domain names that end with either a .com, .net, or a .org extension because they are the most trustworthy in the eyes of both Google and visitors.

In my view - If it really is a PR9 then it will be a good buy - Generally the .com domains are better because they are more trusted and seen as an authority site by the general public - in addition to this and following all the Panda and Penguin changes Google also appear to prefer .com domain.

If you do decide to make any domain purchase with a high PR always do your due diligence and get proper verification.

IMO I would buy a PR9 .us domain name to setup a directory of some type for a link building service you can provide to consumers. However, make sure your buying a legitimate PR9, like many have already stated, a PR9 is extremely rare.

    Thanks for the answers,
I did check the PR of the site at a website appraisal site and even on Flippa,it does show PR 9.

Is there any other palce I can authenticate if its really PR 9?
The name of the website is also very catchy,it has the exact 2 word keyword in it.
Even I think PR 9 is very rare,so I just want to be sure.Any website which will tell me the real PR of this site?

Does it have similar backlink profile with google, twitter, facebook? If no then it's forged.

I thought that the higher the PR the bigger the business, if your thinking of buying a PR9 domain then you must have some good money or the PR results you have been shown are fake.

PR 9? That would mean it's on the same level as Facebook, Yahoo, YouTube and Google. I doubt if you could get a legitimate PR 9 site for less than 7 figures.

It's highly likely that the PR is fake. It's pretty common for sellers to sell fake PR domains and one that is a legit PR 9 is pretty rare on the market. In addition, I hate .us names. Don't want them and as you can see by the availability of a lot of popular keywords in .us domains, a lot of other people feel the same.

This is getting confusing but good learning.

I checked for the ino:domainname.com at google. The name does not show any search result, but it does say to go to the website if it's valid. I did check that and the website has a lot of content posted every day since the last two months. In fact there was a post for today too!

The other page rank checkers all say it is PR9 (which is possible may be fake),but how come there are posts on site with a domain name for auction? Does the owner does not even know that the domain name of his/her site is being auctioned?

I sure feel like Sherelock Holmes now, trying to get to the root of this mystery.

Well, pagerank is faked by making a redirect to a PR 9 site and then removing that redirect just before selling it. You can often see the redirected site in the cache if it hasn't been too long.

You can also check the wayback machine to see if there are any screencaps of PR 9 sites that it was redirected to.

        Type in Google: site:domain.com

Then click on the cached copy and see if it's the site it's supposed to be

Then go to archive.org and type in the domain name in the wayback machine. Start clicking on the previous screenshots to see if it's the site that it's supposed to be.

Ok, So when I type site:domainname.com , nothing comes up.So I think the site is not indexed. At archive.org the way back machines show that the site has been crawled 2 times.
Being PR9 for a site not even indexed seems unlikely!

Highly unlikely that it is a legit PR9, since it seems to be deindexed and not crawled much in wayback.

It looks like a compeletly hidden site, mostly getting its PR from a redirected PR9 site.
But why is the Pr of a domain important while buying a domain name, when PR is dependent on content of the site and backlinks?
When you buy an expired domain, you just buy the name, not the content of the site.

It's actually pretty worthless buying a domain without content for the pagerank. It will disappear pronto. Plus there are so many "sellers" selling fake pagerank domains. I would not evaluate a domain on it's pagerank. Pagerank is assigned to pages of a site... not the domain name, so if there are no pages, it will not keep that fake pagerank for very long. Plus the .us extension is not very popular at all.

Use RankChecker.com to verify the domain's PR.

          Rankchecker shows PR9.
But I think it is a fake PR.I guess I am understanding the concept a bit now.

Almost undoubtedly. And if it's been faked, RankChecker's no use at all.
